Nintendogs + cats gets some high profile spokespeople

Nintendogs + cats has gotten its own spokespeople from quite a range of sources. The RSPCA has officially endorsed the game, with RSPCA Parternships Manager Kellie Rutherford saying “The RSPCA science team spent many hours with nintendogs + cats to ensure it was a game that promoted responsible ownership of a puppy or kitten. Every aspect of the game was carefully looked over to ensure it aligned with the RSCPA’s key messages”.

The second endorsement comes from Australian Idol runner-up and popular Australian singer, Jessica Mauboy. Jessica will be appearing in the new Nintendogs + cats adds and had this to say about the game, “If like me, you just don’t have the lifestyle where you can look after a puppy or kitten of your own – whether you travel a lot, live in an apartment, or work long hours – nintendogs + cats is the perfect companion for you”.

Nintendogs + cats is available on the Nintendo 3DS now.

Grease Now Available for the Xbox 360 and PS3!

I would imagine that everybody reading this has probably seen the hit movie Grease that first
seen life in cinemas in 1977. There is no doubt that this musical started the trend, and now 505 games have released Grease for both the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. This title lets players sing and dance to their favorite tracks from the flick, using either the Playstation Move or Kinect motion controls.

505 Games, who are publishing this musical number have recently released a statement to celebrate the release of their new dancing smash:

Batman: Arkham City buyers encountering issues with Catwoman codes

What’s that? You want to play as your little cat instead of a bat? Well good luck to you, because in a bizarre twist of bad press, Warner Bros. has encountered severe problems with their version of the Online Pass for Batman: Arkham City. Various reports have shown up online from consumers saying that they have encountered a number of issues with the code that they were supposed to enter to unlock Catwoman in the main game.

The reports range from consumers receiving more than one code, though those are the lucky ones, no downloadable code slip being included at all and even a few people saying that their slip has no code on it whatsoever. Warner Bros. is scrambling to fix the issue, but this only goes to show that Online Passes are just a pathetic punishment to consumers that only cause trouble, especially considering the very first mission you play in Batman: Arkham City is as Catwoman.

Nintendo to hold conference Friday for 3DS firmware and Mario Kart 7

0

It seems like Nintendo is going to throw a quick press event out of nowhere this upcoming Friday. Friday October 21st at 8PM Japan, which means around 6AM Central US time, the event will be streamed online. Those hoping to see the show live shouldn’t worry however, as the event is being prerecorded anyways.

The event will address the upcoming November firmware update for the Nintendo 3DS and supposedly detail Mario Kart 7’s wireless functions. Perhaps there will be more announced as well, because this doesn’t seem like much to hold a conference for. Still, hopefully this means that Mario Kart 7 will actually have wireless online rather than only local like Star Fox 3D had…

Kamisama Dolls sequel still in question

Despite a cliffhanger ending designed to make fans beg for a second season, it seems that Kamisama Dolls may not actually end up getting a second season after all. The show’s lead writer Makoto Uezu claimed on his Twitter account that though the continuation is in draft form but is encountering “various difficulties.”

This is extremely disappointing news as the show not only had an interesting premise, constantly shifting tones between action, drama and comedy and likable characters… it also had the wild expressions of Utao. Let us hope that Brains Base will decide to continue on with the series, as a show that ends with a cliffhanger and ends without a second season is always a shame.

Catherine sells nearly as well in North America as in Japan

Whenever an extremely Japanese styled game is released in North America, there is always the concern that the title may not sell well enough to justify the localization. It seems however that Atlus’ and Index’s Catherine title has sold well both in its country of origin and in North America.

The company recently revealed sales figures for the title, which list Catherine selling 260,000 copies in Japan and 230,000 in North America for 490,000 total sold reports Andriasang. This is great news for localization efforts to bring games to the West, and especially good news for both Atlus and Catherine’s developer Index. Especially since Catherine’s story and puzzle mechanics created such a unique gameplay experience we haven’t seen often in the West.

  • PlayStation Vita releasing on February 22nd in North America

    0

It seems that Sony has finally nailed down when they will be releasing the PlayStation Vita in the West, as SCEA head Jack Tretton announced the release date today at the Web 2.0 Summit. The new Sony hand held will be released on February 22nd next year in North America.

The Vita will still release in two separate models, the non-3G version will run $249.99 and the $299.99 model that will use AT&T’s amazingly horrible 3G service in North America. The release date for the Vita also marks the release date for all the different launch titles that we have heard about over the past few months as well.

Monster Hunter 3G to only have local play

While it may seem like a decent idea to have local only multiplayer in a country as crowded as Japan, releasing a local only game anywhere else in the world is just a pathetic move. And it seems that Capcom has stepped right up there with Nintendo with forgoing online multiplayer in titles that desperately ask for such a feature.

Capcom has confirmed that Monster Hunter 3G will only have local multiplayer through an Ad Hoc system. The only online feature the game will have is to download special events occasionally. The Japanese market may be relatively packed with 3DS handhelds, but here in North America you will be lucky to find another person in your entire city with one. This is Chicago I’m talking about.
