gamescom dev unveils exclusive leadership summit program with Amir Satvat, Luis Villegas and industry executives

Executive forum creates space for candid leadership conversations

Cologne, Germany, 04.08.2026 – As games industry leaders continue to navigate market uncertainty, the rapid evolution of AI, and increasingly complex business decisions, gamescom dev will once again host its exclusive leadership summit as part of this year’s conference. Taking place on Monday afternoon, August 24, the forum is reserved for invited guests and holders of the gamescom dev VIP Pass. This intimate executive forum is bringing together founders, studio heads, executives, and decision-makers for an afternoon of candid discussions, strategic perspectives, and peer exchange in a trusted setting designed to encourage open conversations about the industry’s challenges.

Part of the year-round gamescom dev leadership events series, the summit is designed around a simple principle: conversations that shape the industry often happen away from the spotlight.

Hosted by Lars Janssen, CEO of DECK 13 and Chairman of the Board of game – The German Games Industry Association, the afternoon combines keynote presentations, sessions, executive discussions, interactive formats, and dedicated networking opportunities in a deliberately intimate setting, encouraging honest conversations among industry leaders.

“The most valuable leadership conversations rarely happen in front of hundreds of people,” says Lars Janssen. They happen when leaders are able to speak openly with peers about the difficult decisions, uncertainties, and responsibilities that come with leading studios and teams.

Amir Satvat, Business Development Director, Tencent Games and founder of ASGC, opens the program with his keynote “Where Does This End?”, exploring the current state of the games industry following several years of restructuring, studio closures and rapid transformation.

In the fireside chat “The Bets You Can’t Take Back,” Luis Villegas, CTO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, joins Lars Janssen to discuss how technology decisions are made across PlayStation Studios, examining the long-term impact of choices around AI, game engines, live-service infrastructure and studio strategy.

A leadership panel featuring additional industry executives will examine how studios are managing organizational change, shifting business priorities and the growing impact of AI while continuing to support teams through uncertainty. The afternoon concludes with an interactive “Fishbowl” session, allowing every participant to contribute directly to the discussion.

The gamescom dev leadership summit is part of the gamescom dev leadership events series, a year-round program of summits and executive dinners designed specifically for senior leaders across the games industry. Participation is available by invitation and for holders of a gamescom dev VIP Pass, making the summit one of the exclusive executive experiences included with the conference’s VIP offering.

Further speakers, program updates, and networking events for gamescom dev 2026 will be announced in the coming weeks.

Cozy Indoor Farming Sim Tiny Eden Blooms on PC Sept. 7

Liven up a drab city apartment with a bounty of hand-tended garden plants and produce

NICOSIA, Cyprus – Aug. 3, 2026 – Tiny Eden, the cozy indoor farming sim from developer Bajka Games and publisher Digital Vortex Entertainment, will sprout on PC via Steam on Monday, Sept. 7, 2026.

Move into your new apartment in a megapolis, where the bare walls and floors open out onto a seemingly endless sea of gray concrete and glass, and liven things up! With a single packet of seeds, some potting soil, and a bit of know-how, start a thriving indoor garden, one delicate plant at a time. Nurture strawberries, tomatoes, peas, and herbs on the windowsill, and watch as the once-drab apartment gradually fills with vibrant life.

Learn the growth cycles of each species, keep their soil watered and fertilized, and dispose of dead stems and leaves as the seasons progress. Expand the garden to new areas by picking out attractive planting pots that match your decor, and coordinate with the local gardening group on bigger projects.

Find new plants, recipes, and gardening equipment online, and harvest the fruits of your labor. Head to the kitchen to create delicious jams, sweets, pickles, and more to fill orders from your new neighbors and turn a cozy profit. As your garden thrives, so will your living space: upgrade it with new furniture, floor treatments, light fixtures, and art – and make sure the cat has a nice place to sleep!

Tiny Eden is a calming, meditative game about forming the small daily rituals that I’ve found have sustained me during sad times,” said Aliaksandr Piskun, CEO of Bajka Games. “Our goal was to create a place for players to slow down, live in the moment, and experience the gentle nature of plants and gardening.”

Tiny Eden is now available for PC via Steam. For updates and to share feedback, check out the official Discord server, and follow Tiny Eden on X/Twitter and Tiktok.

