BURLINGAME, Calif. – August 13th, 2015 – KOEI TECMO America today revealed new information and assets for the upcoming tactical action title Samurai Warriors 4-II, slated to release on September 29,  2015 for the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, and digitally on the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, PlayStation®Vita handheld entertainment system, and on PC via Steam®.

Samurai Warriors 4-II introduces a brand new and exciting mode designed to test players’ skills and resilience. In this Survival Mode, players push themselves to the limit by taking control of their favorite character and entering a daunting castle with endless levels and countless rewards! Defeating thousands of enemies and completing objectives are rewarded with weapons and mounts to be used in the game’s story mode, but only if the player escapes the castle before the health or time bars deplete. The higher the climb, the more difficult and numerous the enemies are, and the more lucrative the rewards.

In addition, the Endless Castle offers a Challenge Mode, which allows players to set high scores in various Chambers:

  • The Chamber of Trials is all about defeating as many enemies as possible within a given time frame.
  • The Chamber of Riches focuses on collecting as much gold as possible before time runs out.
  • The Chamber of Agility tests the player’s skill as it requires defeating enemy standard bearers and reaching a target destination in time.
  • The Chamber of Death poses an extreme challenge as enemies deal overpowering blows that could kill low level playable characters instantly!

Furthermore, KOEI TECMO released today the identities of four more Samurai whose personal stories will unfold in Samurai Warriors 4-II:

  • Toyohisa Shimazu – a young lord eager to match his elders’ skill.
  • Kojūrō Katakura – his story of loyalty to his master, Masamune Date, is a magnificent tale of devotion.
  • Kagekatsu Uesugi – a laconic man whose battle prowess will inspire his entire clan.
  • Takakage Kobayakawa – a man of great mercy and compassion who always looked to end battles with the least casualties possible.

To celebrate this announcement, KOEI TECMO has unveiled new screenshots of the Samurai in Samurai Warriors 4-II as well as four gameplay videos that briefly showcase the various offerings of both Survival Mode and Challenge Mode.

Bandai Namco and The Farm 51 Show off New Footage for Get Even

get-even-trailer-screenshot-01

Get Even looks different and fresh, yet is still mysterious at the same time. In the trailer, we see what seems to be a new perspective on a FPS, but before the end hits – the world begins to break in a digital fashion and we see a girl tied up. Bandai Namco and The Farm 51 elaborate a bit more in the press release of what is real and what is all imagination.

Get Even is the psychological thriller movie genre made video game, blurring lines and blending the frantic tension of the FPS
genre with the oppressive intimacy of a complex personal investigation. Eschewing the usual clichés and gung-ho scenarios currently inhabiting the FPS genre, Get Even packs an alternative, mature and intriguing story combined with strong shooter elements.

“We’re pleased to be working with BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment to publish Get Even globally. We are convinced that they are deeply committed to help us make this game a unique experience. Not only will BANDAI NAMCO publish Get Even, but they are also helping us on a production level and fully support our vision of the game. We believe Get Even is an innovative landmark in the FPS genre and expertise provided by BANDAI NAMCO will be a very important factor in helping us realize its potential – said Wojciech Pazdur, Development Director at The Farm 51.

It certainly looks to be an interesting choice for the publisher, and one that hopefully will pay off by using our own genres against us. Check out the teaser below and you can find Get Even on consoles next year.

Dying Light: The Following Reveal Trailer | Price and Season Pass Offer Detailed

Dying Light: The Following Reveal Trailer | Price and Season Pass Offer Detailed

August 13th, 2015 – Wroclaw, Poland/ After a successful showing at Gamescom 2015, Techland has released the reveal trailer for Dying Light: The Following – a story-based expansion set in a massive new area that’s as big as the original maps from Dying Light combined. Dying Light: The Following will see Kyle Crane travel to a hazardous outback ruled by mysterious and fanatical cultists whose beliefs have unnerving connections with the zombie outbreak.

The trailer can be viewed here

To get close to the cult and unravel their secrets, players will need to earn the trust of the locals. Through various missions and tasks, players will be able to choose their own path for infiltrating the inner circles of the cultists. In order to succeed in this harsh countryside, players will also gain access to fully customizable and upgradable dirt buggies. With its own unique skill tree, players will be able to traverse the vast expanse of the Harran countryside in what is their deadliest weapon yet.

Gamescom 2015 was our first chance to let people play Dying Light: The Following so I was a bit nervous – admits producer Tymon Smektała. But so many positive reactions really showed me we made the right decision to work on this expansion. With its new map and far-reaching gameplay additions, it feels like we’ve hit the sweet spot for what players are expecting from us.”

