A night of ‘might have beens’ for quick Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN racers in China

A night of ‘might have beens’ for quick Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN racers in China

Hinwil, 21 April 2020 – It was a night of missed opportunities as the Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN team saw two positive results slip through their fingers at the Chinese Virtual Grand Prix. Antonio Giovinazzi was victim of technical issues – a disconnection from the race – when running in a solid P8, while Pro racer Daniel Bereznay missed out on a podium finish in the closing stages of the Pro Exhibition race after suffering from damage with mere laps to go.

In what proved to be an exciting night of racing, Antonio and teammate, Juan Manuel Correa, flew the flag for the team against an increasingly competitive line-up of drivers. Antonio made a good getaway from the grid, running in the top ten for the majority of the race. Unfortunately, with just six laps to go and after having repelled the attacks of F3 racer Liam Lawson on a number of occasions, it was a network glitch that finally had the best of the man in car #99. Juan Manuel, on his debut in the Virtual Grand Prix series and in one of his first appearances on the official Formula One game, was a creditable P14 after executing an alternative strategy and coming on top of an exciting battle with Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.

Earlier in the evening, in the F1 Esports Pro Exhibition race, Daniel Bereznay and James Baldwin put in a good performance for the team: the Hungarian spent most of the race in a podium position, eventually crossing the line in P5 after coming out worse in a battle with rivals; while Baldwin, hampered by a qualifying that left him only 12th on the grid, was unable to show all his pace and finished in P13.

Antonio Giovinazzi: “It’s a shame to end a race like this, through no fault of our own. It had been a good race up to that point, with a good start and first lap and a few exciting battles until the disconnection.”

Juan Manuel Correa: “it was great fun to compete against such a great field and I am happy about my race. I didn’t get a great qualifying – I still need to work on my one-lap pace in the game as there’s quite a few settings to master for it. I had a really good start, I was up to P9, and then I decided to go on a long strategy, staying out for 13 laps. This choice got me all the way up to P5, but then I boxed and came out in 15th. I chased Thibaut [Courtois] for the rest of the race: he was tough to follow as he had great pace, but I eventually managed to pass him. We fought for position until the end.”

Daniel Bereznay: “P5 is a solid result, I am happy with it in this very strong field. I was up in P3 for most of the race, but then I got some front wing damage in a hard but fair battle with [Williams driver Alvaro] Carreton and dropped to fifth. Brendon Leigh and Frede Rasmussen were just faster this time so well done to them, hopefully the next track will play more to my characteristics.”

James Baldwin: “The racing was tricky, especially with the changing conditions in qualifying. Ultimately, the grid was very close but starting in P12 is a real handicap at this level. I felt my pace was fairly good, but the race just didn’t go my way. It is definitely time to make F1 my one and only focus within Esports if I am to be at the front.”

Kingston Technology Leads Channel SSD Shipments in 2019 Strong Business Position Continues into 2020

Kingston Technology Leads Channel SSD Shipments in 2019 Strong Business Position Continues into 2020

Taipei – April 21, 2020 – Kingston Technology, a world leader in memory products and technology solutions, today announced its SSD business continues to grow at a strong rate following an astounding 2019. SSD demand through Q1 2020 remained high due to continued growth in the client, enterprise and OEM sectors. Since 2019, Kingston has broadened its SSD portfolio with three new client SSDs, five data center-specific drives ― two of which achieved VMware Ready status ― and launched its first U.2 NVMe PCIe solution.

Market share data for 2019 from analyst research companies Forward Insights and TRENDFOCUS showed Kingston in a strong leadership position. Forward Insights ranked Kingston in first place in worldwide channel SSD shipments with 18.3 percent market share, ahead of semiconductor manufacturers Western Digital and Samsung (16.5 percent and 15.1 percent, respectively). According to Forward Insights, almost 120 million SSDs were shipped in the channel in 2019.

“Demand in the channel remained very high as overall shipments increased 36 percent from 2018,” said Gregory Wong, president and principal analyst, Forward Insights. “Kingston’s competitive product portfolio and extensive distribution enabled it to outgrow the market by a factor of two.”

TRENDFOCUS placed Kingston as the third-largest supplier of SSDs globally, with 10.4 percent market share, behind Samsung and Western Digital. In 2019, TRENDFOCUS reported that 276 million SSDs were shipped worldwide, an increase of 36 percent year over year. NAND consumption remained high as SSD shipments continued to surge in both units and average capacities throughout the year.

“Favorable pricing for a good portion of 2019 helped drive demand in the client space, enabling increased SSD-attach rates from the OEMs,” said Don Jeanette, vice president, TRENDFOCUS. “Moving forward through the rest of 2020, SSD-attach rates in PCs will remain strong, with continued strong demand for SATA SSD in various data center deployments, as well as continued increases with Hyperscale buildouts for PCIe.”

