Sci-Fi Third-Person Action Adventure Hitting Stores Early 2023

Sydney, Australia, August 24th, 2022: Scars Above – the challenging sci-fi third-person action-adventure shooter – created by Serbian developer Mad Head Games and published by Prime Matter – was revealed to the world at last night’s Gamescom Opening Night Live.

Watch the trailer:

Combining the rewarding feel of overcoming difficulty with a compelling and intricate story – set on a mysterious alien world to explore – viewers across the world got to experience both the prologue and some of the elements of the game itself.

The title – which has been in development for some time – is scheduled to release in early 2023 on PC, Gen 8 and Gen 9 consoles

The Plot
A colossal and enigmatic alien structure appears in Earth’s orbit and stuns the entire world; humanity names it ‘The Metahedron’. The Sentient Contact Assessment and Response team (SCAR) – consisting of scientists and engineers – is sent to investigate.

Things don’t go as planned and the Metahedron hauls the team across space onto a mysterious extrasolar planet. Playing the role of Dr Kate Ward – a SCAR member – who wakes up dazed, alone in a strange, hostile environment. Determined to survive, you set out to find your crew and unravel the mystery behind what’s happened.

  • SURVIVE AGAINST ALL ODDS

Kate is an astronaut and a scientist – not a soldier – but she’s resourceful and determined to do anything to survive.
Use a combination of ranged weapons, devices, consumables and melee attacks, you need to manage stamina as you run, dodge, exploit weak points and discover effective tactics to defeat your foes.
Combine different elemental attacks to beat the odds and break through otherwise impassable obstacles.
Craft different items and gadgets to aid you against the countless threats in this exoplanet.

  • EXPLORE A MYSTERIOUS EXOPLANET

Immerse yourself in a carefully crafted adventure, inspired by the sci-fi classics. Explore an alien world filled with countless threats, gorgeous landscapes and ruins hinting of an ancient – yet advanced – civilisation that somehow disappeared. Journey through different biomes, such as marshlands, freezing wastelands, underground caverns and alien facilities – all with their own set of challenges, enemies, secrets and environmental hazards.

  • EMBARK ON A RESEARCH JOURNEY
Kate is a scientist to her core and you’ll use that scientific expertise to extract information from your surroundings by scanning artifacts, materials and creatures in order to learn about their features, properties and weaknesses. As you explore your surroundings, you will conduct analysis and gain knowledge which will allow you to craft new gadgets, weapons and unlock abilities in Xenobiology and Engineering trees.
  • FIGHT CHALLENGING MONSTERS

Ghastly enemy designs – with diverse strategies and tactics – will keep encounters fresh, forcing you to find creative ways to defeat them.

GOAT SIMULATOR 3 REVEALS FIRST GAMEPLAY TRAILER AT GAMESCOM OPENING NIGHT LIVE

GOAT SIMULATOR 3 REVEALS FIRST GAMEPLAY TRAILER AT GAMESCOM OPENING NIGHT LIVE

Sydney, Australia – August 24th, 2022 — Today, Coffee Stain North, Coffee Stain Publishing and PLAION gave the world its very first look at Goat Simulator 3’s gameplay during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live. Get ready for shear multiplayer madness as Pilgor and her friends descend on the island of San Angora to show off their new tricks – from reckless tractor driving to getting their ‘om’ on with a spot of goat yoga.

Watch the brand new trailer right

Goat Simulator 3 is a complex and serious(ly stupid) new sandbox adventure in which four players can jump in and cause complete havoc together. But don’t fret, we got you single goats covered as well! You can unearth all of the island’s secrets alone, no friends required.

Much like the original Goat Simulator, the sequel’s gameplay revolves around exploration, puzzle solving and “accidentally” destroying anything in sight – but this time there is so much more of it all. Blast NPCs with alien weapons, start wacky minigames anywhere in the sandbox (keep reading), become a “rhino” and stampede through town (sentence is soon over), join a secret goat society and help them achieve their goals, (hold that breath) drive a car straight into a gas station (what’s up with goats and gas stations anyway?), and so much more! The world truly is your oyster* (puh, you made it!).

