London,13th August: As the sun beats down, Antstream are set to add two more games to the leading retro streaming service. Food Fight (Arcade) pits the player against four angry chefs, while Raffles (Amiga) challenges the player to find gems hidden in a strange house. Both titles launch on Antstream this week.

When it comes to challenges, this week players can try their hand at “Ho Ho Ho, I Got A Machine Gun” in The Super Spy (Arcade). Explore the building and shoot as many enemies as you can. Get a high score before the time runs out, or you sleep with the fishes.

It is also nearly time to enjoy the Summer 2024 tournament, played in Zombies Ate My Neighbors (SNES). Starting on August 13th at 2pm GMT, the challenge is called Neighborhood Watch.

Atari’s Food Fight originally came to arcades in 1983. The game was later released for various Atari systems and was previously a VCS exclusive until now.

In Food Fight, players take on the role of Charley Chuck, whose objective is simply to eat a slowly melting ice cream. However, four angry chefs, called Oscar, Angelo, Jacques and Zorba, are determined to stop Charley. Chefs will appear from holes on the screen and then chase Charley. The level is also filled with various foods that can be used by both Charley and the chefs as projectiles, and Charley will lose a life if he is hit by thrown food, touched by a chef, falls down a hole or fails to eat the ice cream before it melts.

Raffles is an isometric action-adventure game, launched in 1988. The game, released by The Edge, started out as Inside Outing when the game was released for ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC and Commodore 64, but was changed to Raffles in 1989 for launch on Atari ST and Amiga.

In the game, the widow of an eccentric millionaire hires a professional thief, the player, to locate the gems hidden in the Manor. The player must explore each isometric room, interacting with all of the usual furnishings, to find the often clever hiding places of the treasure. Unfortunately, the late millionaire had an interest in genetically engineering his pets, so it may not be the easiest job. The player has only three lives and will lose one on contact with any of these strange creatures. Good luck!

Two New RPGs Signed For Publishing

Nicosia, Cyprus (August 13, 2024) — Renowned RPG developer Owlcat Games, the studio behind critically acclaimed titles such as Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, and Pathfinder: Kingmaker, has announced its ambition to become a publisher. Alongside its development efforts, from now on, Owlcat will focus on helping independent teams across the globe introduce their own RPGs and narrative-driven games to players. Owlcat will ensure its new partners have all the services, funding, and expert advice they need to create new role-playing experiences.

“We would like to work with teams that share our passion for telling captivating stories through narrative-driven games. These might not fall entirely into the RPG genre, but they will definitely have a solid focus on story, characters, and worldbuilding. After reviewing more than 50 projects, Owlcat has signed deals with two talented development teams — Emotion Spark Studio, based in Serbia, and Another Angle Games, based in Poland.

Emotion Spark Studio is working on a narrative RPG called Rue Valley. It is a story about a man trapped in a mysterious time loop during a psychotherapy session. Dealing with mental challenges, the main character must rise from the depths, delving into the anomaly to uncover its enigmatic origins.

Another Angle Games is creating an isometric RPG in an alternate history setting of feudal Japan called Shadow of the Road. It is an immersive story about samurai, honor, and allegiance, combined with a deep tactical turn-based combat system in a world filled with magical yokai and deadly steampunk technology.

Both titles are still in the early stages of development, with more information to be shared later this month at gamescom.

Owlcat Games has also gained full control over the publishing label META Publishing, which acted as a publishing partner to bring Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous to PC and console storefronts in 2021. META Publishing follows a strategy of its own and focuses on gameplay-first titles with co-op multiplayer features.

Belgian indie game studio Rogueside’s newest title Hidden Through Time 2: Discovery, is available today on PC (Steam), Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Mobile (Android, iOS).

Hidden Through Time 2: Discovery invites players to adventure across three enchanting eras, Victorian, Noir, and Sci-Fi, with the campaign featuring a total of 33 levels. 

Hidden Through Time 2: Discovery is fun for the entire family. With its playful tone, relaxing atmosphere, and cosy 2D gameplay mechanics, the game provides enjoyment for all ages. Featuring beautifully hand-drawn items within interactive landscapes, players are invited on a journey through a serene adventure across all three eras. Uncover secrets with legendary detective Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson in the Victorian era, solve cases such as the case of the missing corgi with Detective Jane Spade in 1940’s America in the Noir era, and journey across the galaxy with Anna, a young astronaut embarking on her first mission, in the Sci-Fi era.

A deckbuilding sci-fi adventure set during a planetary catastrophe 

Green Bay, WI (August 13, 2024) – Midwest Games—an industry veteran-led publisher whose mission is to support and showcase abundant talent across the Midwest and underrepresented regions—and southwest indie developer Ganymede Games are proud to announce that turn-based sci-fi deck-building RPG Dark Sky is set to release on September 24, 2024 on Windows PC via Steam and GOG.

Dark Sky offers a fresh experience for deckbuilding and RPG players, featuring in-depth character card customization, strategic combat, and clever card synergies to explore. Set on the once peaceful mining planet, Wolf Prime, players will engage in card and grid-based combat, optimize their party’s abilities, study their enemies, and exploit their weaknesses to maximize damage and, ultimately, liberate their home.

Players will take on the role of Squig, a modest shipyard worker who has witnessed a mysterious force pull all spacecraft down from the sky, shrouding the landscape in wreckage, debris, and danger. With the help of Squig and his friend Norton, players will gather a team of survivors for a journey to uncover the mystery behind the sudden cataclysm. As devastation rains from above, players must take matters into their own hands before Wolf Prime is torn apart.

Formerly titled Xenotheria, Dark Sky is Ganymede Games’ first title, and the initial narrative of a much larger universe to come.
