‘90s Cross-Country Teen Crime Adventure The Big Con from Mighty Yell & Skybound Games Lands August 31 on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One & Steam

‘90s Cross-Country Teen Crime Adventure The Big Con from Mighty Yell & Skybound Games Lands August 31 on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One & Steam

You (yes, you!) can audition to voice all thirteen (13!) spoken words of dialogue
in The Big Con’s new community contest

LOS ANGELESJuly 22, 2021 — Indie developer Mighty Yell and publisher Skybound Games are paging to say the ‘90s cross-country adventure game The Big Con will launch on Aug. 31, 2021, for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam for $14.99 / €12,49 / £10.74. A classic teenage coming-of-age story, The Big Con is a hilarious trip featuring open-ended narrative, sneaky situations, puzzles and exploration… and lots of petty theft and grifting!

Release Date & Behind-the-Scenes Trailer:

Mighty Yell’s new behind-the-scenes trailer announcing The Big Con’s release date is a deep dive into the ongoing process to audition for the game’s sweeping, sprawling screenplay, an unabridged manuscript of thirteen weighty words (not a typo, it’s 13 words long). With each individual syllable carrying so much theatrical gravitas, there seemed only one logical solution: invite fans to submit their own recorded performances for a chance to have their voice appear in the game itself!

Mighty Yell asked some of gaming’s most accomplished thespians to spread the word about this search for the industry’s next big stars. Four greats who will not appear in The Big Con itself, but who are featured in the game’s new trailer — Troy Baker (The Last of Us, Uncharted), Dave Fennoy (The Walking Dead), Melissa Hutchison (The Walking Dead), and Erika Ishii (Apex Legends, Destiny 2) — have helped kick off this fun community contest today.

From July 22 until July 29, those based in the United States can submit your very own audition tape! We’ve made it radically easy for anyone to rival some of the industry’s best voice talent. It’s never been simpler: just go to https://www.thebigcongame.com/bigcontest to learn how.

The Big Con is all about Ali, a teenage con artist trying to save her mom’s video store from unscrupulous loan sharks any way she can. In this colorful adventure filled with punchy puzzles and dialogue, how you make that money is up to you: travel across the country picking pockets and locks, persuading marks, sneaking around in disguises, and even profiting off the latest plushie fad.

The Big Con Features:

  • An irreverent comic adventure game with open-ended situations, puzzles, and exploration.
  • Crime is cool now — sneak, pickpocket, wear disguises, and grift and con anyone you can!
  • Mouth off! Talk your way into deals and out of trouble across the country.
  • Meet a cast of weird ‘90s characters and rip ‘em off (or help them, if that’s your deal).
  • Original theme song from Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego? house band Rockapella!
  • Call home and argue with your mom!

The Big Con is available to wishlist now on Steam.

STRATEGIC MIND: BLITZKRIEG AND STRATEGIC MIND: THE PACIFIC WITH A RELEASE DATE ON PLAYSTATION

WARSAW – July 22, 2021 –Today Klabater announced that Strategic Mind: Blitzkrieg and Strategic Mind: The Pacific, a well-received PC strategy game series, will debut on PlayStation 4 (with PlayStation 5 compatibility) on August 5 this year.

The release of the games is quite a treat for the fans of strategic wargames. Especially since the Sony consoles do not offer a wide catalog of such titles. Experience the acclaimed Strategic Mind series in full glory with two installments, Blitzkrieg and The Pacific, soon landing on PlayStation 4 & 5!

Strategic Mind: Blitzkrieg is a turn-based strategy set during the period of WW2. It brings a modern look and new features to the good old wargame genre. You will be leading the German Armed forces, overcoming unthinkable odds, and claiming the ultimate bittersweet victory in Europe. Blitzkrieg is the way!

Watch Blitzkrieg PlayStation trailer:

Strategic Mind: The Pacific is a turn-based strategy set during the WW2 period, depicting the war between the USA and the Empire of Japan, waged in the Pacific Ocean, with mindblowing historical accuracy and attention to detail.

Watch The Pacific PlayStation trailer:

Our goal was to reinvigorate the old-school wargames genre with innovative combat mechanics and storytelling. We did not want the player to just move his tank units back and forth and attack the “bad guys”. We wanted him to feel that he is a Chief of General staff who plans the operations, argues with superiors, and puts in place his subordinates. To that end, we have created over 70 minutes of in-game cinematics for each of our titles, as well as lots of in-game dialogues.” – says Oleksandr Sienin, the Lead Game Designer in Starni games, developer of the series.

Strategic Mind: Blitzkrieg key features:

  • You will have the opportunity to command ground, air, and naval forces with an emphasis on land battles.
  • Modern 3D graphics brought by the UE4 engine with detailed models of all units, a day/night cycle, and weather effects.
  • You can upgrade and customize your troops by leveling them up and selecting skills that best suit your strategy. Moreover, you can equip your troops with additional equipment for each operation to better suit both your tactics and the war theatre.
  • You will be getting awards throughout the game and they will give you access to unique HQ skills, which you can learn to increase the efficiency and synergy of your troops.
  • You can acquire new units of various types, or upgrade your existing ones. All new units and equipment are available at historically accurate moments of the campaign.
  • You can take numerous trophies and use some of the enemy`s most advanced units against them in future battles.
  • While we strive for historical accuracy, we also allow you to explore various “what if’s” and see what could have happened if the German Armed forces were even more successful in their struggle for dominance over the European continent.
  • Storytelling cinematics, as well as in-operation dialogues with full voice-over, will help you get a better feeling of the epoch-making events.

