World of Warships’ Lethal New Submarines Bring New Depths to All Out Naval Warfare

Dive into deep sea combat with this explosive update, build a Dutch cruiser in the new Dockyard or escape to the anime world with ‘Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These’ crossover

AUSTIN, TEXAS (August 9, 2021) – World of Warships, the world’s biggest naval warfare MMO developed and published by Wargaming, has revealed the upcoming Update 0.10.7, packed with new content including the addition of submarines to Ranked Battles, the De Zeven Dockyard, the long-awaited return of the USS Missouri, and a unique collaboration with Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These, the Japanese anime series based on the popular science fiction novels.

Submarines Arrive in Ranked
Submarines completely changed the face of real-life naval warfare in the 20th century and are now set to do the same in World of Warships. Players can experience a whole new world beneath the surface by taking control of the deadly submarines, now playable out of testing for the first time. These delicate but stealthy vessels bring a whole new tactical element to the game, as players weigh the pros and cons of the four separate diving levels and try out acoustic homing torpedoes, bolstered by sonar ping mechanics.

Submarines in Ranked and Co-op Battles – Video Overview

Some battleships have been equipped with anti-submarine defense aircraft to blow these vessels out of the water, while many destroyers and some light cruisers can dispatch depth charges to tackle them. Players can test out this new class in more relaxed co-op battles, and then put them to the test in the special upcoming season of Ranked Battles.

Dutch Cruisers: Part Two
Early Access to Dutch Cruisers continues in 0.10.7 with the added ability to construct the Tier VIII ship De Zeven Provinciën at the new Dockyard through 24 shipbuilding phases. In addition, the “Dutch Cruisers: Part 2” special event offers a reward of a commemorative flag and Klaas Jenssen, a Dutch commander with enhanced skills, when a chain of combat missions is completed.

Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These
This update marks our first collaboration with Japanese anime series based on the science fiction novels of the same name “Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These”©, which have a profound story and an overwhelming scale. Accompanied by a newly recorded custom voice for the new commanders, players will be able to take charge of their fleet with the commanders, Reinhard von Lohengramm from the Galactic Empire, or Yang Wen-li from the Free Planets Alliance and more. New camouflages also will allow players to pick their side by coating their ship in the colours of these two factions. More details will be revealed soon.

The Return of the Missouri
The USS Missouri will soon return to the waves, now sat at an equal economic level with other Premium Tier IX ships. With this update, the iconic vessel that ended World War II will be available for purchase in exchange for Doubloons.

“Five years on, still the most rewarding aspect of working on Overcooked! is getting to see and hear the reaction from players around the world. Seeing the fan art, the music covers, the cosplay and even the occasional tattoo is something I’ll never get used to. Hearing stories about players bonding with friends and loved-ones over their time spent playing the game together is something we’re humbled to have played a part in.”

Oli De-Vine, co-founder, Ghost Town Games said:

“Wow, it’s been five years! Well first I have to acknowledge the amazing folks at Team17, without whom we wouldn’t be at this point at all. It’s been an amazing journey together with so many developers working tirelessly to make the game what it is today, which is something we frankly couldn’t have made any other way. Also, multiplayer games are only what they are because of community, and the community on this game is just amazing. Maybe it’s a virtue of being a game about cooperation and communication, but we’re really happy the game has found such a kind audience who are always so supportive and welcoming of the things we make, and who come and play together from all over the world. It’s been great, thank you all very much.”

Star Citizen – Alpha 3.14: Welcome to Orison Update Completes the Stanton System with its Final Planet and a Spectacular New Landing Zone Amongst the Clouds

Cloud Imperium Games Debuts New Volumetric Cloud Technology for Breathtaking Views, Enhanced Ship Combat, New Dynamic Events and More

LOS ANGELESAug. 9, 2021Cloud Imperium Games (CIG) is proud to announce the launch of the Star Citizen — Alpha 3.14: Welcome to Orison update. Available now, the latest update further increases the size and scope of the Star Citizen universe with the introduction of Orison. This brand-new landing zone and headquarters for the Crusader ship manufacturer company is accessible for the first-time to Star Citizen players. Set amongst the clouds of the giant gas planet Crusader, this gigantic floating city represents the final and most impressive landing zone created for the Stanton System. In addition, pilots can look forward to a wide array of new gameplay systems offering even more control over their ship’s performance during combat. These improvements to ship-to-ship combat systems will also play a critical role in the rollout of Dynamic Events such as the brand-new Ninetails Lockdown and a compelling XenoThreat incursion.

“We are very excited for players to visit and explore the Orison Landing Zone, our very own ‘City in the Clouds,’ marking a major milestone for us as the fourth and final landing zone of Stanton system is delivered — and I couldn’t be more proud of what our teams have accomplished,” said Cloud Imperium co-founder and Star Citizen Creative Director, Chris Roberts. “With the implementation of our volumetric cloud tech, Crusader is now re-imagined as an awe-inspiring, beautiful gas giant just waiting to be visited. Star Citizen has never looked better, but beyond the clouds of Alpha 3.14 – Welcome to Orison there is even more for both new and longtime players to discover in our latest update with major ship combat improvements, new dynamic events, the long-awaited arrival of the fan-favorite Constellation Taurus, and more.”

