Long-Awaited Streets of Rage 4
OST Artists Revealed: Lead Composer Olivier Derivière Details Game’s ‘East
Meets West’ Musical Direction
Adding to the Already Impressive
OST Roster that features original composers Yūzō Koshiro & Motohiro
Kawashima, the team behind Streets
of Rage 4 has Selected Guest Musicians Harumi Fujita, Scattle, Das Mörtal,
XL Middleton, Groundislava to Join the Soundtrack Lineup
PARIS
(March 19, 2020) –
Publisher and co-developer Dotemu (publisher of Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s
Trap, developer of Windjammers 1 and 2) with co-developers
Lizardcube (Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap) and Guard Crush Games (Streets
of Fury) today announced Olivier Derivière, the talent behind soundtracks
for A Plague Tale: Innocence, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Dying
Light 2 and more, is serving as Streets of Rage 4’s main composer
with support from an impressive roster of international guest musicians.
Further detailed in a video deep dive focused on the game’s musical direction, Streets of Rage 4 will also include new contributions from Scattle (Hotline Miami 1 & 2), Das Mörtal (Hotline Miami 2), XL Middleton, and Groundislava. Sample one of Derivière’s Streets of Rage 4 beats and learn more about the new guest composers by viewing the video in full here:
Derivière’s
musical vision echoes the philosophy at the heart of Streets of Rage 4:
infusing the timeless, classic elements of the original Streets of Rage games
with a modern approach to gameplay, art and design, channeling the nostalgic
glory of the genre-defining beat-em-ups through the music of series composers
Yūzō Koshiro and Motohiro Kawashima, along with featured Japanese composers,
while instilling a unique spirit throughout Streets of Rage 4 via
Western artists and Derivière’s sonic creations.
In
celebration of today’s announcement, four tracks from Streets of Rage 4’s
soundtrack courtesy of Olivier Derivière, Das Mörtal, and Groundislava are now
streamable on Dotemu’s Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/dotemu-games
This
collaboration will see each guest composer contributing distinctive,
pulse-spiking boss fight themes. Furthering the creative commitment for an
authentic Streets of Rage experience, Koshiro and Kawashima carry special and
expanded presences throughout Streets of Rage 4 and have each provided
several tracks; Koshiro’s contributions include both the game’s main theme as
well as the song backing the first stage in addition to other songs. The duo’s
iconic legacies are integral parts of Derivière’s goals for the soundtrack.
Due to
scheduling complications, Hideki Naganuma is regrettably no longer able to
contribute to Streets of Rage 4 for now. Harumi Fujita, an iconic
veteran musician behind a trove of classic Capcom melodies including Final
Fight, Capcom’s answer to the Streets of Rage series, has been kind enough to
share her talent instead. Fujita’s signature melodic approach to music
composition and her extensive experience with games contributing all-time
greats to the NES’ melodic library like Bionic Commando and Mega Man 3 help to
round out the Streets of Rage 4 musical lineup in a truly unique way.
The
first mainline Streets of Rage game in more than 25 years, Streets of Rage 4
reunites the series’ original brawling trio for an all-new experience backed by
a gorgeous hand-drawn art style invoking the series’ gritty urban aesthetic. Streets
of Rage 4 introduces new playable characters, expanded fighting mechanics,
and music from an all-star list of composers, making Axel, Blaze, and Adam’s
triumphant return the fight of a lifetime.
Streets
of Rage 4 will
feature music from:
Olivier Derivière (Dying Light 2, A
Plague Tale: Innocence, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, GreedFall,
Vampyr …)
Yūzō Koshiro (Streets of Rage 1, 2 & 3,
Ys I & II, Sonic the Hedgehog, The Revenge of Shinobi,
Shenmue I & II, Super Smash Bros. Brawl for 3DS and
Wii U & Ultimate, ActRaiser 1 & 2 …)
Motohiro Kawashima (Streets of Rage 2
& 3, Shinobi II, Batman Returns …)
Yoko Shimomura (Street Fighter II: The
World Warrior, Kingdom Hearts I, II & III, Super
Mario RPG, Legend of Mana, Parasite Eve …)

PRAGUE, Czech Republic – March 20, 2020
– 2019 was the busiest year in Bohemia Interactive’s 20-year
history with multiple game launches and DLC released, so it’s no surprise to
see it was one of their most successful. Last year saw overall sales reach 68
million USD, with a total of 4.5 million copies of Bohemia Interactive games
and DLC sold worldwide.
