Yesterday, Sega released a short trailer that was simply comprised of a few iconic game sound effects (among them being the ring noise from Sonic the Hedgehog), accompanied by a short passage of text reading “2×5”. They trailer also said “See you tomorrow”, hinting as to more details that were to be released later. Today, SEGA revealed that the prior teaser was for the Mobile 2 Collection, a collaboration of vintage SEGA titles, soon to be re-released to Xbox Live and the Playstation Network.
The games included in the new trailer included:
Virtua Fighter 2
Virtua Striker
Sonic the Fighters
Fighting Vipers
Cyber Troopers Virtual-On
These re-releases are set for staggered release date throughout late 2012 and early 2013. It has not yet been established as to whether all 5 will be released in a collection together, or be available for individual download. Check out the collection trailer for yourself below!
It is time to peruse the latest offerings from Madman, a collection of TV shows and movies that will be heading to a disc spinning machine near you in the month of October. From sports docos to Korean action epics, there’s quite a range up for grabs this October.
If The Blindside was a little too sickly sweet for you to handle, then perhaps Undefeated (out now) is a better bet. Winner of an Academy Award for Best Documentary, the film follows three ‘underprivileged’ student athletes and their coaches journey through the 2009 Summer/Fall football season.
Declaration of War (out now) is a French comedy drama following the journey of young couple Romeo and Juliette (clunk). Unlike their Shakespearean counterparts their rapid and intense romance produces a child rather than unfortunately timed death. The drama ratchets up when they discover that their newborn son is seriously ill.
On the opposite end of the spectrum is Once Upon a Time in Anatolia (out now), a Turkish effort revolving around the search for the body of a murder victim. As a group of men escort the suspect through the Anatolian countryside, things begin to turn on their head as more details emerge about the crime and the men in the car alike. Remaining on the murderous side of life is The Bridge (out now), with the complete first series adding to the ever growing category of Scandinavian crime drama. When the body of a woman is found on a bridge between Sweden and Denmark, two very different investigators are set on the case – family man Martin and the (now somewhat typical of the genre) cold singleton Saga. Complicating matters is the fact that the body is actually composed of two different women – one a prostitute, one a politician. The manhunt intensifies as further gruesome murders occur, with the killers anti corruption message actually winning some public support.
Korean cinemas highest grossing epic War of the Arrows, is released October 24 on DVD and Blu-Ray. Set during the second Manchurian invasion of Korea in 1636, the story follows the journey of Nam-yi, a master archer who sets out to save his sister and her husband to be after they are captured by Manchurian soldiers on their wedding day. The Blu-Ray release of the title also features an English dub.
Moving back into documentary territory is the National Geographic series Untamed Americas(October 24), which strives to showcase the diverse range of natural wonders to be found across both American continents. Also available on Blu-Ray (which can often be at it’s best with such documentaries), the four part series takes in mountains, deserts, coasts and forests. One to pick up for the natural history fans. Moving ever so slightly into travel documentaries is Joanna Lumley’s Greek Odyssey (24 October), another four part series that explores the history and culture of one of the most historically significant nations the world has seen.
From one of the most respected of British actresses soaking you in the culture of a great nation to the first film that ever received a Razzie award – Can’t Stop the Music (out now) tells the tale of the formation of the one and only Village People. Hacked to bits by critics, this “glitzy, glamorous, camp spectacular” was nonetheless a hit with fans. So that’s a 1980’s film about The Village People – what more do you need to know?
If camp and glam isn’t enough, then how about some raunchy anime comedy? The Season 1 Collection of Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt is due for release on October 24, bringing with it 325 minutes of nuttiness. You can check out the review for the show here, where it scored a mighty impressive 9.5 out of 10 for it’s off the wall tone and foul mouthed humour.
Rolling back the animated clock brings us to the Complete Collection of Samurai Jack(out now), which Cartoon Network fans ill doubtless remember fondly from their childhoods. This is the first time that the entire collection of episodes has been gathered together in one release, so if you’ve been hesitant to cathch up on an old favourite then now is certainly the time.
Ever grown tired of simply killing every enemy you come across? Well today you can go to the store and pick up Mugen Souls by NIS America and Compile Heart and although you can still kill everything that stands in your way, you can also execute a special Moe Kill technique and turn your enemies into various items.
Now that Mugen Souls is available in stores, exclusively on the PlayStation 3, players will be able to join Chou-Chou as she ventures through the galaxy in an effort to make every world in the galaxy bow to her. Players will be able to explore seven different worlds, fight against monsters using some crazy looking link attacks in a free-roaming battle system and create and train a number of new characters by creating peons.