“The 2019 research findings from both analyst firms validate Kingston’s growing presence and position in the SSD market,” said Kingston. “We continue to solidify our presence in the client space with strong SATA offerings as well as distinct NVMe solutions optimized for notebooks and desktops. In addition to the growth in OEM and partner manufacturing, we are proud to deliver several new enterprise solutions with predictable performance and greater dependability for a variety of applications and host environments.”

EA AND RESPAWN REVEAL NEW DATES IN THE APEX LEGENDS GLOBAL SERIES FOR ONLINE TOURNAMENTS #5 AND #6, WITH ONLINE TOURNAMENT #4 CONTINUING APRIL 19 AND 21

The Apex Legends Global Series Has Shown Strong Growth since Launch in January, Highlighted Most Recently By its Online Tournaments

SYDNEY, Australia – April 20, 2020 – Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: EA) and Respawn Entertainment announced that the Finals of the Apex Legends Global Series Online Tournaments (OT) #5 and #6, are both moving up one day earlier. The tournaments will now be held May 2-3 and May 30-31 respectively, in order to better fit competitors’ schedules and those able to watch online. The next event, OT #4, will occur as planned on Sunday, April 19 and end on Tuesday, April 21 AEST, with the competition being broadcast on the Apex Legends Twitch and YouTube channels.

The Apex Legends Global Series has seen significant tournament viewership growth, tripling reported Average Minute Audience (on Twitch and YouTube) from OT #2 to OT #3 in just 14 days. This was accomplished through EA and Respawn’s ability to quickly pivot, host multiple remote online tournaments and optimize their broadcast for cloud-based production, connecting players and viewers through play and action-packed entertainment.

“We’re always seeking to better serve our players and fans, and that has never been more true than it is today,” said John Nelson, Competitive Gaming Division Commissioner on Apex Legends. “We wanted to give our community the opportunity to continue to play more Apex Legends and get competitions back up and running as soon as possible while ensuring the safety of all players, viewers and staff. The early response has been outstanding, and we’re looking forward to bringing great entertainment to even more fans with our upcoming tournaments.”

Committed to continuing the Apex Legends Global Series while everyone is safe at home, EA created a cloud-based broadcast production capability – operated 100 percent remotely – to deliver high-quality competitive experiences online. EA was the first company to use this new cloud-based technology for an online broadcast when the Finals for OT #2 were aired back on March 23. This successful roll-out helped lead to the addition of three more Online Tournaments. OT#3 took place April 5 & 7 and offered Apex Legends Global Series points to those fighting their way up the leaderboard and $100K in prizes, a trend that will continue through the end of May.

Online tournaments are averaging more than 600 teams. Among the favorites in OT #4 are recently dethroned, 5x-champions TSM as well as top contenders Complexity, Team Liquid, Rogue, Luminosity Gaming, Gambit Esports, Natus Vincere, Virtus.pro, and North. Large scale Apex Legends Online Tournaments are just one of the many ways EA is bringing a positive impact to people’s lives through its Stay Home. Play Together. initiative.

The Finals of the upcoming OT#4 in Europe and North America will be streamed live on the Apex Legends Twitch and YouTube channels on April 21. Notable teams with large scale, personal fan-followings can watch their favorites compete throughout the entire tournament, while other influencers can leverage the feed to provide their own personal commentary atop the broadcast.

Winner of the best multiplayer game awards of 2019 from BAFTA and The Game Awards, Apex Legends is a free-to-play battle-royale game built for competition. The game delivers a squad-based Battle Royale experience where players select from one of 12 Legends – each with their own unique abilities and playstyles – and the last team standing wins. Combatants can choose from unique characters like Bloodhound, the tracker who can see recent enemy activity on the map, or Lifeline, a battlefield medic who can shield teammates and bring them back from the brink of death. Balanced squads and teamwork are critical, as each Legend is easy to pick up and learn, but challenging to master.

Cat Girl without Salad: Amuse-Bouche Review

Cat Girl without Salad: Amuse-Bouche

Developer: WayForward
Publisher: WayForward, Humble Bundle
Platform: Switch, PC
Release Date: 1 April 2020
Price: $7.99 USD – Available Here

Overview

A lot of major publishers are disconnected from their fans. When they do try to have a sense of humor, it usually falls flat as the joke is made to a disconnected audience. WayForward are not like most, as their audience care about their name and success. This studio’s affections towards their fans go back decades, and the feeling is mutual as delights continue to hit multiple platforms. In 2013, an insanely busy Cat Girl Without Salad proved to be an April Fool that stuck, as the game has finally landed on the Switch, without unnecessary garnishes. How does it play? Let’s find out.

