Specialists in Animation, Visual Effects, Cinema and Video Games are Joining Forces to Create ZeDrimeTim Studio’s First Project to be Released on PC & Consoles: Darwin’s Paradox

Paris, France, June 7,  2022. Bringing recognized video game professionals such as Romuald Capron, former studio director of Arkane Lyon (Deathloop, Dishonored), Cédric Lagarrigue, founder and former CEO of Focus Home Interactive publishing, together with two talents, Mika Tanguy and Gilles Aujard, from the world of visual effects in cinema and animation, ZeDrimeTim aims to bridge animated feature films and video games proficiencies.

Darwin’s Paradox is a platformer and adventure game for PC & console. “It draws its influences from the standards of the genre lead by Playdead studios (Inside, Limbo) or Tarsier Studios (Little Nightmares), and by bringing a new proposal filled with humour, and influenced by the Golden Age of the 1950s science fiction and today’s 3D animation feature films. Developed in the new Unreal Engine 5, it will be released on PC and consoles in 2024.”

Mika Tanguy, general manager of ZeDrimeTim, who has supervised visual effects of many films and collaborated with the greatest directors, comments: “Feature films and animation are increasingly using video game tools such as Unreal Engine. ZeDrimeTim studio’s goal is unique and original: it brings movie and animation artists, together with video game talents around authentic productions »

Romuald Capron, ex-studio director of Arkane Lyon is part of this adventure as associate and executive producer: “After an already quite full career in video games, I wanted to get involved in a project on a human scale. I was immediately attracted by the art direction and gameplay mechanics of Darwin’s Paradox and I’m really excited to help the team at ZeDrimeTim, to turn that vision into a game with a strong identity.”

Cédric Lagarrigue, founder of the publisher Focus Home Interactive, which he managed for twenty years: “I have had the good fortune in my career to discover and support studios and their games which, despite their limited budgets, became great hits. Darwin’s Paradox has the ingredients that falls into this category. The excellent playable prototype and the positioning of the studio convinced me to invest in the project and accompany the team in this exciting adventure”

Fundraising was carried out to allow the young studio to benefit from the financial base needed for the pre-production and production phases, for the launch of Darwin’s Paradox. This fundraising brought together the four partners, business angels from the Entertainment, Videogame and Finance industries as well as Bpifrance, the French Sovereign Fund.

Darwin’s Paradox, developed by the Zedrimetim studio on Unreal Engine 5, will be released on PC and consoles in 2024.

The choice-driven, cyberpunk noir detective RPG comes to Nintendo Switch on July 1st, 2022.

7 June 2022,  Warsaw, Poland | Gamedec, the cyberpunk noir detective RPG  is coming to Nintendo Switch thanks to a partnership between developers Anshar Studios and indie publishing label Untold Tales.

Gamedec is a single-player, non-combat detective thriller set in a dystopian cyberpunk Warsaw City. The game is built around a system of highly fluid decision-making leading to very notable narrative branching.

As society escapes into totally all-consuming virtual worlds for both business and pleasure, the need to weed out (or help) all the criminals, scammers, and opportunists in these worlds requires a specialist. You are a game detective, someone who solves crimes inside these bizarre and varied virtual worlds.

Originally released on PC in 2021, the game garnered multiple awards and praise for creating a level of choice and freedom similar to actual pen and paper RPGs. 

GAME FEATURES:

Games within a game

Each virtual game world you are tasked to go into has its own set of rules and norms.  Each new case will take into a new game world with its own variety of game mechanics, creating a slew of games within the game itself. 

Be your own detective
Multiple skills and abilities allow you to be a true detective. Use your cunning to identify witnesses and suspects. Question and interrogate NPCs to gather intel and access different dialogue options depending on your choices. Use your Codex and Deduction tools to unscramble facts, pick evidence and create your theory of what you believe really happened. And when all is said and done, decide according to your own ethics and integrity.

Wildly branching narrative
Each case has multiple conclusions and it’s up to you to decide which actions to take. The consequences can be immediate, long-term, or even hidden. Morality is a thing of the past and no actions will be judged as “the bad choice”. There are no fail states on investigations, just different outcomes. Say a client hires you to uncover their blackmailer, only you discover the man paying you is just as shady. Do you follow through and expose the blackmailer or team up with them to exhort your client? Or maybe you double-cross both of them, selling the info on the black market? Your choices here can then impact what options become open or closed to you in the next cases.

You are the sum of your choices

Every game detective has a different past and backstory. Which you pick and what attributes you apply in the character creator already change the course of your story and investigations. In Gamedec the story and your character continually evolve based on your choices. Unlock a deep skill tree of traits and abilities based solely on actions you take in previous cases.

Wednesday 8th June 2022, Cambridge, UK – Launching today, Old School RuneScape’s Smithing skill is getting a brand new method of training as players venture into Giant’s Foundry. A new area has been revealed beneath the Giants Plateau where ancient knowledge concerning the nature of the Giants lies in wait. 

Rewriting the narrative that Gielinor’s Giant population are brutes and monsters, Giant’s Foundry will lay the groundwork for understanding Giant culture as players help Kovac the Giant restore a legendary forge and create colossal weapons using their Smithing skills.  

This update adds a more interactive and accessible method of developing mastery of Smithing in the early-game with means of creating more items than ever for mid-game players. Giant’s Foundry also arrives with new skilling boosts exclusive to the desert area.  

Once the mini-quest is complete, Kovac’s reward shop will be open for business. The Smiths’ Uniform will provide a powerful bonus to the development of the entire Smithing skill. Players will also gain access to the impressive and deadly Colossal Blade.  

As with all new content introduced to Old School RuneScape, this new feature must have the backing of 75% of the community. The addition of the Sleeping Giants mini-quest featured in this update received over 90% backing from the Old School RuneScape community.
