London, 31th July: Two very different titles join the Antstream library this week. Antstream, the leading retro streaming service, is pleased to announce the arrival of the classic Centipede (Atari 8-bit) and The Lords of Midnight (Spectrum). Get ready to shoot centipede segments and bring an end to winter by destroying Doomdark.

The challenge for this week is one for the best Double Dragon players. In “C’mon Then, If You Think You’re Hard Enough” players must earn the highest score possible on the highest difficulty. Good luck!

Previously a VCS exclusive, the Atari 8-bit version of Centipede joins Antstream this week. An iconic game that proved incredibly popular in the arcades, Centipede originally launched in 1981 before being released on multiple platforms. The game is a fixed shooter where the titular centipede moves left and right across the screen, getting lower with each crossing.

The goal is to shoot all of the centipede segments before it reaches the bottom. Mushrooms litter the screen, increasing as the player advances through the levels, but they can also be shot and destroyed. The centipede will move until it hits the edge of the screen or a mushroom, and will then turn around. Shooting the middle segments of the centipede will cause it to split in two, and the player is scored depending on what they manage to shoot. A true classic from the golden age of arcade games, Centipede is not a game to miss.

The Lords of Midnight is a fantasy strategy/RPG hybrid game that launched originally for the ZX Spectrum in 1984, before being converted to other home computers. The game proved to be very well regarded by the players and spawned a couple of sequels in later years. In The Lords of Midnight, players are charged with destroying the Witchking Doomdark and bringing about the end of the perpetual winter that hangs over the Land of Midnight.

Played very much like a graphic adventure, The Lords of Midnight employed an innovative 3-D effect to immerse the player in the fantasy world. Players initially begin with four characters, but can recruit many other characters to their cause as they progress. The game has two different goals that change how the game is played. Players can either choose to destroy the source of Doomdark’s power, which plays as an adventure, or raise enough armies to storm Doomdark’s citadel, which is more wargame. For the most adventurous players, combining both objectives into one game is the way to go. The Lords of Midnight is a classic example of early strategy games and still has a devoted following even now.

Whether fighting to bring an end to the perpetual winter, or simply shooting that evil centipede, Antstream players will be able to use the cloud system to pause and resume the action whenever they choose. DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO latest trailer introduces characters from the first two DRAGON BALL Z Sagas, Saiyan and Namek.

The Saiyan Saga kickstarted the rivalry between Goku and Vegeta, starting with the fight with Raditz before Nappa and Vegeta. Joining the roster from that saga are Saibaman, the green humanoid that grow from a seed, and Chiaotzu, Tenshinhan best friend and one of Goku’s ally in this fight.

The Namek Saga follows the journey of Vegeta, Gohan, Krillin and Goku facing the threat of Frieza, the evil emperor looking to get hold of the Dragon Balls. New characters from this Saga, Frieza’s elite troops, Cui, Dodoria, and Zarbon make their way into the roster along with the remainder of the Ginyu Corps, Guldo, Recoome and the captain Ginyu himself. Nail, the fierce Namekian fighter that stood up to Frieza will also be available. Frieza also gets his DRAGON BALL Z forms in the roster with his First Form, Second Form, Third Form, Fourth Form, and finally his Fourth Form (Full Power) in which he fought against the legendary Super Saiyan, Son Goku. 

DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO will launch on 11 October 2024 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The game is now available for pre-orders which will give access to the following characters without the need to unlock them in game: Gogeta, Gogeta, Super Saiyan, Gogeta Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan, Broly, Broly, Super Saiyan and Super Saiyan Broly, Full Power. SYDNEY (July 31, 2024) – Today, SQUARE ENIX^® released a free playable demo for the highly anticipated action RPG Visions of Mana^TM, the first mainline entry to the beloved Mana series in more than 15 years. Players can jump into the demo now on PlayStation^®5 (PS5^®), PlayStation^®4 (PS4^®), Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via Microsoft Store and STEAM^®) to get a taste of what’s to come ahead of the game’s official launch on Aug. 29.

In the demo, players will embark on a journey that begins partway through Chapter 1, starting at Rime Falls and continuing into different areas, including the Fallow Steppe and Rhata Harbor. Those up for the challenge can also take on the chapter’s final boss, the Kraken. Players can join up with three party members, Val, Careena and Morley, and experiment with the Wind and Moon classes to enhance their demo experience.

