Nintendo Comments on Status of Wii U in North America

nintendo-switch-promo-01

It seems that despite what Nintendo was initially saying about keeping the Wii U supported going forward, that the company is putting it to bed a few months prior to Switch‘s expected release window. Recently Nintendo Japan announced that they were no longer going to be producing the Wii U in any form and it looks like the same is true in North America.

In speaking to IGN, Nintendo has confirmed that all Wii U hardware in North America for this fiscal year has already been shipped to retailers and no more will be produced. The full comment from Nintendo can be found below:

“As recently posted by Nintendo on the Wii U website in Japan, Wii U production will end in the near future for the Japanese domestic market. We have nothing to announce in terms of exact timing.

We can confirm that as of today, all Wii U hardware that will be made available in the North American market for this fiscal year has already been shipped to our retail partners. We encourage anyone who wants Wii U to communicate with their preferred retail outlet to monitor availability.”

Gravity Rush 2 Goes Gold, Short Clip Released

gravity-rush-2-screenshot-031

It seems that Sony‘s delay for Gravity Rush 2 might not have been needed, at least not entirely, as the game has already gone gold two months ahead of the rescheduled release date. Director Keiichiro Toyama announced on Twitter that the company has finished developing the title and that it will be going into production and that they were able to brush up the game a bit more with the extra time they were given, though considering how cluttered the original release window was, there were more benefits than that.

To go along with this announcement a new short video featuring Kat was also released and you can view it above. As for the game itself, Gravity Rush 2 is set to be released on the PlayStation 4 on January 20th in North America and January 18th in Europe.

Though Final Fantasy XV is set to be released in just under a few weeks Square Enix has released some new information and screenshots for the long awaited game. The focus this time around is on the ability call system as well as how players can equip “sub-weapons” on their party members and a few images showing the Shiva summoning.

Each of the your party members has a special weapon they are capable of using with Ignis using lances, Prompto using machinery, and Gladioulus focusing on shields. Players may also make use of something called the “ability call” system where personal abilities can be strengthened by using AP earned throughout the journey to unlock various branching paths to help customize your party to fit your playstyle.

A few images showing off the town of Altissia city were also revealed and you can check them out below while Final Fantasy XV is slated to be released on November 29th for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Dragon Ball Fusions Release Date Brought Forward

Dragon-Ball-Fusions-Trailer-Screenshot-01

Well we don’t see this very often. The release date for the Nintendo 3DS exclusive Dragon Ball Fusions has actually been forward from it’s original December 13th release date. The new release date is the 22nd of November, that’s just one week away!

Unfortunately for those outside the US (including myself) that thought this release date change might bring the tentative February 2017 release date forward, that has not been the case. This is most likely because additional language translations are needed for releases outside the US. I’m still having fun with Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 (even more so now that a patch has addressed the loading times) so the wait will be a little less painful at least.

Dragon-Ball-Fusions-Trailer-Screenshot-04

Dragon Ball Fusions is an RPG where you create your own character and travel the Dragon World, recruiting friends who you can then perform fusions with. There are over 50 fusions in the game between the main cast with a lot more being allowed between more generic characters that you can also recruit. The battle system features a turn based system where the objective is to push an opponent outside the fighting space. The full game released in Japan back in August, receiving mostly positive reviews.
