Cyberpunk Speedrunner Aeon Drive Out Now on PC & Consoles

Retro 2D platformer zooms into worldwide release with solo, co-op & competitive PvP action

LEIDEN, The Netherlands Sept. 30, 2021 – Developer 2Awesome Studio and publisher CRITICAL REFLEX have released the speedrunning platformer game Aeon Drive today on PC, PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation®4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Aeon Drive plunges players into the ultimate action-packed challenge designed around 30 seconds of speedrunning mania across 100 cyberpunk-themed levels!

Aeon Drive stars Jackelyne, a space ranger desperate to get home. Armed with a power sword and teleportation dagger, Jackelyne must dash through the neon-infused metropolis of Neo Barcelona, using time and space-bending abilities to find all the drive cores to fix her ship – and save the city from doom.

These powers will help you in two gameplay modes: story mode, for solo players or up to four players in co-op; and competitive PvP, which features up to four players head-to-head. Aeon Drive’s co-op and PvP modes support local multiplayer at launch, with online multiplayer coming in a free update later this year. The game’s Discord and Twitter integration and global leaderboards let players compete with friends and fellow speedsters from across the globe.

Game Features:

  • Warp Through Danger: Teleport through lasers, spikes and saws, and dash in a flash to avoid death through 100 levels of cyberpunk Neo Barcelona.
  • Run Through Time: Aeon Drive cuts down on repetition and keeps the challenge ahead of you fresh. Collect time-warping devices and use them strategically as needed.
  • Challenging Level Design: Levels increase in difficulty and scale, putting you on constant alert. Each level has multiple routes to explore to find the fastest time possible.
  • Retro Pixel Art: Colorful visuals combine modern and old-school styles.
  • Advanced Scoring System: New runs are fun and challenging for long-term replayability.

Aeon Drive‘s protagonist is voiced by actress Kira Buckland, best known for her roles as 2B in Nier: Automata, Reimi Sugimoto in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable, Trucy Wright in the Ace Attorney series, and Hiyoko Saionji in the Danganronpa series.

Over the last few weeks, Aeon Drive has hosted an international tournament to find the fastest speedster of all time, featuring well-known speedrunners like Distortion2, SpikeVegeta and Squillakilla. Watch the finals on Aeon Drive’s Steam page today at 10 a.m. PT (6 p.m. BST).

ABOUT THE RIFTBREAKER™

As Captain Ashley S. Nowak, “the Riftbreaker,” you enter a one-way portal to Galatea 37, a distant planet at the far reaches of the Milky Way. Your purpose is to build and develop a base that will allow travel to and from Earth for further colonization. Ashley’s Mecha-Suit, which she calls “Mr. Riggs,” can withstand the harshest environmental conditions and has a full range of equipment for base construction, resource extraction, specimen gathering, and of course – combat. It is also capable of traveling through rifts that connect space across vast distances.

THE RIFTBREAKER™  MAIN FEATURES

  • BASE BUILDING – Your task is to construct a two-way rift connected to Earth. This will be a very complex undertaking requiring enormous amounts of energy. Simple solar collectors and a few tons of steel will not be enough. You will need to build up an intricate chain of mines, refineries, power plants, and research facilities to complete this mission.
  • EXPLORATION – Galatea 37 is an unknown planet in the Sycorax belt of the Milky Way galaxy. Remote surveys have detected that it is inhabitable and perfect for colonization. The planet is full of rare minerals and substances that can be found scattered across the globe. Various biomes will surprise you with unknown fauna and flora, along with harsh weather conditions. Construct local outposts in resource-rich areas to transport the required material using rift technology.
  • DEFENSE – Your presence on this planet will not go unnoticed! As you build up your industry and disrupt the natural order, the planet will start to see you as a threat. Build up your defenses – construct walls, barriers, and defense towers as the attacks get stronger with every passing day. You will face thousands of hostile creatures trying to eliminate your presence.
  • HACK, SLASH, SHOOT – Mr. Riggs can be equipped with powerful weapons and abilities that will allow you to take on the largest of beasts. You will need to be ready to face lots of hostile alien creatures as you explore the planet.
  • GATHER SAMPLES AND STRANGE ARTIFACTS – Fallen beasts will drop valuable research specimens as well as rare resources. Use everything you can gather to research and craft new technologies, buildings, weapons, and equipment. You can also scout the terrain using your sensors and dig for treasure buried underground.
  • RESEARCH – Use your gathered samples to research new technologies that will help you build up your base, improve your defenses, develop new blueprints for your Mecha-Suit, or improve existing technologies.
  • CRAFT – Mr. Riggs is fully customizable and upgradable. Use the blueprints that you’ve researched to craft new parts and weapons. Utilizing better materials in the crafting process will result in gear with improved properties. Each crafted item has unique properties.
  • INTERACTIVE STREAMING – The Riftbreaker™ has built-in integration with all the most popular streaming services. The stream’s audience can actively participate in the game through multiple options, such as voting to send waves of new enemies, donating resources, or spawning environmental disasters like a tornado.
  • THE SCHMETTERLING ENGINE – This game is built using the latest iteration of EXOR Studios’ in-house developed Schmetterling 2.0 engine, which was previously used to create X-Morph: Defense™ and Zombie Driver™. We pride ourselves in delivering fluid gameplay and fully utilizing the capacity of your hardware: uncapped frame rates, support for widescreen monitors, customizable controls, and more.
  • COMMUNITY-DRIVEN DEVELOPMENT – If you’ve already read everything up to this point, then you might be interested in helping us shape the game. Please get in touch with us via our official Discord server or any other of our social media channels. We’ll be sharing insider information about the progress of the game’s development. We’d also love to get your feedback. Please come and help us make The Riftbreaker™ the game YOU want to play!

