Card Shark Cashes in on PC & Nintendo Switch on June 2, While Newly Announced Gunbrella Exactly What You Think It Is

Doinksoft (Devolver Bootleg) have teamed up with the loose-cannon publisher for the stunning reveal of Gunbrella; a noir-punk action-adventure set in a world dependent on a rapidly diminishing natural resource. Kinda like real life but with more rainproof weaponry. Gunbrella will glide onto PC and Nintendo Switch in 2023.

Players take the role of a gruff woodsman on a quest for revenge, armed with the mysterious Gunbrella: a firearm that doubles as an umbrella. His investigation becomes entangled with the inner workings of ghouls and gangsters, cops and cultists, and the fallout of corporate exploitation.

Engage in side-scrolling action combat while exploring a diverse assortment of locations and interrogating bizarre characters. Use the Gunbrella to glide, swing, dash, and dive, and gather scrap and spare parts to trade for different munitions and upgrades. Investigate cult kidnappings and trash gangs, and uncover the mysteries of the supernatural as wraiths and monstrosities materialise in places where blood has been shed…

Meanwhile, ace-in-the-hole developer Nerial (Reigns) and poker-faced publisher Devolver Digital (Devolver Bootleg) have announced their 18th Century European tale of deception, Card Shark, is coming to PC and Nintendo Switch on June 2!

SYDNEY (Feb. 11, 2022) Today, SQUARE ENIX® and video game developer h.a.n.d., Inc. unveiled The Centennial Case: A Shijima Story, an immersive live-action mystery-adventure game launching on the PlayStation®5 (PS5™) console, PlayStation®4 (PS4™) console, Nintendo Switch™ system and PC (STEAM®) on May 12, 2022.

Watch the announcement trailer for The Centennial Case: A Shijima Story here:

Directed by Koichiro Ito (Metal Gear Solid V) and produced by Junichi Ehera (NieR:Automata), The Centennial Case: A Shijima Story centers around the ill-fated Shijima family, who have experienced a chain of inexplicable deaths in their family over the past century. Players will take on the role of mystery novelist, Haruka Kagami and use their powers of deductions to uncover the truth behind four murder cases that have taken place in the Shijima household over the last one hundred years. Take on this accessible mystery story, uncover the truth of the case and reveal the culprit!

Yasuhito Tachibana, producer of Netflix’s ‘The Naked Director’ serves as Cinematographer and Scenario Director on The Centennial Case: A Shijima Story, taking visual storytelling to a new level with high-quality cinematography and thrilling live-action gameplay. Players will be immersed into an authentically traditional Japanese story where they will transcend time across different eras of Japan while collecting information scattered throughout each era to uncover the truth behind the ill-fated Shijima family and solve an age-old mystery.

The Centennial Case: A Shijima Story features compelling performances from Nanami Sakuraba as the games’ protagonist, Haruka Kagami and Yuta Hiraoka as Eiji Shijima, the second son of the Shijima family who returns home to help unravel the mystery behind his ill-fated family. A cast of talented Japanese actors bring this enigmatic Japanese adventure to life, depicting an array of characters throughout each period setting.

“This is a mystery game that we’ve poured our efforts into wholeheartedly, following extensive discussion between the director, Koichiro Ito – who has created a great many adventure games – and Yasuhito Tachibana, of Netflix’s The Naked Director, on the topic of “a live action game, for gamers”. An intricately woven story, a gameplay experience where you use your powers of reasoning to uncover the culprit, and the massive secret that threads together multiple murder cases that occur at different points in time… We’ve entered the last stage of development, with the aim to make it a mystery game that everyone can enjoy. I hope you’ll look forward to the game!” said Producer Junichi Ehara.

Players can pre-order The Centennial Case: A Shijima Story on PC (STEAM®) digitally beginning today. 2D Soulslike Salt and Sacrifice Invades Realms on PlayStation, PC Today

SEATTLE – May 10, 2022 – Salt and Sacrifice, the next installment in the million-plus selling soulslike platformer Salt and Sanctuary series from Ska Studios and Devoured Studios, summons wayward warriors to Altarstone Kingdom on PlayStation 5|4 and Windows PC via Epic Game Store today.