BUCK Games Reveals “Ladder Lad,” a 100% Ladder-Themed Platformer

LOS ANGELES — August 3, 2026 — BUCK Games today scales up its portfolio with the grand reveal ofLadder Lad, the 2D platformer all about ladders, climbing onto PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch in 2027. Get hands-on with the first playable demo at the PAX Rising Showcase at PAX West!

The game is a collaboration between BUCK Games and BUCK, a global creative company serving brands like Nike, Apple, Netflix, IBM, Airbnb, as well as contributing to the likes of Netflix’s Love, Death + Robots and Sony Pictures Animation’s Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse. But do these globally recognized pop culture I.P.s heavily feature ladders? Sadly, no. That’s why for their next original title, BUCK Games chose to focus entirely on ladders.

In a world that has forgotten how to jump, ladders have become the only means of upward mobility. As the titular Lad, scale a whimsical ladder-shaped tower with nothing more than a personal ladder and a healthy serving of creative climbing.

In the Lad’s capable hands, a ladder can do so much more: bridge gaps, pole-vault into the air, bounce on it like a pogo stick, ride it like a sled… if it comes to mind, it’s worth a try! In this vertical adventure, platforming staples transform into new surprises ripe for experimentation.

Physics-based chaos and slapstick comedy collide in a world seemingly built to torture our poor, sweet Lad. Master the ladder’s intuitive tilting control scheme to triumph over each trial. Precariously balance at the top to suck in the sweet, sweet oxygen above toxic plumes. Dodge a variety of deadly projectiles by ascending (or descending) at juuuust the right moment.

Beyond the many, many applications of the basic ladder, dream even bigger with augments found along the journey. Soar above it all with an inflatable hot air balloon attachment, tunnel through danger with a non-Euclidian Warped Ladder, or fuel up the BFL (Big Flying Ladder, of course!) and hit the afterburners.

On the way to the top of this strange world, meet even stranger characters. Larger-than-life  Rungmasters lead the Lad through each uniquely themed rung. Encounter sentient ooze and an ancient, poetry-reciting eldritch frog. Climb to an eclectic, delightful score and sound design courtesy of the award-winning Antfood, marking their third collaboration with BUCK Games.

Ladder Lad’s mix of absurdist comedy with precision ladder-based platforming makes for a truly one-of-a-kind experience,” said Marla Anyomi, Production Director for BUCK Games. “The Lad is equally lovable, staring out from behind the rungs, ready to confront the trials and tribulations above him.”

Ladder Lad ascends to new heights when it launches on PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch in 2027. For further information, check out more about BUCK Games and Ladder Lad here!

Greg Wolfe, Creator of Mount and Blade Warband’s ‘Steel and Blood’ Mod Joins Steam Cyberpunk Fest With Star Ronin

In a future ruled by megacorporations, one family’s debt sees them taking on dark wetwork jobs to pay it off. Star Ronin is a top-down action RPG of destructible combat, deep crafting, and procedurally generated chaos, from developer Wolfe Games.

[August 3rd, 2026]: Wolfe Games today announced that Star Ronin, its cyberpunk action RPG will take part in Steam’s Cyberpunk Fest, running August 3rd to August 10th, 2026, offering a new demo for players who wish to check out the game ahead of launch. The game is available to wishlist now on Steam, with a full release expected later in 2026.

The game’s solo developer, Greg Wolfe, is the creator of the wildly popular Mount & Blade: Warband mod Blood and Steel – which achieved over a million downloads – as well as mods for Teleglitch, MechWarrior 5, and more.

Star Ronin drops players into a dystopian future where megacorporations own everything, including your family’s freedom. Working off an impossible debt means taking every dangerous job going, and surviving means kill or be killed. Play your own way: vanish with thermoptic camouflage, rocket into a room on a jetpack, call in drone support, or just go loud with an arsenal that keeps getting bigger

Every mission and map in Star Ronin is procedurally generated, from objectives and enemies down to traps and boss encounters, set across environments that can be blown up, set on fire, or used creatively against a vast catalog of foes. A deep crafting system lets players build and upgrade their own weapons, exo-suits, and equipment, while multiple difficulty levels and a dedicated Arena mode let players tailor and test their own approach.