Surreal story-driven shooter INDUSTRIA out now on Steam

Step into an otherworldly, alternate history version of 1989 Berlin in this compelling narrative FPS

Cologne, Germany – September 30th, 2021 – INDUSTRIA, a surreal first-person shooter from Headup & Bleakmill, is available now on Steam priced at $19.99 / €19.99 / £16.99. To celebrate the announcement, a new launch trailer gives a flavour of the compelling story that drives players through an eerie and atmospheric world, where dangerous robotic foes roam the city streets in a title inspired by the classic narrative shooters of the 2000s.

INDUSTRIA is set in 1989 on the eve of the fall of the Berlin Wall. Playing as a scientist named Nora, you set out to search for your missing friend and lover, leading you into the parallel dimension city of Hakavik, where East Berlin’s brutalist architecture merges with strange technological apparatuses and futuristic robots.

The enigmatic shooter combines the imagery and themes of surrealism and science fiction to create an unforgettable world where the player will be driven forward by a compelling story, a Lynchian ambiance, and intense FPS action sequences as they work to save their missing friend and discover the secrets behind INDUSTRIA’s beguiling setting.

Players will be equipped with four firearms and a melee weapon as they roam a dystopian landscape populated by mechanical monstrosities that reflect the strange state of a city augmented by unrecognisable technology. They must also be mindful of scarce resources should they hope to survive long enough to put together the pieces that will allow them to decode the mystery at the heart of this intriguing tale.

“INDUSTRIA started as a two man-hobby project, but it’s grown into something much bigger,” reflects David Jungnickel, Co-Founder at Bleakmill. “After the hard work our now six-person team has put in over the last six years, we’re thrilled that players can finally step into the surreal sci-fi world we’ve created for them. We hope for them to discover a game ambitious in its visuals and narrative, but also streamlined in its mechanics and experience.”

About Bleakmill Games
We, David Jungnickel from Berlin and Steve Chapman from Glasgow, first met each other back in 2014. Working in a big team, we soon decided to do our own passion project: INDUSTRIA. It started as a Silent-Hill-like, was an undefined horror indie game for some time and became a fleshed out, narrative first-person shooter with strong mystery elements. As we both have a past in modding, especially in the Source Engine, a strong similarity to big names like Half-Life 2 and Portal naturally developed itself over the years. Getting supported by our composer Lukas Zepf, sound designer Clemens Ruh, character animator Ben Davis and first person animator Gabriel Kirchner, INDUSTRIA is on a good way to be released in Q3 2021 as our debut title.

KALYPSO FOUNDS SECOND STUDIO IN MUNICH

Nine Worlds Studios to work on Tropico 7

Seattle, Wash – September 30, 2021 –  Kalypso Media Group today officially announced that a brand-new development studio explicitly tasked with producing the PC and next-generation console sequel to the Tropico strategy series has begun its preparations to work on the well-known franchise. Nine Worlds Studios is named after the nine worlds of Norse mythology – symbolising the team’s ambition to create new worlds. This symbolism is also reflected in the logo.

Thomas Schneider, previously in a similar position at Aesir Interactive, was hired to set up the studio on site and later as project manager. Nine Worlds Studios is the second Kalypso-owned studio in the tech hub of Munich, Bavaria, alongside the well-known Realmforge Studios (developer of the Dungeons series). The studios share the attractive location with many housing options and transport connections to create workflow synergies between them. The addition of Nine Worlds Studios represents the fifth development studio within the Kalypso Media group of companies.