Although save data from the demo cannot be carried over to the full game, as the content has been altered for a more satisfying experience, players with save data from the demo and who purchase Visions of Mana will receive three weapons* for Val, including the Gladius, Falx and Horn Lance, by starting their playthrough of the full game and proceeding as far as Chapter 1**.

Since the series debuted in 1993 as MYSTIC QUEST™, a spin-off of the FINAL FANTASY series, Mana games have immersed players in bright vibrant worlds, breathtaking environments, heartwarming characters and high fantasy storylines across many genres and platforms. IRVINE, Calif. – July 30, 2024 – Frost Giant Studios today welcomed players around the world to join the early access preview for Stormgate, the highly anticipated real-time strategy (RTS) game. Closed beta testers, Kickstarter backers, and those who pre-purchase one of three Early Access Packs on Steam can now enjoy a two-week head start before the free-to-play release begins on August 13.

Created by veterans of StarCraft^® II and Warcraft^® III, Stormgate is a love letter to classic RTS games. Set in a post-apocalyptic sci-fi and fantasy future, Stormgate challenges players to build and command armies in epic battles. Early access includes the game’s three highly asymmetric factions–warring armies vying for control over our planet. Between the stalwart Human Vanguard, the demonic Infernal Host, and the techno-angelic Celestial Armada, players are sure to find an army that they’ll love to play.

Stormgate preserves classic RTS gameplay while introducing modern innovations to make it more approachable. The “BuddyBot” assists players of all skill levels, acting as training wheels or an always-on helper to aid in managing the game’s economy and base-building, so that they can enjoy RTS gameplay without needing the high “actions per minute” (APM) of a seasoned pro. Automated control groups and the quick macro panel simplify inputs, lowering the skill floor without affecting the skill ceiling.

Stormgate offers four main modes of play:

• Campaign: Explore an ever-evolving story, with three free missions and more available for purchase.
• Competitive: Engage in ranked 1v1 battles. A Hero-driven 3v3 mode is coming later.
• Cooperative: Control powerful Heroes and team up in 3-player co-op vs. AI opponents on maps with unique objectives.
• Custom Games: Challenge other players to 1v1, 2v2, or the MOBA-like Turf War mode (Editor to be released later during early access).

Early Access Packs*:

• Early Access Pack ($24.99 USD): Includes Amara, a Vanguard hero; Chapter 1 of the Vanguard campaign (containing three replayable missions); and the Gold Vanguard Army Accent cosmetic upgrade.
• Deluxe Early Access Pack ($39.99 USD): Includes everything in the Early Access Pack plus Maloc, the Infernal Hero; Auralanna, the Celestial Hero; and a Chicken Supporter Pet.
• Ultimate Early Access Pack ($59.99 USD): Includes everything in the Deluxe Early Access Pack plus unlocked access to Chapters 2 & 3 of the Vanguard campaign and the Firestorm Fog of War shader.

The Stormgate campaign will continue to expand during early access and long into the future as the team plans to continue releasing new missions every few months. Stormgate is designed as a highly social experience and, in the future, players who purchase access to these story-driven adventures will be able to invite their friends to play them cooperatively for free.

Free to Play, the Right Way

Starting August 13, every game mode in Stormgate will be playable for free, including three free prologue campaign missions, unlimited 1v1 ranked matches, three-player co-op vs. AI, and custom games. All Heroes will be free to enjoy up to level 5 and Blockade, a Vanguard Hero, will be completely free to everyone to max level. To support ongoing development of Stormgate, players may purchase additional story chapters, unlock additional progression for Heroes, or adopt an adorable in-game pet like the Supporter Jerboa. Stormgate is committed to fairness and transparency with its business model. Instead of locking content behind mind-numbing grinding mechanics (or even worse, selling competitive advantages to players who pay for them), we’re committed to fair play and not going “pay to win.”

SnowPlay, Frost Giant’s custom-built technology, transforms Unreal Engine 5 into the most advanced RTS engine to date. Stormgate features 64 tick-rate servers versus the typical 8 (tick rate being a measure of how frequently a game refreshes its information), empowering smooth and responsive gameplay.