During Steam’s Cyberpunk Fest, players will be able to download and play the Star Ronin demo directly from its Steam page, alongside a wider selection of cyberpunk and sci-fi titles featured as part of the event.

Key features of Star Ronin include:

  • Go Loud, or Go Quiet: Thermoptic camouflage, jetpack traversal, and drone support give players a different way into every job.
  • Destructible, Procedurally Generated Missions: Objectives, maps, enemies, traps, and boss encounters change on every run, in environments that can be blown up, set on fire, or used creatively.
  • A Vast Catalog of Foes: From kamikaze bomb swarms to robot dogs with flamethrower heads to bosses with vicious abilities.
  • Deep Crafting System: Build and upgrade weapons, exo-suits, and equipment, choosing between tank, speed, or power focused builds.
  • A Difficulty Curve Built to Last: Multiple difficulty levels and a dedicated Arena mode let players test their build before risking it for real.
  • Dynamic Lighting System: A sophisticated, realistic 2D lighting engine, with flashlights and night vision for navigating the dark.

Star Ronin can be wishlisted now on Steam, with a playable demo available immediately. The game is expected to release later in 2026.

About Star Ronin

Star Ronin has been developed as a fully independent project by Wolfe Games. Alongside its crafting, exo-suit customization, and procedurally generated missions, the game is described by its developer as an attempt to build something that, in their own words, nobody’s played before.

About Wolfe Games

Wolfe Games was established by solo developer Greg Wolfe, the creator of the popular Blood and Steel mod for Mount & Blade: Warband mod, which reached over a million downloads. Wolfe has been designing games and mods since childhood, starting with a Car Wars inspired tabletop game playtested with a local group at around age 12.

TINYBUILD ANNOUNCES PROBABLY STOLEN,A CYBERPUNK PIXEL-ART SHOP SIMULATOR WHERE THE GOODS AREN’T PURELY LEGAL

Craft, trade and smuggle goods of questionable origins to keep your store afloat in the new Steam playtest today!

SEATTLE Aug. 3, 2026 – tinyBuild (Graveyard Keeper, Potion Craft, Kingmakers) and developer Questing Goose Studio are thrilled to announce Probably Stolen, a gritty new cyberpunk shopkeeping simulator where the customers are dubious and the goods even more so! Run your shop, choose what you sell, and do your best to survive amidst the crime and corruption of the Lower Levels. How far are you willing to go to make a quick buck in the retail underworld? Find out in Probably Stolen‘s debut playtest, available now on Steam!

On the Lower Levels, survival isn’t about being good – it’s about being profitable. In a dystopian space station split by wealth and corruption, your business runs on merchandise of questionable origins. Buy and sell what you can to survive, navigate faction loyalties, and use your gun when necessary. Just remember – if the profit margin looks good, it’s Probably Stolen.

Key Features

  • PROFIT COMES FIRST: Choose to start as a gunsmith, chemist, water merchant, fence, farmer…or from pure rock bottom. Every product has its own profit curve and way of ruining you – weapons face inspections, contraband brings raids. Some trades need heavy machinery and permits, others just a good hiding spot. You’re not just choosing a theme for your shop; you’re choosing what kind of trouble you’re willing to monetize.
  • KNOW YOUR CUSTOMERS: You never know who’s on the other side of the counter. Today’s shoppers could be Security fishing for evidence, a revolutionary looking for leverage, or someone shady testing your usefulness. Every sale is a gamble. Approve, refuse, report or look away – someone is always taking notes.
  • RISK & REWARD: Each item has its own risks and rewards. Your margins depend on how well you can assess what’s in front of you. Misjudge the item or the person selling it, and you absorb the cost. You can always cut the product’s quality to earn a little extra dough – but be careful not to incur the wrath of Security or mob justice.
  • BEWARE THE LANDLORD: Rent increases over time, regardless of how well your week went. If you fall behind, your shop will suffer the consequences, forcing you to choose between playing it safe or taking a big bet to get back in the black. But one bad purchase or illegal bust could be all it takes to lose your business forever.
  • SHOOT ON SIGHT: Rogue AI-augmented individuals live among us, secretly kidnapping people for nefarious objectives. All factions on the station agree – shoot on sight! Keep an eye out for suspicious shoppers and pull the trigger when necessary.
