Wield Swords, Seasons, and Bravado in Ary and the Secret of Seasons September 1 on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One
Walnut Creek, Calif. (July 23, 2020) – Indie publisher Modus Games and developer eXiin today share a new features trailer alongside the news that Ary and the Secret of Seasons, the captivating action-adventure following a young girl and her awakened ability to shift the seasons around her, will launch September 1 on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
Today’s announcement joins Ary via a new trailer as she dashes, climbs, and dives through the gorgeous world of Valdi, a lush but troubled land that’s lost its once perfect balance of eternally consistent climates. Players will use the powers of the seasons throughout their grand adventure to alter their surroundings; throwing the winter sphere, for example, will create icy stalagmites to reach new areas. Using spring’s sphere can cause vines to grow in order to traverse up once-insurmountable cliffs, and refreshing summer pools allow Ary to swim across yawning chasms. Get a glimpse of Ary’s incredible potential by viewing the video here.
Ary and the Secret of Seasons finds Ary faced with a monumental challenge as she strives to aid Valdi’s Guardians of Seasons, setting out on a journey no other inhabitant of Valdi can complete. Her compelling story of defying expectations will lead her through a strikingly beautiful world as she grapples with puzzles, meets curious people, and leverages her powerful abilities for an upper hand in fluid, satisfying combat.

The gamers’ charity SpecialEffect today launches its fifth annual One Special Day fundraiser and, in the wake of the financial impact of the COVID-19 outbreak, is joined by some of the biggest names in the gaming world in what is set to be the most important event of its kind in the charity’s history.
Over 40 key players from the mobile, PC and console gaming arenas, including SEGA, Seriously, Rare, EA DICE, Jagex, Space Ape Games, Kwalee and Hello Games have already committed their support to the fundraising event and will either donate UK revenue on Friday 2nd October, make company donations, stage virtual events or engage in a range of other activities to raise money.
Whilst SpecialEffect’s income throughout the lockdown has fallen sharply, demand for their assessment and support services is as high as ever. With many disabled people locked down at home with family, finding a way to play videogames is all the more important to them and they’ve turned to SpecialEffect for help. As a result, the charity’s Service Delivery Team has adapted the way they usually work and have been carrying out online assessments and support since March.
The team at SpecialEffect have worked throughout the pandemic across all areas and continue to have a huge, positive impact on the lives of disabled gamers across the world. Collaborating with hardware companies and games developers, the charity has played a significant role in the development of the Xbox Adaptive Controller and the Logitech Adaptive Switch Kit as well as helping to make games like Forza, FIFA and Sea of Thieves more accessible. And, through their hugely popular GamesAccess website, SpecialEffect continues to deliver accessibility and training resources for thousands of disabled gamers and the global games industry.
Following the huge success of their EyeMine interface, which enables severely disabled people to play Minecraft using eye movement alone, SpecialEffect will soon be launching the eagerly awaited Eye Gaze Games. This suite of free-to-play, browser-based gaze-controlled games will enable players to compete on a level playing field against anyone, anywhere in the world.
Seriously’s CEO and Co-Founder and SpecialEffect Vice President Andrew Stalbow said “It’s been a fantastic experience working with SpecialEffect for the One Special Day campaigns since 2016, and we are working hard to make this year’s fifth anniversary event the biggest and best yet. It’s been really gratifying to see the mobile community come together to support this work, and we are hoping to have a record number of developers join us this year to enable SpecialEffect to keep helping the growing number of people who need them.”
Despite the significant financial loss for this year the Founder and CEO of SpecialEffect, Mick Donegan, is positive about the future: “Like many charities, the lost income from events cancelled because of the COVID-19 outbreak is a huge setback for us. However, the need for our advice and support not only by individuals with disabilities but by the games industry as a whole is as great as ever. As a result, the support we receive from this year’s One Special Day is more important than ever before.”
And Craig Duncan, Studio Head at Rare Ltd said “Due to their unique work, SpecialEffect hold a special place in our hearts here at RARE, and indeed across the whole of the video games industry, so we’re looking forward to once again being part of One Special Day once again this year to help Dr Mick and the team help more people who need their specialist support.”

