Watch the reveal of boundless space sandbox MMORPG Interstellar Utopia

Step into its starship-themed sci-fi showcase at gamescom!

August 21 – Veteran Chinese studio Pixel Software has partnered with publisher Tencent to reveal their open-world sandbox MMORPG Interstellar Utopia. Featuring an expansive, original sci-fi universe full of starships, cyborgs, intergalactic exploration and resource gathering, Interstellar Utopia offers the next wondrous sci-fi universe to get lost in!

While Interstellar Utopia is planned for a 2026 launch, you can see it for yourselves right now at gamescom! Its can’t-miss starship-themed booth lets players step into a futuristic exhibition space inspired by Interstellar Utopia. Featuring game-themed standees, cybernetic character displays, and an array of exclusive giveaways – all celebrating the game’s high-tech, spacefaring aesthetic.

Featuring playable demo booths, you’ll be able to dive headfirst into Interstellar Utopia’s boundless universe well ahead of its launch. Don’t forget to check out the Ultimate Photo Op: the “Mind Upload Terminal”. Based on Interstellar Utopia’s “Neural Upload Station” – where humans upload their consciousness to attain immortality as cyborgs –  this art installation lets visitors “digitize” their essence and view themselves reborn as cyborgs – embodying the game’s mantra: “Everything Can Be Cyberized!”

Set over 400 years in the future, Interstellar Utopia follows humanity’s last exodus after an alien invasion forced Earth’s survivors to flee as digital consciousnesses into the cosmic void. Now, diverse civilizations with their own varied histories and cultures are spread throughout the galaxy, just waiting to be explored.

Interstellar Utopia lets players explore a vast, living universe where you can travel through ecologically diverse seamless maps with no loading screens. Play as multiple Cyborg races, each with their own unique traits and tech. Arm yourself with a robust sci-fi arsenal of customizable future-tech gadgets, modifiable mechs, and interstellar vessels. Offering true freedom with crafting and building, players are able to reshape worlds. Open-ended progression means players are free to choose their own path through this boundless universe as they forge alliances or rivalries across a unified global server.

“At the heart of Interstellar Utopia’s design lies one core principle: putting players in control,” said Kun Liu, Producer at Pixel Software. “Will you be a lone gunslinger piloting a mech across the stars? A trader forging alliances to monopolize the galactic tech tree? A pioneer terraforming barren worlds into thriving multi-species colonies? Or a warlord igniting faction wars on the fringes of known space? Every choice matters, with players shaping unique civilizations. That’s why we included “Utopia” in the title: it’s a promise of infinite possibilities, everywhere.”

Capcom Decodes New PRAGMATA Artwork and Gameplay Details

London (August 21, 2025) Today, Capcom is celebrating the public’s long-awaited first opportunity to go hands-on with PRAGMATA™ at Gamescom 2025. To mark the occasion, Capcom has revealed new intel on the highly anticipated sci-fi adventure title, decrypting more information on the action-packed Hacking gameplay and sharing an assortment of new character and enemy art.

As protagonists Hugh and Diana journey to escape the lunar research station, a variety of threats stand in their way. These foes include the Walkers. Humanoid bots based off the M4 series, they are among Delphi Corporation’s most successful products. The Walkers’ ability to use tools and work alongside humans made them a popular choice for support roles. In lunar environments, the improved M4AM design is capable of handling low-gravity, vacuum-like conditions.

Another powerful enemy players will face is a boss known as the SectorGuard. The SectorGuard, from product line S-35, is a large-sized bot developed by Delphi’s military manufacturing division. It was built mainly to protect sensitive or high-priority installations. The spherical modules located on both its arms are fitted with guided weaponry and low-gravity ballistics. Players will need to utilize Hugh’s thrusters to dodge its attacks so Diana can Hack its defences.

During the fight against the SectorGuard, players will encounter a new Hacking ability called Overdrive Protocol. As its gauge fills up, Diana unlocks the ability to simultaneously Hack the surrounding enemies, forcibly opening up their armour and temporarily halting their movement. It’s a powerful attack, but it’s also one that is best used carefully at the right moment!

To enhance Diana’s Hacking abilities, players can also collect Hack Nodes from the environment to use in combat. Activated by passing through them in the Hacking Matrix, these consumable nodes temporarily lower enemies’ defences. Hack Nodes add a layer of complexity to the game’s unique combat system and provide more opportunities to make strategic decisions in the heat of battle. One of these Hack Nodes, the Decode Node, can lower enemies’ defences for a limited time. Stay tuned to learn more about how the gameplay experience will continue to evolve.

Fans can go hands-on with PRAGMATA this week at Gamescom 2025. Players can also get a feel for the Hacking mechanics by visiting the official website and trying a special “Hacking Minigame” that can be played in web browsers.

PRAGMATA launches in 2026 for PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam via PC. PRAGMATA is also now available to wishlist on the PlayStation Store and Steam.

