Unity Hits 1 Million Users and Counting

0

Unity, game engine and tools, was released back in 2005, with just a few hundred users. To date, Unity has been downloaded 6 million times, and has reached 1 million registered developers. At the end of 2010, they had 250,000 developers using their platform, which grew to 750,000 just a year later! This exponential growth continues strong, as the platform spreads in popularity across Asia, Latin America, and Eastern Europe.

The system’s monthly active developer base has grown to 300,000, who put in 2.5 million hours into their projects in the last month alone. According to Evans Data’s statistics, this adds up to almost 2% of the world’s software developers using Unity!

Unity is an intuitive and flexible development platform used to make interactive 3D and 2D content. The system can deploy to many platforms, including iOS and the browser with the help of the Unity Web Player. It’s ease of use makes prototyping games quick and straightforward, and has become very popular amongst the indie crowd.

Lost Planet 3 Trailer Leaked, And It’s Ice Cold

Oh leaked things, how I love you dearly. Thanks to an Italian source, gotta love those Europeans, the Lost Planet 3 trailer has been released onto the internet! And it is looking chilly. You head off into the tundra for the third installment, with the trailer showing off some not so forgiving environments.

Winter planets have always had the creepiest and most dangerous critters, probably cos they’re just more badass in minus temperatures, and Lost Planet 3 is no exception to the rule. The trailer guarantees that there will be some pretty epic fights, along with some pretty epically weird and wonderful creatures, and this is definitely an installment to keep an eye out for with some awesome looking graphics. And with the whole frozen landscape thing, the local fauna can be the least of your problem…

Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think of it! Do you think the below freezing environment an interesting switch-up, or do you care more about what you get to shoot up?

Lost Planet 3 is due for release in 2013. For more info on Lost Planet 3 as it comes out keep tuned to Capsule Computers.

The Witcher 2 Trailer is Worth 52… and a Half

With The Witcher 2: Enhanced Edition heading to Xbox 360 next week, CDProjekt have released a new trailer detailing exactly what it means to be a Witcher.

And that generally involves gloomily leaving town, drinking toxic mutagens and potions, hunting the things that go bump in the night, and, obviously, having a conversation with a horse. Check out the “52 and a Half” trailer below!

The Witcher 2: Enhanced Edition hits Xbox 360 on April 17th, and will be released as a free update to the PC version on the same day.

Max Payne 3 Shotgun Trailer Comes Out Firing

Another video has been released in Rockstar’s series of Max Payne 3 sneak peeks, taking a look at the weaponry, specifically the shotguns. Shotguns are that perfect gun for close range combat, especially if you’re going up against zombies, but it works just as well against thugs in São Paulo.

Featuring a range of awesome shots, and awesome shots of shots, the video goes into a few of the different type of shotguns that are available in the game. First up, the M4 Super 90 semi-automatic, then the M500 pump-action, the Super Sport, the Spas-15, and my personal favourite, the Sawn Off dual wield.

Take a look at these beautiful guns and the damage they can do in the trailer below! What do you guys reckon? Are you shotgun-aficionados who can’t wait to get your paws on some of these goodies, or just wanna give it a go for the fun of it? Or are you just more rifle-toting, grenade-slingers?

For more info on Max Payne 3 as it comes out keep tuned to Capsule Computers, or visit the official site.

Max Payne 3 will be available for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation3 on May 15, 2012 in the US and May 18, 2012 in Australia and Europe, with the PC version launching on May 29th, 2012 in the US and June 1st, 2012 in Australia and Europe.

Juliet Starling does her laundry

In this humourous commercial starring the lovely Jessica Nigri, the official cosplayer for the leading lady of Lollipop Chainsaw, Juliet Starling. In this commercial she talks about a hot new product,  ZOM-BE-GONE, a washing detergent that will clean away all those icky zombie stains.

It’s a fun little commercial, that parodies washing detergent commercials that interrupt our televison viewing experience, if all commercials had someone like Jessica Nigri, then we wouldn’t mind them as much.

Lollipop Chainsaw certainly has quite the promotion campaign going for it, such as the cosplay competition, the nationwide bus tour, and now these funny commercials.