Poland – July 23rd, 2020 – Bugbomb Games’ single-celled party brawler, Gerrrms, is now available on Nintendo Switch via the eShop for £8.99 / €9.99 / $9.99. Become the germicide master as you engage in microscopic brawls of epic proportions!
Gerrrms is a multiplayer party brawler where players take control of tiny germs as they partake in a big ole scrap for dominance within the human body. Choose from 12 quirky, germy candidates and start swinging from hooks inside a corporeal arena to move around as you engage in microbial warfare, competing in seven gutsy game modes, either in single-player or local multiplayer up to 4 players. With this two-button control scheme and straightforward gameplay mechanics, Gerrrms is the perfect game to jump into with friends regardless of their skill level.
Stand your ground against rival germs performing sick single-celled combat manoeuvres. You’ll be over-prescribed with power-ups: dropping dirty mines, packing punches, launching microscopic missiles, getting gooey to slow your opponents down, exploding in size pushing your rivals into surrounding hazards, making lightning-fast dashes or tactically using a pseudopod to transplant items with someone else – be it a flag or a bomb.
There are seven game modes on offer: Deathmatch – Swing your germ around and eliminate your foes by bouncing them onto spikes surrounding the arena. Swing for the win to be the last germ standing! Capture the Flag – With only one flag, four germs and countless obstacles, be sure to hold on for the win. Hot Potato – Bombs 101: don’t be holding it when the timer runs out… Makes a good gift for fellow germs though. Synapse Snatch – The goal is simple: grab the ball and bring it to your coloured corner. Like typical cell behaviour, there’ll be copies – stop the others from doing the same! Gobble – A germ’s gotta eat! Make sure you’re first to the feast when food spawns around the arena. Antibody – Avoid ‘Barney the Antibody’ at all costs. He’s big, mean and out to get you so keep him busy by encouraging your opponents to pay him a visit instead.
Gerrrms has been highly anticipated since its second place finish at the Big Indie Pitch at White Nights Amsterdam 2020, offering an infectious experience for all as they battle to become the germicide master!
“We’re so happy to finally bring Gerrrms to Nintendo Switch. This is the best and safest way to prescribe pain to your friends; it’s fun game modes, cute characters and frantic gameplay will be sure to keep the doctor at bay.” said Robert Kujawa, co-founder for Bugbomb Games. “Get ready for the biggest smallest battle of your life!”
In addition to its western launch, Gerrrms will be published in Japan, China and South Korea later this year.

Röki is the debut game from Polygon Treehouse, headed by Tom Jones and Alex Kanaris-Sotiriou. Here’s a message from Tom and Alex about their first launch as indies:
“For our debut indie title, we wanted to depart from the ‘shooty-shooty’ games we’d made at PlayStation and make the game about family, adventure, monsters, and kindness. When we started development three years ago the world was quite a different place, and we hope the game we’ve created and its themes are now more relevant and important than ever.”
Röki sets players off on a journey through a dark contemporary fairy tale inspired by Scandinavian folklore in the shoes of the heroine Tove, a young girl touched by magic. Players will unravel the mysteries of a mystical forest and its hidden pathways, find curious items, engage with strange creatures, and journey into Tove’s memories to directly confront her past as she attempts to save her family.
Röki Features
A 12-15 hour adventure with a modernized vision for the genre
Beautiful handcrafted graphics
Challenging, but not unforgiving gameplay
Seek out clues and drag and drop items into the environment to solve inter-linked, intuitive, and memorable puzzles.
Missing the right tool for a puzzle? Combine the unique items you’ve discovered during Tove’s journey to make new, useful items in a simple drag & drop craft system.
Open up Tove’s journal, where she makes note of the uncharted regions uncovered, the loot collected, and unique badges earned throughout. The journal also serves as a window into the rich Scandinavian folklore Röki is influenced by.
