UPlay PC Launched $1 Games

Ubisoft has just launched it’s latest UPlay service, UPlay PC. The PC version of the UPlay store will now be able to deliver PC games to your PC after purchasing them from the service. To celebrate this fact, Ubisoft have reduced the prices of a few games on this service down to $1AUD.

The new features of the UPlay PC service include: an integrated shop, direct purchases of downloads and games (I’m assuming DLC as well), a friends list and a live chat function; which is useful for those who don’t want to use third party software like Ventrilo or Teamspeak.

Lastly, Ubisofts amazingly reduced titles include: H.A.W.X 2, Driver: San Francisco (Amazing game, people should -really- get this and for $1, you have absolutely no reason not to) and Silent Hunter 5. Ubisoft have also taken 75% off of other titles, such as: Anno 2070™, Assassin’s Creed® II, Assassin’s Creed® Brotherhood, Assassin’s Creed® Revelations, Might & Magic®: Heroes® VI,  Tom Clancy’s® Splinter Cell Conviction®.

Be sure to update your current UPlay client by launching a UPlay compatible game, or by visiting the Ubisoft store for more information on the service.

Penelope and Monica Battle It Out in New Super Mario Bros. 2

New Super Mario Bro.s 2 goes beyond the familiar  rivalry between brothers, showcasing a new sibling rivalry for the latest commercial. The, some what awkward, advertisement features Penelope Cruz tapping away at her 3DS XL playing the latest installment in the Mario franchise. In walks her astoundingly similar-looking sister, Monica to play as Luigi, to show her who is boss. That is probably enough description, just check out the video below and be sure to ride out the awkward talking to the game scenes to be rewarded with an odd display of cosplay. Nintendo, you’ve done it again.

New Super Mario Bros. 2 Brings it’s loot to the eShop

This week on the eShop, Nintendo are ready to bring full retail titles to the service, and things are kicking off with New Super Mario Bros. 2 on August 19th. As many of you know, this title is the latest in the New Super Mario Bros. series and brings back that nostalgic side-scrolling gameplay, with a few new enemies and a new emphasis on coin collecting. New Super Mario Bros. 2 will be priced at $39.99 when it launches, and our own review will be up soon enough so keep an eye out for that.

Next up is a title for both the DSiWare and the eShop, known as Crazy Chicken Pirates 3D (non 3D for the DSi, of course). Priced at $1.99, this point n shoot romp continues the Crazy Chicken franchise in a nice, piratey environment.

Other than those releases, this week is a bit dry aside from a sale on Mario Picross (putting it at $2.99) and a new video to download that displays coin rush in NSMB2.

So, are you planning on diving into New Super Mario Bros. 2 this week?

PS Vita Price Cut Not Coming This Year

Sadly it looks like there’s not going to be a PSVITA price cut this year, in my small time with the console it’s easy to see how much potiental it has. But like me, alot of people aren’t willing to pay the price when you consider there’s already a powerful smartphone in your pocket, the main point of difference is going to have to be price and premium quality gaming.

Speaking to Eurogamer at Gamescom this week, Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida said the Vita won’t be getting a price cut any time soon.

“Of course, cost reduction is one area our engineering team is working on. But we just launched the platform earlier this year. It takes time to do so,” he said. “At a certain point in the future we would like to address the pricing issue for some of the people who are waiting. But this year we are trying to add value by creating different types of bundles. We announced we will provide LittleBigPlanet PS Vita bundle pack. That’s affordable for people who are looking for a good deal.”

Simply put, Yoshida has said “No, it’s too early”, so we’ll just have to wait. Luckily, it should come next year as Sony’s engineers are currently working out how to do it. In Australia, you’re currently looking at around the $350 for a new unit, personally I’m waiting for the Assassin’s Creed Liberty Bundle.