Simon Hellwig, Managing Director of Kalypso Media Group, said, “We are pleased to announce the establishment of our second studio in Munich. This allows us to use already existing infrastructures between our two studios. We are confident in our ability to ramp up the studio to full size by early next year to start production of Tropico 7.”

Dr. Anika Thun, Managing Director of Kalypso, added, “Due to the fantastic experience we have had with the city of Munich and the general promotion of video games in Bavaria, it was a logical decision to expand in this region. We are now looking for talented team members who want to work on the latest installment of the cult classic series. Candidates with experience in Unreal Engine programming, Unreal Engine technical art, game, level, narrative and mission design, as well as UI/UX, VFX artists, animation specialists and 3D generalists, who are ideally also familiar with the Unreal Engine, are encouraged to apply and join us in Munich.”

Thomas Schneider, Project Manager said, “As Kalypso’s fourth developer studio in Germany, Nine Worlds can draw on a wealth of experience as well as a reliable network, while at the same time becoming part of an environment in which all sides are passionate and actively involved in the development of international brands. I am very pleased to be working with such a strong and renowned company to establish the ambitious Nine Worlds Studios in such a renowned games location as Bavaria.”

Recruitment for the new studio is underway, with vacancies advertised on relevant job boards as well as on the Kalypso Media website.

Reinvent the French Capital in The Architect: Paris, Launching for PC Today

Starting today, you can take up the mantle of an architect to reinvent the city of Paris.

Following Early Access last February and feedback from the community, Enodo Games is proud to launch with the long-awaited new “Career Mode”.

Paris, France – September 30th, 2021. Enodo Games, French indie studio, is proud to announce the official launch of The Architect: Paris for PC, a construction game allowing players to rebuild and reinvent the French capital. Following feedback from the community during Early Access which started in February 2021, the studio has added improvements and new features to the game, as well as a long-awaited Career Mode to offer an optimized gaming experience. The construction game is out today on Steam, Epic and GOG.

In The Architect: Paris, every building that makes up the Parisian urban landscape can be shaped based on one’s will and imagination. Players have the unique opportunity to recreate the City of Lights as they want it thanks to multiple available architectural styles or from their own original designs, re-imagining the city as anything from a business district to a medieval city or a futuristic one. Budding architects will be able to mix historical and modern designs in a detailed simulated city to obtain a customized and authentic vision of Paris.

Following community feedback, Enodo Games has developed a complete “Career” Mode, full of projects and challenges, which also serves as a tutorial to allow players to take ownership of the tools before starting in the “Sandbox” mode and letting their creativity shine. The addition of managerial challenges within the “Career” Mode will see players facing challenges like those facing the true mayor of Paris.

  • The Career Mode, composed of three acts, has players realize 25 projects with specific goals to reach and unlock the next projects as well as the Sandbox mode.
  • The Sandbox Mode offers the city of Paris to build upon without any specific missions, where the players are free to demolish, redraw and rebuild the city at will.

Today, The Architect: Paris is composed of 27 districts that aspiring architects can shape entirely to their will.

In a community spirit, The Architect: Paris offers new project-sharing features which let players import the creations of others into their own game. New architects will be able to take inspiration from shared projects to recreate something original or to integrate iconic buildings directly into their own City of Lights.

The game is also open to mods and the community members can create their own new designs and make them available to all players.

Jean-Baptiste Reynes, CEO of Enodo Games, states: “We are proud to be able to offer an accomplished construction game that gives players the freedom to redraw Paris, and to take on the role of an architect. Since early access, last February, we have developed new features that we hope players will like globally.” He adds: “We count on the feedback of our community tremendously, and this is why we are proud to propose the all new ‘Career’ mode within the game. It adds new challenges and help the players get a grip on the various tools available before they dive into a freer ‘Sandbox’ mode.”

About Enodo Games
From Enodo… to Enodo Games

Founded by two architects, the firm Enodo has been developing interactive 3D environments using video game technology for 15 years. These immersive environments allow varied professionals to enjoy unique experiences which are both very powerful and educational. It is thus very naturally that Enodo Games came to be in 2014, when the founders of Enodo decided to reverse their process and to bring to the video game industry the expertise they acquired throughout the years. Being city builders enthusiasts, the team members designed the tools they would have liked to see in other games. The Architect: Paris does not give the possibility of building a city from a catalogue of different pieces of cities but to truly imagine, design and create the future of an existing one.

