So this is a story that I’ve been following all day and have yet to see any kind of actual confirmation on. But a site called Gengame has reported that there will be a translated edition of the somewhat official The Legend of Zelda encyclopaedia – The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia.
The original story, posted here, tells us that the book will be released by Dark Horse in January 2013 but links to a source that is completely unavailable. The source is this. It then copy-pastes this blurb from the unverifiable source –
Dark Horse Books and Nintendo team up to bring you The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia, containing an unparalleled collection of historical information on The Legend of Zelda franchise. This handsome hardcover contains never-before-seen concept art, the full history of Hyrule, the official chronology of the games, and much more! Starting with an insightful introduction by the legendary producer and video-game designer of Donkey Kong, Mario, and The Legend of Zelda, Shigeru Miyamoto, this book is crammed full of information about the storied history of Link’s adventures from the creators themselves! As a bonus, The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia includes an exclusive comic by the foremost creator of The Legend of Zelda manga — Akira Himekawa!
KEY SELLING POINTS:
• The Legend of Zelda franchise has sold 68 million copies since the release of the first game, with the original Legend of Zelda being the fourth best selling NES game of all time, and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time holding the record for the highest reviewed video game of all time.
• Covers the full history of The Legend of Zelda franchise.
• With an introduction by game designer Shigeru Miyamoto.
• Includes the official timeline of The Legend of Zelda games, never-before-seen concept art, The Legend of Zelda manga, in-depth information on the making of the The Legend of Zelda franchise, and art by some of the most storied concept artists in video games.
Now, with something as big as this, I was almost tempted to post it up myself with the unverified source. However, I was quite skeptical about this and actually did some research on the topic. The results of this are that the book is indeed coming out in January and Dark Horse is indeed publishing the book. This can be verified here at the official Dark Horse website. I have reproduced their description below –

So it turns out that it was all true. Journalists really need to step up their game though.
Want to see another exclusive Nintendo handheld special edition that it’s highly unlikely you will ever be able to get your mitts on? Well above is a shot of the latest Nintendo 3DS XL, coming soon to a select few places that are probably nowhere near you…
This special Pikachu 3DS XL will only be available to those who preorder it and pick it up from one of seven Pokemon Centre stores in Japan – this is not going to be sold over the counter. Sitting at the standard retail price, the handheld comes with the usual accessories and has a white inside colour to complement the shockingly cute Pikachu outer. Preorders can be made only at Pokemon Centres, with the console seeing release to preorder customers only on September 15. Heading to Japan anytime soon?
It was never really a question that a sequel to the stupidly successful The Avengers would be on the cards, and now we know exactly when it will be coming to cinemas. Disney have confirmed that the sequel to the Marvel mega hit will be released on May 1, 2015. Of course the picture is lined up to take the usual Summer blockbuster prime spot, so don’t expect that date to move too much pending any production problems.
Director Joss Whedon has also been confirmed as writer and director for the second outing, which is tentatively (not quite) titled Untitled Marvel’s Avengers Sequel. What the three year gap also allows for is plenty more solo outings for the main cast, including at least one more Thor, Iron Man and Captain America.
Fingers crossed that a few of the more obscure Avengers will manage to hit the screen by the time Avengers 2 rolls around.
Whilst full retail titles like Assassin’s Creed III and it’s Vita counterpart Liberation attract most of the attention for Ubisoft these days, the developer/publisher has just announced at Gamescom that they will be bringing three free to play online games to the world in the coming year.
The games will cover two franchises, city builder Anno (most recently seen in the future set Anno 2070) and fantasy series Might and Magic Heroes.
Anno Online will be released in autumn (Northern Hemisphere that is), and is being developed by the same team that were behind the main game. Set in medieval times, players will be able to enjoy the usual Anno gameplay in a browser based experience that will see a multiplayer mode of sorts present in the series for the first time. Players will be able to join together to create powerful empires and work towards common goals – make sure and check out the sneak peek above.
Might and Magic has two freebies on the horizon, with Might and Magic Heroes Online due in summer this year, and Might and Magic Raiders currently scheduled for a 2013 release. Online is an MMORPG that keeps to the gameplay style of the earlier Might and Magic PC titles, allowing players to work together for some epic co-op battles.
Raiders is a little further away on the horizon, but will bring more of an action RPG experience with a story starting just before the events of Heroes of Might and Magic VI. Players will pick from one of four classes and play as one of the Raiders of Ashan, defending Hammerfall in 20 minute bursts of co-op action.
What do you think of Ubisoft’s plans to bring these franchises to free to play? Let us know in the comments section below.

At what I believe will be 7PM AEST the developers behind Medal of Honor Warfighter will be holding a live Q&A panel from Gamescom Germany about the game. This is a great opportunity for fans and interested parties to learn about the upcoming title and to see if any of their concerns are unfounded.
The conference was announced on Twitter – Linked Here – and reads thus:
