GTFO gets massive update “The Vessel” – new environment, new enemy, more story, on June 11th

In December last year, Swedish independent game developer 10 Chambers Collective – formed in 2015 by nine industry veterans known for titles such as PAYDAY: The Heist and PAYDAY 2 – released their first game GTFO, a 4-player co-op action/horror FPS, in Early Access. It has been described as “Left 4 Dead meets Aliens”, and on June 11th it’s getting a massive update as a part of their Rundown concept, where the game is regularly updated with new expeditions (i.e. maps, scenarios, enemies, etc.) that replace the previous ones. The new update includes a new environment called “Lab”, and seven new expeditions, a collection of new weapons, and a horrifying new enemy. It will also introduce more storytelling – something there’s been a lot of theories around in the game’s very active community.

GTFO is a 4-player co-op action/horror FPS game, made for hardcore gamers looking for a challenge. The game takes place in a terrifying underground facility called “the Complex”, where your team’s survival relies on your ability to communicate, coordinate – and count your bullets. 


When released as early access in December 2019, it introduces a unique concept called the Rundown, where the developers continuously update the game with new expeditions, enemies, weapons, and other content – and these updates replace the old content, wiping the old. By doing this, their aim is to always keep the game fresh and exciting as well as to have the entire community focused on the same set of objectives.

The upcoming Rundown, the third since the game’s release and set for release on June 11th, will be named “The Vessel”, and among other things – such as the new environment, expeditions, and enemy – introduce more of the game’s backstory. While not disclosing anything visual about the new enemy, the sounds coming out of it are apparently recorded by one of the team member’s younger family members (!).

“The story of GTFO has been somewhat of a mysterium, and we also want to keep it partly that way and not disclose everything about it openly and easily accessible, as it brings together the community in discussions and helping each other find the clues and figure out how they all fit together”, says Simon Viklund, member of 10 Chambers. “In Rundown 003, The Vessel, you will be able to find more of these clues and start getting a better picture of what is really happening down in The Complex.”

10 Chambers Collective has been investing in the development of GTFO towards version 1.0; hiring help with storytelling, art, and design, as well as voice acting – keeping on in their high priority of the game’s sound design.

“For help with the story, we have Adam Gascoine, who has previously been working on games such as DOOM, DOOM Eternal, and The Last of Us. We have also added strength to programming, and design and illustration – where we have found someone very fitting for GTFO”, says Ulf Andersson, founder of 10 Chambers.

The new Rundown will also add Steam Trading Cards to the game, making it possible for players to collect and trade GTFO themed cards. 

GTFO already has a very active community, especially on Discord where they’re one of the largest servers with over 185.000 members. This Discord server is used for people to find team members as well as discussing the many mysteries of GTFO or helping new people understand the game.

This new update, named The Vessel (Rundown #003), will be available June 11th, 1 PM CET, to everyone that owns GTFO Early Access

GTFO Early Access is available on Steam for $34,99. The game will be regularly updated with new content.

SAN FRANCISCO – 2 June, 2020 –  MidBoss presents Summer of Pride 2020, the second annual celebration of LGBTQ+ diversity in games. Running from 9:00 a.m. PT today through 30 June, the event features diverse Twitch streamers playing queer-positive games and raising money for LGBTQ+ charities. A year-round queer games storefront will go live later this month, and the Steam page for MidBoss’ upcoming Read Only Memories: NEURODIVER is now live.

Raising the bar for Summer of Pride, MidBoss and participating streamers will raise money for life-changing LGBTQ+ charities Trans Lifeline, Trevor Project and GaymerX via TILTIFY. A permanent storefront for queer-positive games curated by MidBoss will launch in June in partnership with Chrono.gg.

Summer of Pride 2020 brings together queer gaming communities to celebrate diversity in the medium. Presented by MidBoss, developer of the inclusive cyberpunk adventure 2064: Read Only Memories, the event takes place on Twitch, with streams featured on the front page throughout the month and hosted on the MidBoss Twitch Channel.

This year’s livestreaming schedule includes Biqtch Puddin, winner of season 2 of “The Boulet Brothers’ DRAGULA” and previously active in the fighting game community as a competitive player. More than 70 top streamers from across the LGBTQ+ spectrum including Spofie, Mischa, iambrandon and DEERE will also take part in the festivities.

They will play more than 60 games with positive representation of queer characters, themes and stories. These include celebrated AAA titles from The Last of Us: Left Behind to the Mass Effect series and an array of indie offerings such as Sayonara Wild Hearts, Monster Prom, Always Sometimes Monsters and Fragments of Him.

Full Release Arriving Q3 2020

MILAN – 2 June, 2020 – Milky Way Prince – The Vampire Star, a visual novel from publisher Santa Ragione and creator Lorenzo Redaelli about intimacy, idealization, and abusive relationships, will make a pass at Steam and the Epic Games Store in Q3 2020. Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One releases will swipe right soon after. This story of troubled romance will have a first date in the Steam Game Festival: Summer Edition, showcasing its opening chapters with a PC demo debuting Tuesday, June 9.

Milky Way Prince follows a budding, dysfunctional relationship between two young men. Following a chance encounter, the starry-eyed Nuki falls head over heels for Sune, a brooding and mysterious character seemingly ripped from the pages of Nuki’s favorite childhood story. The ensuing dalliance isn’t without its problems, though, as it spawns an emotional whirlwind fueled by the couple’s intense psychological demons and complicated histories.

During the star-crossed lovers’ intimate encounters, Nuki can focus on his senses to guide the experience and learn more about his troubled boyfriend. Contend with discoveries about the fabled man of Nuki’s dreams while grappling with issues including idealization, submission, boundaries, and self-worth. Every decision has consequences and will coalesce to reveal hidden truths and diverge the story down branching paths leading to multiple endings.

Milky Way Prince is a semi-autobiographical tale that draws inspiration from a tumultuous romance. Redaelli is partnering with Santa Ragione, the studio behind award-winning titles such as MirrorMoon EP, FOTONICA, and Wheels of Aurelia. This is the first project published by Santa Ragione, which is now distributing independent games from talented Italian creators that share the spirit of its own impassioned, experimental works.

World’s largest online educational library launches in ANZ

Perlego provides access to major local and international publishers

Perlego, the world’s largest streaming service for educational and self-development books, has launched in Australia and New Zealand.

The platform, founded in 2016, provides unlimited access to content from many of the region’s leading publishers including Taylor & Francis, Pearson, SAGE, Bloomsbury and Cambridge University Press. 

Perlego provides access to the books required to learn or study, opposed to buying individual textbooks or visiting libraries, which hasn’t been possible during the recent pandemic.

Textbook prices have grown by more than 847%, which is three times the rate of inflation, since 1978. In Australia alone, students spend approximately $602 on textbooks every year.

Perlego offers access to more than 300,000 titles from over 2,800 publishers through an-easy-to use web and mobile app. Content from 500 topics is available; including architecture, business, history, computing, law, literature, maths, medicine, science and the arts.

London-based entrepreneurs Gauthier Van Malderen and Matt Davis founded the company after meeting at university, where they witnessed firsthand the expense of textbooks. 

CEO Gauthier Van Malderen said: “We’re hugely excited to launch in Australia and New Zealand. Here and across the world, we believe learning should be accessible to everyone, but the current challenges of the publishing industry makes this difficult.

Graffiti Games Partners with Guin Entertainment to Launch Adventures of Chris This Year

The Indie Adventure Platformer and Other Graffiti Titles to be Featured
During Next Week’s Steam Game Festival

Vancouver, Canada – June 1, 2020 – Graffiti Games announces today that it is teaming up with Guin Entertainment to publish indie action game Adventures of Chris this year. To celebrate, Graffiti and Guin are releasing a special demo during next week’s Steam Game Festival. In addition, Graffiti will also release demos for its upcoming games Bite the Bullet and Cyber Hook. Information on each title is below.
 
Adventures of Chris
Adventures of Chris is a ‘90s-inspired action game about a chubby underdog kid with wacky superpowers that must save children from around the world. Set in the greatest year ever, 1995, Chris is kidnapped, mocked and transformed into a balloon, but manages to escape by floating off on a global adventure. Driven by determination, superpowers such as fireballs, and most importantly cookies, Chris is on a mission to defeat the forces of villainy and make it home in time for dessert.

Bite the Bullet
Bite the Bullet is the world’s first Run & Gun & Eat. In this roguelite RPG shooter players must eat enemies, bullets and more to powerup their character, weapons, and abilities. Gun down zombies, robots and giant mutant bosses with a barrage of bullets before chowing down on their corpses to craft new weapons, unlock new abilities and special attacks, and transform into a powerful Zombro form to smash foes. Explore four character classes and a skill tree based on a player’s selected diet – and remember, you are what you eat!

Cyber Hook
Cyber Hook is a fast-paced, 3D platformer that has you using parkour skills and a grappling hook to scale and ride walls, while fighting enemies and blasting blocks with a laser gun. Hurtle forward in a vibrant retrowave environment to test parkour abilities, but be careful, because one missed jump can mean life or death.
