Strange Scaffold’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown Debuts Demo at Steam Next Fest

Play the beginning chapter of the upcoming turn-based beat-em-up on Steam, February 24-March 3

El Paso, TX – February 24, 2025 – Developer Strange Scaffold (I Am Your Beast, CLICKOLDING), in partnership with Paramount Game Studios, brings the first-ever turn-based TMNT video game, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown, to players with its debut demo – available now as part of Steam Next Fest: February 2025 Edition.

Inspired by the classic TMNT cartoon, Tactical Takedown reimagines the franchise with an innovative mix of turn-based strategy and beat-em-up action. The Steam Next Fest demo features a short tutorial and a modified version of the first chapter of the game, inviting players to experience the turtle action firsthand as they take on the nefarious Foot Clan in strategic battles.

Splinter and Shredder are dead, and as the Turtles approach adulthood, they’re not just growing up… they’re growing apart. In this unique take on the world of TMNT, players fight through 20 constantly-mutating levels that grow, shrink, and add new threats with each turn. Each Turtle – Michelangelo, Donatello, Leonardo, and Raphael – has unique movesets and super moves, allowing for deep tactical play. Players can modify loadouts, unlock skills, and carve through figurine-like foes in a diorama-inspired world.

Tactical Takedown brings the Turtles world to life with a striking graphic novel-inspired art style, featuring bold paint splatters and detailed diorama setpieces. The game’s action is backed by a high-energy, multi-genre soundtrack from award-winning composer RJ Lake (Unbeatable, I Am Your Beast).

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown Steam Next Fest demo is available now through March 3, 2025. The game launches later this year on Steam for PC.

Watch the brand new Story Trailer and play the first story chapter as a free demo before Early Access starts on March 6th

There’s no reason to wait to play Chernobylite 2 anymore. Today, along with Steam Next Fest, we’re giving you access to the game’s demo version. The Prologue of the Chernobylite 2 will take you at least 1-2 hours to complete, depending on how many different gameplay mechanics you would like to try and how much you’re into exploring the Zone. The demo lets you begin the open-world exploration. However (because it’s a prologue, not because it’s a demo), it’s a much smaller area compared to the Early Access version that will be launched on March 6th.

Download the game’s prologue in the form of a free demo from Steam (https://store.steampowered.com/app/2075100/Chernobylite_2_Exclusion_Zone/) today, don’t forget to wishlist and join developers on their Discord server (https://discord.com/invite/mehRmzY).

Within the prologue of Chernobylite 2, you’ll be able to get to know the first chapter of Cole Grey’s story, join the Planewalker program, select your class among 6 available options, train your fighting abilities on the Prypyat’s Lenin Square, fly the interdimensional vessel and explore the alternative world in search of Chernobylite. Ultimately, visit the Chornobyl Zone and build your shelter here under the guidance of a mysterious but well-known Black Stalker. And in the meantime, your combat and survival skills will be tested a lot. You need to prove you’re worthy of being a Planewalker!

Thanks to the success of our recently finished Kickstarter campaign, the prologue can be played in both third-person and first-person perspectives. Please note that first-person combat is still a work-in-progress feature that was added within the last few weeks. We recommend playing in the third person if you want a smoother experience, and we encourage you to play in the first person if you’re willing to give us your feedback and let us polish this mode.

The excellent news is that you can play the free demo now and later use your saved game progress within the Early Access version when it becomes available in March. However, to give you this opportunity, we had to keep most of the game content within a demo application, which led to the big demo size (about 115 GB of disk space). We hope this won’t be a significant inconvenience and you’ll enjoy the time spent with the Chernobylite 2 prologue.

Early Access to the game is just around the corner. On March 6th, players worldwide can play it on Steam. We’ll provide about one-third of the final game’s content, but in terms of content and time spent playing, it’s much more than the first Chernobylite game. Prepare yourself for the ultimate Chornobyl ride!

Also, remember to follow us on our social media (likes, comments, and shares for greater reach are welcome!), and we encourage you to join us on Discord.