While a release date is still to be determined, Techland has confirmed that Dying Light: The Following will be priced at $14.99, while all Season Pass holders will receive the expansion completely free

Resident Evil 2 Remake Officially Approved for Development

resident-evil-2-remake-001

Fans of the Resident Evil series have long been hoping for a remake of Resident Evil 2 and with the recent HD release of Resident Evil’s first game as well as the upcoming release of Resident Evil 0 Remastered, everyone has been quite vocal in hoping that Capcom would take a chance to work on a Resident Evil 2 Remake.

Hopes were kept tempered due to the title not having a GameCube release to work off of like the previous two titles, but thankfully it seems that will not be an issue. Producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi has announced that Capcom has approved Resident Evil 2 Remake for development via a video message that you can check out below. It is worth noting that he does say that it will “be some time” before any updates on the project can be released but this is obviously some great news for fans of the classic Resident Evil titles.

Extreme Dimension Tag Blanc + Neptune Vs. Zombie Army Opening Movie Released

extreme-dimension-tag-blanc-neptune-vs-zombie-army-screenshot-014

Although Extreme Dimension Tag Blanc + Neptune Vs. Zombie Army isn’t set to be released in Japan for another two months Compile Heart has opted to release the opening movie for the title quite early. Unlike many of the other openings for past Hyperdimension Neptunia titles, this one’s opening movie features a comic book style that includes already English translated text, a strange addition considering the PS Vita title has not been announced for localization as of yet.

You can check out the opening video for Extreme Dimension Tag Blanc + Neptune Vs. Zombie Army below while the game itself will be released for the PlayStation Vita in Japan on October 15th.

Dragon Quest XI was announced by Square Enix earlier this month and today the company has released the first screenshots for what will be called Dragon Quest XI: In Search of Departed Time when it is released sometime in 2016 for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo 3DS to coincide with the series’ 30th Anniversary.

As you can see in the screenshots below, there is a rather stark graphical difference as well as gameplay style between the console and handheld versions of Dragon Quest XI: In Search of Departed Time though more details about that will likely be revealed in the upcoming months.

Yakuza-5-screenshot-038

Back in June Sega and Sony released the first developer interview for Yakuza 5 and now the second interview, featuring Gio Corsi, Sony’s Director of Third Party Production and Developer Relations, speaking with Yakuza 5‘s General Director Toshihiro Nagoshi and Producer Masayoshi Yokoyama and now Sony has released the second video in the series of interviews.

This time around the video interview focuses primarily on answering questions from fans as well as talking about the hostess clubs, various locations in the game, character designs, and the street brawls. While no exact release date has been announced, Yakuza 5 will be released on the PlayStation 3 in 2015 in North America and Europe.

Gal Gun: Double Peace Worldwide Release in the Works

Gal-Gun-Double-Peace-screenshot-003

Inti Creates has revealed that they are working on giving Gal Gun: Double Peace a worldwide release. After testing the waters by asking their English speaking fans if they would like to see the ecchi rail shooter in English and receiving quite a bit of support, the company has updated their official website stating that they are looking to try and bring the PlayStation 4 and PS Vita game to the West.

It is worth noting that the company has stated in their post that they are only “at the beginning stages of this project” and that they are “searching for a publisher to work with” to bring Gal Gun: Double Peace out to English audiences.

My Hero Academia Volume 1 Released in Print in North America

my-hero-academia-artwork-02

Earlier this year Viz Media announced that they had acquired the rights to release, in my opinion, one of the hottest new titles to recently appear in Weekly Shonen Jump in the form of My Hero Academia.

While the company has provided digital releases of the title so far, this week marks the first time that a print copy of My Hero Academia has been available for purchase in North America.

The first volume of My Hero Academia, which was released yesterday, can be purchased for $9.99 and all future English releases for the series will be published bi-annually through Viz‘s Shonen Jump imprint.

For those who haven’t followed the series so far, Viz describes My Hero Academia:

What would the world be like if 80 percent of the population manifested extraordinary superpowers called “Quirks” at age four? Heroes and villains would be battling it out everywhere! Becoming a hero would mean learning to use your power, but where would you go to study? U.A. High’s Hero Program of course! But what would you do if you were one of the 20 percent who were born Quirkless?

Middle school student Izuku Midoriya wants to be a hero more than anything, but he hasn’t got an ounce of power in him. With no chance of ever getting into the prestigious U.A. High School for budding heroes, his life is looking more and more like a dead end. Then an encounter with All Might, the greatest hero of them all gives him a chance to change his destiny…