Story

Cat Girl Without Salad: Amuse-Bouche puts us rather quickly into the role of Kebako, an intergalactic culinary bounty hunter. With her sidekick Squiddie in tow, she sets off to tackle enemies and cook up minor adventures against fully realized foes. Levels kind of feel like you are at the best chapter in a story, as there really is no ramp-up to the narrative. You are already there and the pace never declines until the credits roll. Sure, the game is short, but the characters and atmosphere are lovely, with a fun, memorable journey to be had. Those who played almost any WayForward title will more than likely feel right at home.

Gameplay

The gameplay in Cat Girl Without Salad is all over the place. Take a side-scrolling shooter, add in constantly changing elements, and insert heavy action sequences, and you basically have the recipe here. Kebako utilizes a pea shooter that can be upgraded through pick-ups as you move forward. The pick-ups are the gimmick here, as they change the entire playstyle based on whichever upgrade that is obtained. From a Dance Dance Revolution inspired arrow chart to power up shots to little red and green platformer men that can be fired at enemies, there are a ton of mechanics all blending together here. For the most part, they work, and function well. There are nods to several genres and they come at you quick by collecting random cartridges, with the pace making each feel fresh upon pickup.

For the price the amount of content is fulfilling, but do know this is a short game that can be beaten in a standard sitting. Levels and enemies alike are very well structured and the standard method of play encourages heavy replay. Kebako’s abilities are great, but there were times I felt that the whole experience was like a really good flash game found on a browser. I truly do not want to take away from the product by saying that, but I think most will come out of Cat Girl with similar thoughts. It handles like a browser game and the simplicity found throughout the package make it feel like a nice side offering you go to if you just want to kill a little bit of time after playing a heavier product.

Visuals

The visuals are definitely going to be loved within Cat Girl Without Salad if you are a WayForward fan. From our endearing main character to chipper and silly pack of foes, everything feels light and fun and the character designs are on point with the Mighty Switch Force and Shantae franchises. The screen has a lot going on at any giving time, and thankfully – I didn’t experience any slowdown or lapse in animation, as the polish inserted can be seen in nearly every pixel.

Audio

The music is also phenomenal. That shouldn’t be a surprise as Jake Kaufman put together these beats, but this is definitely a treat and is well worth the small price tag on its own. The voice acting is also on point, with these characters receiving a decent treatment to bring them to life. On a short side note though, is WayForward having actors send in their work from home studios? I mean, it never has bothered me, but for a while I feel like some voice acting in these sets of games has each actor sound like they are shooting on different tiers of equipment. Some come off as high quality and fluid, and others sound a little less vibrant, making conversations seem a bit off. No huge deal, just something that was noticed.

Overall

A Cat Girl Without Salad:  Amuse-Bouche is a fine game that is well worth the price of admission. This is the kind of game you need to get when you have some credit on your Switch and just want something easy and fun to play, and the content should please anyone wanting a laugh or a quick getaway from reality. I can see a lot potential for a future franchise here, joke or not, and with or without salad, this is one offering that Switch owners should start feasting upon.

KINGDOM TWO CROWNS: DEAD LANDS, A BLOODSTAINED CROSSOVER EVENT, COMING APRIL 28 TO PC, CONSOLES & MOBILE

Free update featuring characters from 505 Games & Koji Igarashi’s Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night coming with Kingdom Two Crowns’ debut on iOS, Android

STOCKHOLM April 17, 2020 — Raw Fury has revealed Kingdom Two Crowns: Dead Lands, a free new update for the hit micro-strategy game featuring content inspired by and in collaboration with the gothic horror action-RPG Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. A dark and completely new setting that will change how you rule your Kingdom, Dead Lands will be available on April 28 on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation®4, and PC via Steam, as well as with the long-awaited launch of Kingdom Two Crowns on iOS and Android that same day.

For the first time ever, Kingdom players will not only be able to change their mounts as they explore and expand their realm, they’ll also be able to switch between four new monarchs, each with a uniquely powerful trait. These four new playable characters come directly from Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, including Shardbinder Miriam and three unlockables — the demon hunter Zangetsu, summoner Gebel and alchemist Alfred. Fans of both series will find other surprises waiting for them in Dead Lands, too!

The mobile edition of Kingdom Two Crowns will launch simultaneously with the Dead Lands update on April 28 and includes special customized co-op modes, tailored touch controls, and support for wireless gamepad controllers on Android 10 and iOS 13 and up. It is available to pre-order on the App Store and pre-register via Google Play.

Published globally by 505 Games, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night was created by legendary game developer Koji “IGA” Igarashi and his studio ArtPlay. The cover illustration for Kingdom Two Crowns: Dead Lands, with Miriam riding the mythic demon horse Gamigin, is drawn by ArtPlay’s Mana Ikeda, who created the original package illustration for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.

Kingdom Two Crowns is published by Raw Fury. It is developed by Fury Studios, Coatsink and director/designer Gordon Van Dyke. For more information, visit kingdomthegame.com.