Become a Marked Inquisitor, a condemned soul tasked with hunting fearsome corrupted Mages as the ultimate act of penance for past crimes. Enter Altarstone Kingdom and see firsthand how Mage-controlled displays of elemental magic have choked the life out of a once-mighty land. Shape the fate of the forsaken Kingdom as one of eight character classes, and take up arms to hunt Mages, purify the land, and earn a chance at redemption once and for all.

Set out from Pardoner’s Vale, a hub of hunters and the last bastion of the western frontier, by using the Mirrorgate to travel across the Kingdom. Master the tools of different classes, like the spell-casting Sage and Ranger, a deft archer and capable spear-wielder, to fight through challenging environments rife with dangerous foes, rare materials, and new armaments that reward intrepid Inquisitors. Earn Salt from defeated enemies to upgrade stats and spend Black Starstones to unlock skill tree upgrades to build a customized and capable Mage hunter.

Progress through zones inhabited by terrifying creatures, wicked traps, and platforming hurdles while pursuing Mages. Track the Inquisitor’s magic targets and face off against scorching Pyromancers, virulent Venomancers, and repulsive Corpumancers that bend the very elements to their devious wills. Overcome Mages in combat and destroy their hearts to grow more powerful by turning their bones into new weapons and armor sets before advancing onward.

Embrace fate as a Marked Inquitor and engage in online multiplayer for cooperative Mage hunts or devious PvP invasions. Invite friendly faces to the Pardoner’s Vale Cooperation Board using a password system or summon random partners to the hunt using a Golden Candle. Join factions for expanded multiplayer options, like the Shroud Alliance, whose agents use the mysterious Page of Curses to invade the world of other Inquisitors for PvP fights, and the Oathbound Watchers, an outfit dedicated to aiding those invaded by other players.

Master challenging and rewarding combat and RPG systems similar to soulslike titles in an expansive dark fantasy world scored by composer Maclaine Diemer (Guild Wars 2). Embrace deep storytelling and rich lore while platforming with the aid of a grappling hook to reach new heights. Fight alone or with other players across a main campaign punctuated by deadly boss fights and earn enough Salt to turn even the lowliest Marked Inquisitor into a champion.

Salt and Sacrifice builds upon the foundation that made Salt and Sanctuary a fan-favorite soulslike,” said James Silva, founder, Ska Studios. “As a game largely developed by two people, we’ve worked tirelessly to build an experience that offers meaningful combat, exciting multiplayer options, and more. We can’t wait to see you all in Altarstone Kingdom!”

Salt and Sacrifice is now available for PlayStation 5|4 and PC exclusively via Epic Games Store for USD $19.99. It supports English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Korean, Chinese (Traditional and Simplified) and Japanese languages.

Cloud Gardens Switch Release Date Delayed

Meditative sandbox experience about using the power of nature to overgrow dioramas of urban decay needs a little more time to germinate

Gateshead, United Kingdom – May 10th, 2022 – Due to a minor backend issue, Coatsink and Noio are sorry to announce that their chill title about using the power of nature to reclaim beautiful lo-fi scenes of urban decay, Cloud Gardens, will be delayed on Nintendo Switch. The game was previously set to launch on 12th May 2022, but due to this minor setback it needs a bit more time to grow. Unfortunately a new release date can’t be announced just yet, so please stay tuned for more information which will be shared soon!

In this meditative title that embraces your creativity, create small plant-covered dioramas of brutalism and beauty by planting seeds, repurposing hundreds of discarded objects and creating unique structures for nature to reclaim.

Dive into a relaxing sandbox mode with no goals, or take on a multi-chapter campaign where the task is to strike a balance between the natural and the manufactured. Adding objects will encourage lush vegetation to grow, but each object must be covered in foliage in order to proceed.

Cloud Gardens hovers somewhere in between a sandbox toy and a game with challenges. Partly a gardening simulator, partly a dystopian landscape builder, and partly a puzzle game that is both satisfying and without frustration. It is a relaxing experience that takes you from one scene to the next while encouraging creativity and coming up with your own solutions.