ABOUT CHERNOBYLITE 2: EXCLUSION ZONE

Chernobylite 2: Exclusion Zone is a post-apo action RPG, mixing free exploration of a huge and extremely realistic open world, challenging combat, unique crafting, and team and base management with non-linear storytelling.  The main character tries to escape the sinister Exclusion Zone and return home, breaking the barriers of time and space and fighting the emanations of the insidious Chernobylite.

The story told in the game will make you fight to survive in the most dangerous place on Earth. Whether you become the hunted or the hunter depends on how quickly you can evolve, your ability to adapt, and the strategy you follow when exploring the open world of the Chornobyl area. In the daytime, you can see the Zone as an intriguing, exciting, or even beautiful area, but when dusk comes, the absolute terror starts and you have to face it every night.

CHERNOBYLITE 2: EXCLUSION ZONE – MAIN FEATURES

  • OPEN WORLD EXPLORATION: Explore and analyze the big and realistic open world of the real Chornobyl Exclusion Zone in a switchable first-person or third-person perspective – you won’t miss a single detail. Chernobylite has taken over the zone, transforming many of its elements, and people are trying to defend themselves against it using prototype technology.
  • CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT: Create and develop your hero. Attributes and skills will affect combat effectiveness, as well as the conversation style. An arrogant muscle man with a big sword trying to intimidate everyone? Or a smart sniper who always finds the right arguments? The choice is yours.
  • DIVERSE COMBAT: Fight for survival with an advanced melee combat system, or keep your enemies away with a diverse arsenal of firearms in switchable third-person or first-person perspective. You can also use the stealth approach or ask others for help. The combat system of Chernobylite 2 is a massive expansion of its predecessor. The introduction of advanced melee weapons fight and crafting system gives more diversity to the character build, strategies, and tactics you can create independently. Don’t forget that if you like to play at the pace of the original Chernobylite, you still can!
  • PLANEWALKING: Adapt your build and equipment to the situation with planewalking, which allows you to change things on the fly. You’re free to develop more than one character skill set. Are you encountering a situation that your previously prepared heavy melee build will solve better than your current ranged sniper? Planewalk and use another one.
  • TEAM BUILDING: Embark on the exciting team-building journey. Each of your mates is a potential teacher, ready to share their knowledge and skills. Assemble your team and discover the unique strengths and abilities they bring. The question is, will you earn their trust and unlock their full potential?
  • BASE DEVELOPMENT: Develop your base. There, you can create valuable items and upgrade your weapons every day. Assign your people to tasks, and they will take care of your equipment and supplies.
  • FACTIONS: Fight for domination and negotiate with factions. The Exclusion Zone is a battlefield that changes every day and reacts to your every action. Can you help them defeat the army of vicious monsters? And when old conflicts are revived, whose side will you be on?
  • COOPERATIVE MISSIONS: Experience online cooperative missions embedded in a single-player campaign allowing players to interact in various ways to achieve the goal.

Chernobylite 2: Exclusion Zone is being developed by The Farm 51 and will launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S in 2025.

Strange Scaffold Announces Creepy Redneck Dinosaur Mansion 3, Demo Available Now in Steam Next Fest

A survival-horror comedy RPG Metroidvania, from the creators of I Am Your Beast and CLICKOLDING

El Paso, TX – February 24, 2025 – Developer Strange Scaffold (I Am Your Beast, CLICKOLDING, El Paso, Elsewhere), in partnership with publisher Frosty Pop, are proud to unveil their upcoming genre-bending game Creepy Redneck Dinosaur Mansion 3 today at IGN Fan Fest. A demo of the game is available now through Steam Next Fest.

As a sequel to a game series that doesn’t exist, complete with lore and a fictional development team, Creepy Redneck Dinosaur Mansion 3 (CRDM3)“commits to the bit” so hard it hurts. This match-3 survival horror comedy RPG Metroidvania (or “matchroidvania”) transports you to a mansion overrun with dinosaurs, and, even more surprisingly, code-breaking bugs. This isn’t your run-of-the-mill creepy mansion; this is one stuck in a video game, and fully aware of it.