Watch the Orison Welcome Trailer, presented by Crusader Industries, owner of the Orison Landing Zone

Star Citizen — Alpha 3.14: Welcome to Orison update key features include:

·        Orison Landing Zone: Located in the atmosphere of the giant gas planet Crusader, players can now visit the Orison Landing Zone in the Stanton System. As the headquarters for ship manufacturer Crusader Industries, this floating cloud city allows staff to live, work, and relax with all of the amenities and conveniences expected for the most talented and qualified personnel in the ‘verse. Attractions include the Voyager bar, various new shops and facilities, a garden area, and breathtaking sunset and sunrise views. Players can visit the eye-catching Stormwal sculpture on Orison, an homage to the massive space whales that live in Orison’s clouds, and even purchase a plushie of Crusader Industries’ official mascot, Finley the Stormwal, to commemorate their visit.

·        Volumetric Cloud Tech: Thick clouds span the atmosphere of the gas giant Crusader, brought to life with Star Citizen’s stunning new volumetric cloud technology. Admire the view from both afar and up close as you cut through the vaporous walls of mist enclosing the Orison Landing Zone and its surroundings.

·        Missile Operator Mode: Missiles now function via operator mode with a new UI, and can also be controlled by co-pilots. Further improvements to missile functionality include selecting from various types of missiles, dumb firing options, and multiple missile firing options. The adoption of the Intelligent Flight Control System aims to make missile behavior and performance even more realistic. These system improvements will have the most impact on ships and vehicles with a focus on missile armaments, including the Freelancer MIS, Esperia Talon Shrike, Tumbril Cyclone MT, and Anvil Ballista.

·        Power Management: Pilots will now have unprecedented control over their ship’s performance during combat. Power management allows players to control power allocated to three core ship systems: weapons, shields, and engines. This new feature is designed to give pilots an edge in ship combat when adjusting power to key systems at critical moments to focus on offense, defense, or evasive maneuvers. It also builds off other multi-crew systems, laying the groundwork for scenarios where a co-pilot may need to focus on power management during intense dogfights.

·        Radar, Scanning, and Ping: Players can now scan ships for information on cargo, crew, crime stats, and components. In addition, players can now mask their ship’s signature, allowing them to avoid detection from scanners. This introduces new options for scenarios calling for stealth-focused gameplay, transport, and information gathering.

·        New Dynamic Event: Ninetails Lockdown is a brand-new player-versus-player focused Dynamic Event that finds a Stanton space station blockaded by the Ninetails pirates. Players must choose to break and repel the pirate blockade, or to join the Ninetails pirates in taking out security forces.

·        Improved Dynamic Event: The XenoThreat Dynamic Event returns with numerous improvements based directly on player feedback and input. Join the call to arms as players collectively work to repel invaders from the Pyro System.

·        RSI Constellation Taurus: The highly anticipated and long-awaited Constellation Taurus finally arrives in the ‘verse, marking the completion of the line of ships that players affectionately call “the Connie.” The Taurus is the essential ship on a player’s journey to cargo trading domination in Star Citizen. Featuring impressive cargo storage capacity, strong defensive weaponry, and a concealed cargo hold for discreet delivery of valuable goods, the Constellation Taurus marks a step up from smaller cargo haulers such as the Freelancer.

BECOME A VIKING LEGEND IN TRIBES OF MIDGARD

Jump into the 10-player Co-op Action RPG, available now on PlayStation!

Sydney, Australia – 9th August 2021: The opportunity to become a legendary hero of Norse mythology has arrived! Norsfell and Gearbox Publishing have launched the co-op action “surthrival” RPG Tribes of Midgard on PlayStation®5 and PlayStation®4. Play solo or team up with friends in this new genre where survival depends on the group instead of the individual. The tribe must work together to protect the sacred Seed of Yggdrasil at the centre of the village – if the Seed is destroyed, it’s game over. Put a stop to the end of the world, Ragnarök, by taking control of a mighty Einherjar, a Viking warrior brought down from Valhalla and thrive in the world of Midgard.

View the launch trailer here!

We created Tribes of Midgard to offer players both cooperative and solo experiences where they can live their own myths and legends. Stories worthy of being told around the campfire, just like the Vikings,” said Julian Maroda, CEO and creative director at Norsfell. “We can’t wait to hear about the community’s own tall-tales from adventuring in Tribes of Midgard!

The world of Tribes of Midgard is bright, colourful and procedurally generated, meaning that players can endlessly explore its areas and create their own Viking adventure for plenty of replayable fun. While opportunity is rich, danger lurks around every corner.

We are proud to share the amazing work Norsfell has put into Tribes of Midgard, it has been an immense joy to support them on their journey as game makers,” said Steve Gibson, president of Gearbox Publishing. “We believe Norsfell’s distinct vision will make this a game that is enjoyable for all kinds of game players for many years to come.”