The race to preserve humanity’s legacy has started: Lunar Strike announced at gamescom

Cognition Europe unveils an adventure & exploration sci-fi game that’s out of this world.

Zaventem, Belgium – Thursday, 21st August 2025 — Independent studio, Cognition Europe, has announced its debut title, Lunar Strike, a sci-fi narrative adventure and exploration game set on the hostile environment of the Moon’s south pole. Launching on Steam and consoles in 2026 (with wishlisting now available)  Lunar Strike is set in 2119 on humanity’s final lunar colony, as it faces an impending, catastrophic threat from the heavens…

Revealed in a teaser trailer as part of FGS Live at gamescom, Lunar Strike blends speculative fiction with a game world grounded in hard science – including orbital dynamics and applied astrophysics – and ethical decision making, as players try to archive humanity’s scientific and cultural legacy before it’s lost forever.

Watch the extended announcement trailer

Lunar Strike focuses on compelling survival and character-driven storytelling over combat, as the protagonist – a tech-augmented archivist – races against time to preserve the evidence of humanity’s presence on the Moon before its inevitable collapse and destruction. As players navigate the increasingly deteriorating base in lunar gravity, they will have to prioritise what real-world historical space artefacts are saved, and what is lost… forever.

Developed with ethical questions of legacy, memory, and responsibility at its heart, players will face increasingly difficult challenges to build and preserve the archive, with multiple outcomes driven by their decisions and values.

Lunar Strike Key Features

  • Rich, multi-faceted narrative: Preserve the culture of the last lunar colony while making game-altering decisions that impact the story unravelling a new future for humanity.
  • No Combat: Lunar Strike focuses on survival, scanning, puzzle solving, and decision-making. The gameplay unfolds under time pressures, environmental degradation, and mounting ethical tension.
  • Grounded in Hard Science: Developed in collaboration with space researchers, the game incorporates realistic systems and hazards, including 1/6th lunar gravity, toxic Moon dust, and real-world physics.
  • Cultural Heritage as Gameplay: Preserve humanity’s story on the Moon. Through 3D scanning, photogrammetry, and archival logic, capture the final traces of lunar life before its collapse.
  • Rooted in Real Ethics and Science Fiction: Inspired by real-life heritage efforts, built by creators with backgrounds in cultural preservation and storytelling, Lunar Strike invites thoughtful engagement with space exploration.

Brian Pope, Creative Director, Cognition Europe, said:Lunar Strike has been developed from the outset to be grounded in real-world science and lunar research, while delivering a branching, character-driven narrative where every item preserved (or lost) by the player moulds the future record of humanity’s presence on our only natural satellite.

Lunar Strike is our way of making a call to action that we should be looking to safeguard humanity’s heritage while embracing technological advancements, including AI, as positive forces for our collective future,” he added.

About Cognition Europe

Cognition Europe is an independent studio based in Belgium, focused on narrative design, speculative science, and system-based storytelling. The team includes developers, researchers, sound designers, and advisors from across the space science and cultural heritage sectors. Lunar Strike is the studio’s debut title.

Xbox Announces Release Date for ROG Xbox Ally Handhelds

Today, during the Xbox broadcast at gamescom 2025, Xbox announced that the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X will launch on October 16, just in time for the holidays. First revealed earlier this year at the Xbox Games Showcase, these devices deliver an era of handheld gaming that makes it easier than ever to access your favorite games from Xbox, Battle.net, and other leading PC storefronts wherever you go.

On October 16, 2025, the Xbox Ally handhelds will be available in Australia. Stay tuned for more details about pricing and pre-orders in the coming weeks.

In addition to the above, Xbox also announced the Handheld Compatibility Program, a new Xbox initiative designed to make more games ready to play on your supported handheld. At launch, players will be able to see handheld compatibility directly in their game library by looking for the “Handheld Optimized” or “Mostly Compatible” badges. By working with game studios to test, optimize, and verify thousands of games for handheld compatibility, players can jump into games without having to tweak settings, or only requiring minor adjustments. Games will also feature a Windows Performance Fit indicator to reflect expected performance on their supported device.

Xbox is continuing to build new features and options to elevate the handheld experience. Today, we’re excited to introduce the following features for the ROG Xbox Ally handhelds:

  • Advanced shader delivery: A new feature that preloads game shaders during download, so select games launch up to 10x faster, run smoother, and use less battery on first play.
  • New upcoming AI-powered features starting early next year on the ROG Xbox Ally X that enhance play, including:
  • Automatic Super Resolution (Auto SR): A system-level feature that uses the power of the NPU to upscale games running at lower resolutions—delivering high-resolution visuals and smooth framerates across a wide range of games, with no additional changes required from game developers.
  • Highlight reels: AI captures your standout gameplay moments—like epic boss battles or victories—and generates short replay clips for you to share with friends or on social channels.

Players can also check out the ROG Raikiri II Xbox Wireless Controller, created by ASUS through the Designed for Xbox program, that features a 1000Hz polling rate in PC mode, anti-drift TMR joysticks, and dual-mode triggers.