MONSTER HUNTER RISE CAPTURES PC RELEASE DATE OF JANUARY 12, 2022; DEMO AVAILABLE ON OCTOBER 13

LONDON – Sep. 30, 2021 – The critically-acclaimed, top-selling Monster Hunter™ series reached new heights earlier this year with the global release of Monster Hunter Rise™ on Nintendo Switch™. Receiving widespread praise for its trademark action RPG gameplay, exciting new features, and continued free post-launch support, Monster Hunter Rise is opening the gates of Kamura Village to PC players starting on January 12, 2022. Prior to the full game’s release, a free public demo will be made available on Steam beginning on October 13. In addition to confirming specifics for Monster Hunter Rise on PC, new information was also revealed for all Monster Hunter Rise players including details on upcoming collaboration content and Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak™, the monstrous new expansion which will be available simultaneously for Nintendo Switch and PC in summer 2022.

Monster Hunter Rise is the latest installment in the action RPG series and transports players to Kamura Village, a colorful and tranquil setting that attracts visitors with its unique culture and innovative hunting technologies. The core gameplay experience in Monster Hunter Rise stays true to the highly-praised previous Monster Hunter entries, where hunters must equip their armor and select from one of the 14 different weapon types. As players defeat monsters and progress through the game, items carved from fallen foes can be used to craft unique weapons and armor that will increase their chances of future success and survival. Hunters can tackle these challenges solo, or with up to three other hunters in cooperative local or online play.

Monster Hunter Rise evolves the series by introducing several new and exciting mechanics for hunters to master. For the first time in a Monster Hunter game, wire-based grappling actions can be performed by using a “Wirebug” while standing or in mid-air, adding an all-new level of aerial maneuverability to hunting strategies and attacks. Additionally, the game debuts the “Wyvern Riding” technique, which allows players to temporarily take control of a monster and yields spectacular battle sequences during a hunt. Monster Hunter Rise also introduces new hunting partners called Palamutes, personalized and rideable “Canyne” companions that will provide players with a new set of attack options. The “Canyne” Palamute companions join the series favorite “Felyne” Palicoes in assisting players while out on a hunt.

At launch, the full version of Monster Hunter Rise on PC will include all major post-launch content that is available in the Nintendo Switch version through the end of November 2021. More information about future content and timing will be available at a later date. The PC version will feature customizable optimizations, allowing hunters to enjoy their journey in 4K resolution and with ultrawide (21:9 aspect ratio) support, while also offering uncapped framerates and high-resolution textures. Monster Hunter Rise on PC will be available on Steam on January 12, 2022 and is available now for pre-purchase. The game is currently available on Nintendo Switch.

A demo for Monster Hunter Rise on PC will launch on October 13, giving hunters ample time to enjoy a sampling of this new Monster Hunter experience before the full game releases on Steam. The PC demo provides players with numerous hunting options, including offline solo and online multiplayer (up to 4 players) using all 14 weapon types. For new hunters, the PC demo will provide a “Training” option and a “Wyvern Riding” tutorial, each offering useful tips and instructions. When hunters are ready, three different hunting quests and monsters are available to experience, each providing distinct levels of challenge from Beginner (Great Izuchi) to Intermediate (Mizutsune) and Advanced (Magnamalo).

Following the release of Monster Hunter Rise on PC, players of both platform versions can look forward to the newly revealed Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, the monstrous expansion which will be available for purchase to all players in summer 2022. Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak includes a new storyline and new base of operations, as well as new locales, monsters, gameplay features, quest rank (Master), and more. Hunters must own the base game and complete the 7-star Hub Quest called “Serpent Goddess of Thunder” in Monster Hunter Rise before beginning Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak. All progress from the base game will transfer over to the expansionwhen played on the same system.

The identity of the eerie new monster featured in the debut trailer for Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak has been confirmed as Malzeno, a fierce elder dragon who will serve as the expansion’s flagship monster. Also joining the upcoming expansion, Shogun Ceanataur is a returning crab-like monster who first appeared in Monster Hunter 2.

For current Monster Hunter Rise players, a haunting new Capcom Collab was also announced today and will feature the brave knight Arthur from Ghosts ‘n Goblins: Resurrection™. After completing a challenging Event Quest, players can don Arthur’s iconic armor and the hunter’s throwing knives transform into lances, the classic weapon from the legendary series. Music from the recently-released Ghosts n’ Goblins: Resurrection will provide a backdrop to the heroic hunting action, and when a quest is completed as Arthur, a special cutscene will be bestowed upon its victors. This special collaboration quest will be available for Switch players beginning on October 28.

Finally, and also first revealed today, Monster Hunter is teaming up with SEGA to celebrate Sonic’s 30th anniversary in Monster Hunter Rise. More details on this exciting new collaboration will be shared soon, prior to the Event Quest’s release in November.