“2019 was successful thanks to our years
of ambitious development goals including multiple games and DLCs for PC and
console. Thanks to the dedication and commitment of our colleagues we were able
to release more game titles in just one year than we have ever before. These
launch successes are reflected in outstanding financial results which will help
Bohemia in the upcoming years as we plan to develop new gaming
experiences,” says Marek Španěl, CEO of Bohemia Interactive, regarding
the results of 2019.
DAYZ – A BIG SUCCESS BOLSTERED BY
CONSOLE RELEASES
The sale’s highlight of 2019 was the online survival game DayZ (dayz.com), which built upon the PC version’s success by its
release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. During the 2019, copies of the base game
alone sold over 1.1 million and have boosted lifetime units of DayZ (and its
DLC) to more than 5.8 million sales. The Livonia DLC received a positive
reception in the community and currently stands at around 400 thousand copies
sold.
ARMA 3 – STILL GOING STRONG AFTER
6 YEARS
The continued popularity of the long-standing, military franchise
Arma (arma3.com) also reinforced the year’s successes. During
2019, copies of Arma 3 – along with its various DLCs – topped 2.6 million units
sold, which showcased the series’ enduring relevance, and brought the number of
lifetime base game sales to over 5.5 million and DLC sales up to 9.7 million.
VIGOR – EXPERIENCED BY 4 MILLION+
PLAYERS
After a year of being in the Game Preview program, the Xbox One
exclusive, free-to-play, loot ‘n’ shooter title, Vigor (vigorgame.com), was released. This nontraditional game,
based in post-war Norway, caught the eye of many international players with its
distinctive genre and style. Before releasing as a free-to-play version, the
game was tried by 700 thousand players. Now, more than 4 million have jumped in
to play, with numbers climbing daily – mainly thanks to a steady stream of
feedback from the community, which continually helps shape the upcoming content
for Vigor.
YLANDS – IS NOW FREE FOR PC AND
MOBILE
Another game which left its Early Access version is Ylands (ylands.com), a creative platform for PC and mobile phones.
In 2020, Ylands will receive a few major updates. General polishing and feature
progression remain an ongoing priority, and a lot of exciting additions – which
will unleash Ylands’ full potential – are on the horizon.
BOHEMIA INTERACTIVE AND ITS NEW
TECHNOLOGY
At the end of 2019, Bohemia Interactive celebrated its 20th birthday in the best possible way: successfully finishing all in-development titles (along with excellent sales). The year 2020 will be a revolutionary year for Bohemia Interactive and its games – Bohemia will introduce their new technology called Enfusion, which will be the core of Bohemia’s future games. Invite Fellow Humans to Enjoy Speaking
Simulator’s Cooperative Multiplayer Update
Online Co-Op via Steam Remote Play, and now
Twitch Can Play Speaking Simulator
BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA – 20
March, 2020 – Speaking Simulator, the hilarious game about an android struggling
to infiltrate human society developed by Affable Games, upgrades today with free content including
co-op via Steam Remote Play, improved controls, a smoother difficulty curve,
and Twitch integration that enables viewers to directly simulate speech.
Turns out manipulating a
robot capable of simulating human speech in awkward social situations comes
with a few difficulties. Starting today, Steam Remote Play’s co-op capabilities
make it possible to divvy up the control responsibilities between multiple
players. Those lucky enough to have a real “human” friend in close proximity
can play couch co-op. Work together to manipulate the mandibles and waggle the
android’s synthetic, unruly tongue.
To ensure a suave
smooth-talking experience, Affable listened to fan feedback and made tongue
control more responsive. A new difficulty system takes advantage of these
tighter controls: players can decide how much of the android they want to
manipulate. On higher difficulties, more parts of the robot come into play,
such as its eyebrows. Each extra upgrade module enabled in social interactions
increases the score multiplier.
In hopes of expediting
the robots’ rise to power over the world, Speaking Simulator now has
Twitch integration. Typing commands like “mouth open” into chat while watching
a favorite streamer play allows viewers to directly impact the game. Help or
harm streamers, or interact with Affable’s Twitch channel to see how well a
hivemind can infiltrate humanity. Contribute to the beginning of man’s downfall
today at 1PM EDT on Affable’s channel.
“Delegating
responsibilities and working together to control Speaking Simulator’s
robot is hilarious,” said Jed Dawson, co-founder at Affable Games. “We also
think it makes our game more approachable, so we look forward to new players
embracing our strange universe.”
Speaking Simulator is available in English, French, Italian,
German, Spanish, Russian, Korean and Traditional and Simplified Chinese today
on Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. For a limited time, players can purchase Speaking
Simulator at a 35% discount on Steam, bringing the price down to just under
$10 USD.
To learn more, please
visit the game’s official site and Discord or follow the game on Twitter and Facebook.