Strategic Mind: Pacific key features:

  • Play both sides of the conflict to gain a unique insight into the epochal events of the War in the Pacific: the United States of America defending both its global power and its ideals and the Empire of Japan fighting for the right to take the future of our world into its hands.
  • You can decide which ships, submarines, and aircraft will constitute the bulk of your force. Manage your fleet between missions with all models becoming available at historically accurate moments.
  • A unique system of attachments allows you to customize your units with additional equipment to increase their efficiency and weave them perfectly into the strategies of your divisions.
  • Oversee your units becoming more experienced combatants throughout the campaign and choose which skills they should focus on to better suit your strategy.
  • A detailed system of naval battles allows you to damage various ship systems, such as all sorts of armaments, hulls, engines, flight decks, etc. For instance, damaging an enemy ship`s engine will reduce its speed and thus all of its defenses, making it easy prey for the rest of your flotilla.
  • Choose which of the commander’s skills will better suit your strategy and use them at the right moments to turn the tide of the battle.
  • Modern graphics combined with historically accurate models of all units make the playing experience much more immersive than ever before.
  • Employ the heroes forged by the furnace of war for the most difficult tasks to ensure the success of the operation.
  • Witness the events unfold through the plot-driven cutscenes.
  • Intricate combat mechanics let you show the full extent of your tactical and strategic superiority.

Strategic Mind: Blitzkrieg and Strategic Mind: The Pacific will be released on PlayStation 4 & 5 on August 5th this year.

Dark Fantasy Survival RTS Age of Darkness: Final Stand Trailer and Early Access Announcement

Dark Fantasy Survival RTS Age of Darkness: Final Stand Trailer and Early Access Announcement

Build, Gather and Fight in a Desperate Last Stand Against an Onslaught of Never Ending Evil

PlaySide Studios have announced their dark fantasy survival RTS Age of Darkness: Final Standwill be descending into Early Access through Steam in Fall 2021. Age of Darkness: Final Stand presents a modern, darker spin on the survival RTS genre that will challenge new players, and strategy experts alike. The initial story driven trailer is now live giving players a sneak peak into the title and unique gameplay.

Strategic construction, careful resource management, and rapid recruitment are the keys to surviving unrelenting swarms of Nightmares. Robust defences to build, battleworn heroes to enlist, and the tug of war between light and dark all complemented with an original soundtrack by Path of Exile composer Kamil Orman-Janowski.

Survive the Never Ending Evil

Age of Darkness: Final Stand will enter early access with an intense survival game mode that tests your resolve. By day, construct buildings, gather resources, and recruit an army led by unique Heroes. Scout into the deadly fog of war and take the fight to the horrors within. By night, survive swarms of enemies numbering in the thousands. Made to be highly replayable, your army will fall, your settlements will crumble, but you will learn. Rise from the ashes again and again to push back the darkness of ‘The Veil’ and keep the light alive.

Fog of War: Evolved

Light up a rich, complex, procedurally generated map to claim territory back from ‘The Veil’. A dynamic living death fog that conceals enemies, drains life from your troops and turns structures into spawning nests for the Nightmares. Holding the line against this terror is not for the faint of heart. Any units unfortunate enough to be too close to ‘The Veil’ become ‘horrified’, sending them into fits of fear and lowering their effectiveness. Only light cures the darkness, so fight in the light or pay the price.

Death Nights

Brace yourself against huge tidal waves of Nightmares. Leveraging an internally developed technology called ‘SwarmTech’ allows the game to render over 70,000 enemy units on the screen at one time. These enemy legions claw their way up through seething fissures in the earth to reinforce ‘The Veil’. When the Death Night begins, you’ll be weakened by a Malice – a random affliction capable of undermining the best laid plans. If you are fortunate enough to survive until dawn you will be rewarded with a choice of Blessings. Live or die, Death Nights will test your strategic skills to breaking point.

Heroes Vs Horrors

Lead the charge against the horrors of the night with powerful and unique Heroes. Using special abilities gained from levelling up, these Heroes can be key to turning the tide of a desperate battle. But beware, the Nightmares have elite roaming champions of their own that drop precious resources when killed, posing an extreme and ever-present threat to your expansion. Are you the hunter, or the hunted?

Early Access & Community

At PlaySide, we are passionate about working hand in hand with our players to help shape the evolution of Age of Darkness: Final Stand, both during Early Access and into the future. Our strongest desire is to have a title reflective of our gaming passion whilst providing a unique challenge that players from this genre both desire and demand. We look forward to building a long-term community and engaging with our players who share a like-minded vision of making a deeper, darker, challenging combat RTS experience.

Age of Darkness: Final Stand heralds PlaySide’s expansion into the hardcore PC platform. As a studio created to develop AAA titles, the vision has always been to develop larger, more hardcore titles on PC and Console” said Gerry Sakkas, CEO, PlaySide Studios. “Age of Darkness: Final Stand is a testament to the grit, adaptability and talent of our artists, engineers and game designers. We’re extremely excited and anxious to meet our first wave of players on Steam and to finish building Age of Darkness: Final Stand together with the community!”

“The PC RTS genre is as wild and untamed as it is deep and complex. This is a space where anything goes and the player’s expectations are limitless” said Sean Gabriel, Lead Designer on the title. “Rising to that challenge and bringing PlaySide’s special blend of personality, experience, and talent to bear has been a herculean task of which we’re exceptionally proud. With Age of Darkness: Final Stand we’ve been able to combine our passion for Action RPGs, Roguelikes, and RTS games into something wholly our own – and we’re only just getting started.”
