The Deluxe Edition also includes Outposts, persistent game sessions ideal for building bases. Outposts are 1km x 1km plots of land where prospectors can build structures at their own pace and share them with friends.

When first announced in June 2020, game runner Dean Hall hoped that Icarus could be free-to-play in order to bring the survival gaming genre to as many gamers as possible. Ultimately RocketWerkz has decided to make it a paid product. “We didn’t want the business model to get in the way of the game experience,” says Hall. “We also heard loud and clear from our community that they wanted to avoid the pitfalls of free-to-play. We want Icarus to continually evolve as a living game, always adding new session challenges and game modes. We think regular chapters and content updates are a great way to deliver that.”

The New Frontier and Dangerous Horizons DLC will also be available for purchase separately in the future. RocketWerkz has also unveiled an exclusive new gameplay trailer at the PC Gaming Show during E3

About RocketWerkz

After the global success of influential survival game DayZ, Dean Hall returned to his native New Zealand. RocketWerkz opened its first studio in Dunedin, a university city in the south of New Zealand, in early 2015.

In September 2019 RocketWerkz opened a studio on the waterfront in Auckland, New Zealand’s largest city, to focus on next-gen AAA survival game Icarus. By March 2021 over 65 people were working on Icarus across both studios.

VR Adventure Rhythm of the Universe: IONIA Trailer Heralds Q3 2021 Launch

VR Adventure Rhythm of the Universe: IONIA™ Trailer Heralds Q3 2021 Launch

Epic Mega Grant, Proceeds for Non-Profit Wildlife Warriors

BOSTON — 12 June 2021 — As revealed today during the UploadVR Summer Showcase, IONIA, the first title in the Rhythm of the Universe adventure series about preserving the environment with the power of music theory from ROTU Entertainment, has received a new trailer ahead of its Q3 2021 launch for Oculus Quest, PlayStation VR, and PC VR headsets. An Epic Mega Grant will allow IONIA and following games in the series to optimize use of Unreal Engine.

Five percent of proceeds from sales of IONIA will benefit environmental non-profit Wildlife Warriors. Established in 2002 by Steve and Terri Irwin, Wildlife Warriors continues Steve “The Crocodile Hunter” Irwin‘s legacy of protecting injured, threatened or endangered wildlife. Today’s new trailer features the Irwin family in support of ROTU Entertainment’s goal of raising awareness of environmental issues.

Explore a beautiful forest populated with instrument-inspired flora and fauna in IONIA, the first of seven games making up Rhythm of the Universe. Tap plants and pet animals with VR controllers or hand tracking to create pulsing drum beats, gentle bell tones, and other melodic sounds and set the air humming with good vibrations. Climb trees or sweep aside curtains of vines in search of a way to save the Harpa, a mystic creature in grave danger.

Solve puzzles using music-based magic and reveal secret areas. Zipline across trenches in search of supplies. Delve deep into ancient ruins to unlock the power of tonal tablets and uncover the path forward. Follow a hopeful narrative through a lively ecosystem thrumming with the Rhythm of the Universe and heal the forest with the power of song.

“Entertainment without a motivation to elevate is, in my opinion, close to pointless. It is a privilege to be able to reach an audience and share your vision. To squander it on something that does not empower, educate, bolster or provoke a greater meaning feels irresponsible,” says Neville Page of Avatar, Prometheus, Star Trek: Discovery, and Picard fame. “Rhythm of the Universe embodies so much of what I believe in as a designer and a contributor on this planet. It IS entertaining. It IS captivating. It IS fun. But it is also smart, educational, and thought-provoking. Dare I say, it has the potential to open one’s mind to possibilities, both fantastic and relevant to the world we are in. A beautiful allegory packaged in stunning visuals and compelling gameplay.”

Rhythm of the Universe: IONIA will come to Oculus Quest natively as well as through Oculus Link, PSVR, Valve Index, Oculus Rift S, HTC Vive, Vive Pro, and HP Reverb G2 with English, Spanish, French, and German language support. IONIA is rated E for Everyone and equivalent in regions around the world.

Flowers Alongside Previously Announced PlayStation 5™, PlayStation 4™, Windows PC, Linux

SAN FRANCISCO – 12 June 2021 – As announced today at Guerrilla Collective, platformer Kitsune Tails, styled after beloved classics steeped in Japanese mythology and diverse relationships from developer Kitsune Games in collaboration with MidBoss™ and published for consoles by Ratalaika Games, will blossom on Nintendo Switch™ in Q1 2022.

This follow-up to Super Bernie World, which has more than 300,000 downloads across Steam and itch.io, will launch simultaneously with the previously announced PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Steam and itch.io versions on Windows and Linux.

A new trailer debuts footage of the earth-element rice farmer and snow fox outfits’ special abilities in action. Also making its first appearance, the protagonist’s weak yet adorable fox form serves as one last chance at survival before her death.

Run, jump, and drill into enemies across five 8-bit worlds inspired by Japanese mythology. Master elemental abilities hidden in cute outfits like an earthy rice farmer wielding a powerful jump attack and a snow fox freezing enemies to make new platforms. Power up with stolen skills like a giant rideable boot or an antique samurai spear. Revisit levels with newfound abilities for secrets and side quests to unlock the best ending for Kitsune Tails’ queer romance.

Yuzu begins her quest to prove to her kitsune clan, her extended family of fox-people, that her human side won’t stop her from faithfully serving as a divine messenger for the goddess Inari. However, the friendly healer Akko saves the half-kitsune hero from a mishap on her first adventure, planting the seed for a budding lesbian romance with Yuzu… and creating a jealous rival in Yuzu’s childhood friend and member of the kitsune nobility, Kiri.

“Love takes many forms, but one of the things that makes love special is it can be a vehicle for self-actualization,” said Emma ‘Eniko’ Maassen, Kitsune Games founder. “Players will need to master outfits and abilities to find all the hidden story content and unlock the best ending, and along the way they’ll explore the relationships between Yuzu, Akko, and Kiri and watch the three women grow into better versions of themselves.”

Cambridge, UK (13/06/21) – Frontier Foundry, the games label of Frontier Developments plc (AIM: FDEV) today announced its publishing partnership with Swiss based development team, Okomotive, on their next title, FAR: Changing Tides. Finding an abandoned ship, the journey to safety will take players across the horizon in a desperate bid for freedom as Toe seeks answers about what happened to their home.

Okomotive Lead Designer and Co-Founder, Don Schmocker, said, “The reception to FAR: Lone Sails was humbling, to know that people felt the same passion as we do about that world inspired us to continue to build on it with Changing Tides. We knew we wanted to tell a different, but complimentary tale, one which would be familiar to fans but fresh and exciting.”

With the same captivating art style, meditative side scrolling gameplay and haunting soundtrack from composer Joel Schoch as FAR: Lone Sails, the next entry into the world created by Okomotive will present fans with a fresh experience as they sail the high seas and scour the deepest ocean floors, later this year.

Frontier’s Head of Publishing, Zac Antonaci, said, “Signing Okomotive to Foundry was a wonderful moment for the team here as there is a huge amount of love for FAR: Lone Sails in the studio. What Don and the rest of the developers have created with Changing Tides is a fantastic continuation of their brand and we’re delighted to be involved in bringing this to fans, leveraging Frontier’s legacy as a developer and publisher.”

FAR: Changing Tides launches in late calendar 2021 on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Switch, Steam and Epic Store. The announce trailer is available here: (link). The game can be wishlisted on Steam here.