Discover the story of how, 20 years ago, the fictional, genre-fusion video game Creepy Redneck Dinosaur Mansion was released as a smash hit. Years later, the franchise returns to the spotlight when Creepy Redneck Dinosaur Mansion 3 is shown off and announced on gaming’s biggest stage. Meanwhile, a very confused protagonist, J.J. Hardwell, fights off glitching raptors and t-rexes in what he soon realizes is a broken video game that he must save.

Combining razor-sharp game development satire, role-playing, and satisfying match-3 gameplay, Creepy Redneck Dinosaur Mansion 3 is a bizarre, side-splitting adventure about the way creations can take on a life of their own — and the bright futures the games industry fails to even try to explore.

“Development cycles usually take so long that video games can’t comment on current events, let alone the ones occurring within their own industry,” says Strange Scaffold studio head Xalavier Nelson Jr. “As improbable as it sounds, we want Creepy Redneck Dinosaur Mansion 3 of all games to take on a medium that currently doesn’t seem to care for its players or developers in a tale that is by turns unsettling, heartwarming, and suitably: angry as hell.”

Key Features

  • A “Matchtroidvania” exploring the development of a sequel to a game series that doesn’t exist.
  • Match-3 is used not just for combat, but for lockpicking doors, debating robots, and swallowing a bunch of diamonds in front of a notorious gem thief so that he can’t steal them first.
  • A choice-based narrative that is part survival-horror parody and part joyful wheel-spinning nightmare.
  • The game is complemented by a haunting, polka soundtrack from award-winning composer David Mason (Dredge, Life Eater).

Creepy Redneck Dinosaur Mansion 3’s first two chapters are available to play in their entirety through Steam Next Fest, with some special additions in the demo to reflect the event. The full game launches this April on Steam for PC.

Play the extended demo of acclaimed dungeon defense board game adaptation Keep the Heroes Out!

Try new stages during Steam Next Fest – today through March 3rd

Halifax, Canada, February 24th, 2024 – Board game creator Brueh Games and video game developer YarnCat Games have released a new limited time demo for their video game adaptation of Luís Brueh’s acclaimed strategy board game Keep the Heroes Out! Due for an early 2025 launch on PC, Mac and consoles, Keep the Heroes Out! raised over 22x its Kickstarter goal last year, with an ending tally of $224,556.

From now through the end of Steam Next Fest on March 3rd, you’ll be able to play an extended demo encapsulating the game’s tutorial and first four stages. After Steam Next Fest the demo will revert to a smaller section of only the tutorial and first stage.

Keep the Heroes Out! is an asymmetric, cooperative dungeon defense game for 1-4 players where you play as the monsters protecting their hard-earned treasures against invading hordes of “heroes” trying to steal it. This digital rendition of Keep the Heroes Out! offers the same asymmetric, co-op dungeon defense gameplay as its tabletop counterpart with a bevy of added extras.

Your goal as a team is to survive going through the Guild deck two times, protecting the treasures in each room. If the main treasure is taken, the game ends in defeat, but if you manage to protect your treasures for long enough, you all win. Monsters may die, which is tragic, but you can always bring them back to the dungeon, so you are never eliminated from the game. However, once the treasure is gone, it’s gone forever.

The digital game brings the tabletop experience faithfully to life, with the same art style and gameplay, only now being that the computer controls the nasty heroes invading our lair. This means you can play solo against the AI, or get a gaming going remotely with your friends from afar. Furthermore, YarnCat Games has boosted the visuals with fluid animation and a tutorial to help onboard new players. There’s never been an easier, more convenient way to get into hero thwarting!

The original board game version of Keep the Heroes Out! was a massive success, selling over 70,000 copies since its launch in 2022. It became a Golden Geek Best Cooperative Game Nominee at BoardGameGeek, where it’s currently ranked as the 473rd best board game of all time out of a database of roughly 156,000 titles. For thematic games, it’s even ranked as the 80th best board game out there!

“We’re thrilled that people are so eager to play this digital adaptation of Keep the Heroes Out!” said Luís Brueh, Founder of Brueh Games and solo creator of the board game version of Keep the Heroes Out! “We wanted to bring Keep the Heroes Out! to people who want to play with their friends from afar remotely, or play solo against the AI, so we’re very excited that YarnCat Games has joined us to make this vision a reality.”
