Kitsune Tails Combines Retro Platforming and Queer Love Story on PC Today

Embody the kitsune kaizo spirit and become a mythological messenger of legend

SAN FRANCISCO – August 1, 2024 – Kitsune Tails, the platformer styled after beloved classics and steeped in Japanese mythology developed by Kitsune Games (Kitsune Zero / Super Bernie World) and published by MidBoss™ (Read Only Memories: NEURODIVER), bestows the power of the fabled fox spirit to PC via Steam today! Console versions are in development for Q1 2025.

Guide young half-fox/half-human messenger Yuzu (voiced by Kira Buckland, the voice of NieR: Automata’s 2B) through worlds flowing with legendary Japanese folklore. As the herald of the god Inari, Yuzu must run, jump, and collect powerups in an experience that draws inspiration from the golden age of 8-bit platforming, replicating its feel but with modern quality-of-life features.

Become a snowfox, run on water wearing a shark onesie, and more to master an elemental wheel of options. Leap over hurdles of the heart in an LGBTQ+-themed story and help Yuzu rescue her imprisoned love interest Akko from magical captivity. Why did Yuzu’s childhood friend-turned-rival Kiri imprison her, anyway?

Play minigames uncovered throughout the world map, including a 3D maze adventure built in the same hand-crafted engine as Kitsune Tails. Expand on the experience by crafting your own levels with the free Tiled Map Editor, and create minigames using a simple but powerful Lua scripting system.

“Yuzu’s tale is so dear to our hearts,” said Eniko Fox, Founder, Kitsune Games. “We’re so excited to not only share with you all her story, but to see what the community creates in return. We see our community’s passion and want to foster that creativity with an accessible set of game-design tools. Kitsune Tails is just the start — we can’t wait to see where the community takes things from here.”

Kitsune Tails launches today on PC via Steam for $19.99 (R$39.99 in Brazil) with English language voiceover and English, Japanese, and Brazilian Portuguese language text, with Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox editions coming in Q1 2025.

Post-apocalyptic RPG Broken Roads Releases on Nintendo Switch, Received Multiple Updates

Watch the new launch trailer

Victoria, Australia – Thursday 1st August, 2024 – Independent game studio Drop Bear Bytes is excited to announce that their isometric RPG Broken Roads is out now on Nintendo Switch for $34.99 / £31.49 / €34.99 with an additional limited 20% off launch discount, and PlayStation and Xbox consoles for $39.99 / £32.99 / €39.99. Broken Roads is developed by a passionate indie team of CRPG fans led by Colin McComb, who previously worked on Planescape: Torment and Fallout 2. The game released earlier this year on PC and other consoles and received multiple updates that expanded and improved the experience.

“We’re all really happy to see Broken Roads launch on Nintendo this week” said Craig Ritchie, Game Director at Drop Bear Bytes. “We designed the game to run great on handheld from the beginning and we’re excited to see what Switch players think of it, especially since they’ll be experiencing the best version of the game from day one.”

To commemorate the Nintendo Switch launch, a new trailer was revealed today, which you can watch below.

Moreabout Broken Roads:

Broken Roads is a narrative-driven RPG that brings exploration, strategic turn-based combat and meaningful philosophical choices to an all-new Australian post-apocalyptic setting. Broken Roads skillfully blends traditional and all-new role-playing elements on top of a classless system offering near-unlimited character development options built around four philosophies: Humanist, Utilitarian, Machiavellian, and Nihilist. Furthermore the game presents players with an original morality system: the Moral Compass which sees dialogue options and questing decisions influence, and be influenced by, a character’s philosophical leaning and the tough decisions they make along the way.

Broken Roads’ locations are all authentic recreated from the team visiting towns and landmarks in West Australia and taking photos, videos and audio recordings for it to be as true as possible. Furthermore, even the game’s atmospheric soundtrack composed by Tim Sunderland is composed with instruments constructed from everyday objects which brings a wholly unique and distinctive tone to the game.

About Drop Bear Bytes

Drop Bear Bytes is an independent studio headquartered in Torquay, Victoria, Australia. Drop Bear Bytes was established in early 2019 with the goal of developing a deep, narrative-driven role-playing experience. With a team comprised of developers, artists and writers from Australia, South Africa, Canada, USA and China, we are currently working on our debut title, Broken Roads, a traditional isometric RPG for PC, Switch, Playstation and Xbox platforms.

OPERATION: TANGO, CLEVER PLAYS’ POPULAR ASYMMETRICAL CO-OP ESPIONAGE GAME AVAILABLE ON SWITCH TODAY

Includes Friend-Pass and Cross-Play Compatibility with Other Platforms;       Limited-Time Sale Because “It Takes Two to Save the World”

MONTREAL: THURSDAY, AUGUST 1, 2024 – Clever Plays, a Montreal-based independent game studio, today announced that its award-winning asymmetrical co-op spy adventure Operation: Tango has launched on the Nintendo Switch platform. Previously released for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox X/S Series, as well as being a June 2021 PS Plus selection, Operation: Tango can be purchased starting today through August 21st on the Nintendo e-store for a special 10% discount ($17.99) off the regular $19.99 retail price.

To celebrate the game’s Switch launch, Operation: Tango is also on sale on most of the previously released platforms for a limited time. Specifically, players can purchase the PS4 and PS5 versions of the game on the PlayStation store at a 55% discount ($8.99) until August 14th in most regions; and Steam customers can purchase it at a 55% discount ($8.99) through August 7th.

“It’s been fun to see how well this game continues to resonate with people since we launched the first platforms in 2021,” said Mattieu Bégin, co-founder and lead designer at Clever Plays. “Launching amid a global pandemic was a powerful way for people to play together while sheltered apart. Now that people are back to moving about and traveling, we are delighted to bring the game to the Switch so friends can play together no matter where they go.”

Operation: Tango plays out much like a virtual escape room, bonding players in the process. One player takes on the role of Angel, the “Field Agent”, while the other plays as Alistair, the “Hacker.” Playing from separate devices, each player enjoys a completely unique experience. The pair must work together, in constant verbal contact, and be linked in an augmented, fully connected, and highly stylized world to solve puzzles and complete each high-stakes mission.

The game takes its tagline, “It Takes Two to Save the World”, to heart, in that only by sharing the vantage points of each role can players overcome the many challenges that stand between them and completing each mission. The resulting experience is more like an in-person game night or team challenge. The Switch version features all the previously released bonus content and is cross-play compatible across systems.*.

Players hosting the game can invite a friend to join them for free via their game platform of choice via the Friend Pass feature, accessible by downloading the free demo on any of the platform’s digital storefronts. To host a game, players must own a copy of Operation: Tango. The demo / Friend Pass for the Switch platform should be available within the next week or so.