Game Features:

  • Multiplayer – Work together to defend the village from the legions of Hel and survive as long as possible. Tribes of Midgard is designed from the ground up with both solo and co-op play for up to 10 players in mind. In-game text and voice chat makes it easy to play with friends or make new ones along the way.
  • Two Game Modes
    • In Saga Mode, players must complete a series of quests to unlock the final Boss battle for Season 1 against Fenrir. But hurry, if Fenrir isn’t defeated before Fimbulwinter the world will literally freeze over! This mode contains special rewards and will be updated with new seasonal Saga Bosses, quests, rewards and more in the future.
    • In Survival Mode, the goal is to keep the Seed of Yggdrasil alive as long as possible against a constant flow of enemies. Set the parameters of your game: size, difficulty and more – the more challenging, the more XP will be earned. This mode enables players to strap in for a marathon or quick gameplay session.
  • Challenging Boss Battles – Every few days, the Jötnar, Giants who tower over the land with their terrifying stature, arrive out in the wilderness and slowly make their way toward the Seed. They can crush the underprepared in a single blow, so make sure to be ready by scouting out the Giant and crafting the right weapons to counter them. Whittle away at their enormous health pool in tactical raids or bring the entire tribe’s might to bear and crush them in one fell swoop!
  • RPG Progression – Explore the unknown to collect resources, craft legendary gear and build your character up to stave off Ragnarök. Progress along eight different classes offering unique ways to take on foes. Choose from 30 different Rune modifiers and offer a wide variety of potent abilities and status buffs (e.g., damage, armour, movement, drop chance).
  • Exploration – Traverse the procedurally generated world of Midgard to uncover ancient ruins, discover daunting dungeons and face treacherous enemy camps to loot for rewards… and never play the same map twice.
  • Building – Create ramps, bridges and walls to traverse the world of Midgard with its steep cliffs and cross winding rivers. Construct mighty fortifications to protect the home village, guarding it against hordes of Helthings and of course, the colossal Jötnar.
  • Free Seasonal Updates – The Wolf Saga is just the beginning, as Tribes of Midgard will be updated with free seasonal content releases to let players live out the epic sagas of Norse myth and legend. Each season will build upon the last with new content that adds to the adventure, creating the ultimate Viking sandbox.

Come, Einherjar – Midgard needs you. Valhalla can wait!

Lady Hellbender – ruthless leader and galactic game hunter, or something else entirely?

Eidos-Montréal’s Cinematics & Animation Director shares some unexpected insight behind one of the most imposing characters in this new cinematic from Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy

SYDNEY (August 9, 2021) – Today Eidos-Montréal has released a new gameplay cinematic building on last June’s global reveal of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy at E3, picking up the story with Star-Lord and the Guardians as they commence their plan to negotiate with Lady Hellbender: leader of the Hellraisers, queen of Seknarf Nine and notorious monster collector.

Watch the trailer here:

With the decision left to the player on which “rare monster” to sell, AKA Groot or Rocket, this memorable moment ignites a chain of events that sees our band of misfits off on their wild ride across the cosmos, caught in a struggle for the fate of the universe.

With behind-the-scenes commentary from Darryl Purdy, Cinematics & Animation Director at Eidos-Montréal, it swiftly becomes clear that not all is what it seems, and Lady Hellbender may not be the cosmic monster trophy hunter the band of misfits have been led to believe.

Darryl Purdy says: “Lady Hellbender is a fan-favourite character from Marvel’s recent comic lore, and we were keen to ensure her place in our Guardians universe reflects the complex personality, depth, and nature fans expect to see. And with humour instilled in every aspect of our game, this gave us an opportunity to flip expectations with the story and introduce an unexpected dynamic between her and a certain Destroyer.”

Finally, Darryl also shares insight behind the game’s production, touching upon the importance the role of group performance capture played for bringing these galaxy-born characters to the screen. Close to six hours of interactive cinematics were produced for this multi-faceted, wholly original story.

Vira Announced for a December Release in Granblue Fantasy: Versus

XSEED Games, the independent-minded publishing brand of Marvelous USA Inc., in collaboration with Cygames, creators of the mega-hit Granblue Fantasy, have shared the first details on the next DLC character coming to Granblue Fantasy: Versus. Vira, the current Lord Commander of Albion Citadel, will join the head-to-head fighting game’s roster on the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system and Windows PC via Steam in December. More information about Vira and her combat style will be revealed later this year.

Raised in the fortress city of Albion Citadel, Vira grew up alongside Katalina, whom she loved as a sister and worshiped as an idol. Following in Katalina’s footsteps, Vira quickly rose through the ranks as a prodigious blademaster and an astute tactician. Adoration, however, warped into deadly obsession when Katalina purposely lost to Vira in a duel for the title of Lord Commander, and the younger woman was left stranded in Albion while the person she adored most sailed into the endless blue sky.

Developed by Cygames and ARC SYSTEM WORKS and published on PS4™ system in North America and on Windows PC via Steam globally by XSEED Games, Granblue Fantasy: Versus is currently available for purchase for $59.99 on both platforms. The PS4™ system release has been rated “T for Teen” by the ESRB, the PC release has not been rated.