As any veteran Harvest Moon player knows, it takes a lot of effort to have your cows and chickens produce golden milk and eggs. However once those golden items are obtained they are not only worth all that effort thanks to their stellar quality, but also because they sell for quite a high price.
As such, having certain items go gold is quite an accomplishment in Harvest Moon and Natsume knows that better than anyone. Today the company announced that Harvest Moon: A New Beginning, the first Harvest Moon game exclusively made for the Nintendo 3DS, has gone gold and will be ready for purchase at stores on November 6th.
Those who feel like pre-ordering from Natsume’s Online Storewill be able to receive a few special items, though your time is running out to secure a 15th Anniversary Edition of Harvest Moon: A New Beginning as they will no longer be available for pre-order after October 23rd. If you do miss out on that however, you can still pre-order the basic edition and receive the Yak plushie seen above instead.
As many of you know, Dead Space 3 is set to be released sometime in February 13 and today EA revealed what type of bonuses will be included in the “Limited Edition” version of the game. In the short trailer below you will see both bonus sets in action as Isaac takes down various necromorphs.
The two bundles shown off in the video are “Witness the Truth” and “First Contact.” The Witness the Truth bundle includes a Witness suit that makes it easier to explore the frozen planet’s environment and the Evangelizer weapon which pulls double duty as a shotgun and also an assault rifle.
The First Contact pack includes a special First Contact Suit that allows for long-term space exposure, likely meaning a bigger oxygen tank, as well as a Negotiator weapon that is called a “Tesla-powered instrument.”
Recently, Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two was announced as a Wii U launch title. Now if you remember, the first game was beautiful in concept, but a bit flawed in design. This time around a lot more attention has been placed in the gameplay section, and things have come together quite swimmingly.
In a new trailer released today by Disney, Warren Spector gives players a run down of the game itself, detailing how the paint thinner will work to build the environment around animation’s number one superstar. Yes, it looks charming, and you can check out the trailer below for a better look.
Whether in film, TV, novels, comic books or video games; zombies have engrained themselves within our popular culture. We take a look at how the modern day zombie got its start as well as what they’ve become as a whole.

Sometimes it’s hard to describe things. You have a clear idea of what it is in your head and the moment you try and put words to it everything fumbles out of your mouth and it sounds like nonsense. This is not what our show is about. What it is about… is, well it’s about a lot of things. It’s about life, it’s about love, it’s about you.
The Uncanny Valley is a documentary styled show that tells stories about people who love things not because they’re cool; but for the pure sake of loving them. It’s about that time you camped out in the rain for first screening tickets to Star Wars; but it’s not about Star Wars. It’s about all those hours spent putting together and crafting the perfect costume for that cosplay convention; but it’s not about anime. It’s even about how you took first place in that Starcraft competition; but it’s not about video games.
This is a show about the people who never let that childlike love of things escape. Enjoy video below :
Be sure to also check out the 1st and 3rd Episode of The Uncanny Valley below.
Namco Bandai in Europe has prepared another set of DLC for One Piece: Pirate Warriors, bringing the total batch number to 4. This current piece of DLC will add a new costume and scenario for Luffy’s brother Ace who also is a member of the Whitebeard pirates.
The DLC has been shown off below and you can see that it will include a Strong World movie costume for Ace as well as “The Great Navy Caper” scenario to play through. Those interested in picking up the DLC will have to pay €2.99 to download it. Interestingly enough, no DLC has been announced or dated for North America at this time.

Tecmo Koei has made a number of announcement’s for European release today, but before we mention the already expected releases, we have some rather important news. One of the game’s set for release happens to be Atelier Ayesha which will be released in Q1 2013 for the PlayStation 3. This is the first time that any company has mentioned bringing the title over to the West since it’s release in Japan.
Atelier Ayesha will go by the name of Atelier Ayesha: The Alchemist of Twilight Land in Europe. As for the other games announced for Euroeapn release, we have Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus arriving in Q1 2013, Fist of the North Star: Ken’s Rage 2 on February 2013, and Warriors Orochi 3 Hyper on November 30th.
Currently there has been no word of Atelier Ayesha being released in North America in any shape or form, though it is worth noting that Tecmo Koei usually releases Atelier titles in European countries while NIS America handles North American releases for the game. Does this mean we may hear something from NIS America in the coming days?