But everyone knows you can’t destroy the world if you don’t look good. In Goat Simulator 3, there are so many fashionable items to get your hooves on. If you want to roam around wearing a pink tutu, a giant blonde wig and with paint tins for shoes, who are we to stop you? It differentiates you from that one friend who’s dressed like a medieval knight shooting lasers from their eyes, and the other that’s cosplaying a giant abominable banana (aka Abominana), after all.

Around San Angora there are seven multiplayer mini-games for players to discover. Once unlocked, they can be seamlessly started anywhere across the entire map for an extra challenge or somewhere hideously inopportune just for giggles.

  • King of the Hill
  • Stay inside the castle to gain crowns. The player with the most crowns wins!
  • The Floor is Lava
  • Don’t touch the lava! Use your parkour skills and climb as high as possible to escape the rising lava. Last one alive wins!
  • Car Derby
  • Drive into the rear of the other players vehicles to explode their bombs! Last player alive wins!
  • Prop Hunt
  • Classic hide and seek. If you are the seeker, find the other players by headbutting stuff. To hide, lick your desired prop. Move around when hiding to gain extra points.
  • Headsplat
  • Use your headbutt to paint the world! You get a point for each painted thing.
  • Hoofball
  • Get the ball in your goal to score points. The player with the most points wins, like usual.
  • Prop Golf
  • Get your prop to the flag ASAP! First player to reach the flag wins!

Santiago Ferrero, Creative Director at Coffee Stain North said: “If you’ve watched the gameplay trailer and still want to play Goat Simulator 3, to each their own! It’s not long now until we can finally get the game in your hands. We can’t wait, and neither can Pilgor for November 17th. We are just a little bit worried that we might have given you guys too many powerful tools to destroy the island, its inhabitants and the game in general. But it’s too late to do anything about it now.”

Goat Simulator 3 is set to release on November 17th on PC exclusively via the Epic Games Store, as well as PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Pre-orders are available now both digitally and physically at most retail stores.

For more information on Goat Simulator 3, trot over to the official Goat Simulator 3 website.

Pre-purchase the game now on the Epic Games Store here, the PlayStation store here and the Xbox store here.

*The world is in fact an island, not an oyster. There are no oysters in Goat Simulator 3 – though there could be, if enough people wanted them.

About Goat Simulator

Goat Simulator 3 is a direct sequel to Goat Simulator, a silly game that started life as an April Fool’s joke born out of a game jam. In 2014, Goat Simulator became a true goat simulation sensation, selling millions of units across consoles and PC, as well as ‘earning’ ports to Nintendo Switch, iOS, Android, and most-recently Apple Arcade.

Goat Simulator 3 builds on everything fans of the first game loved, raising the baa to brand new heights (sometimes literally). Goat Simulator 3 is coming to PC exclusively on the Epic Games Store, as well as Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 on 17th November 2022.

Teaser Trailer – Ex-Bethesda and Obsidian Veterans Form New Studio, Something Wicked Games, Tease First Project During Gamescom Opening Night Live

Industry Veterans From Bethesda Game Studios and Obsidian Entertainment Form New Game Studio, Something Wicked Games, and Announce Wyrdsong, a New Preternatural Open World AAA RPG

Something Wicked Games’ seed funding exceeds $13mm for its flagship AAA RPG and includes industry talent from the world’s most successful RPG franchises

Cologne, Germany (Aug. 23, 2022) – Something Wicked Games, a brand-new studio from 15-year Bethesda Game Studios veteran Jeff Gardiner was just revealed at Gamescom’s Opening Night Live. With initial seed funding of $13.2mm from NetEase, Something Wicked Games is a new, globally dispersed AAA games studio with creative and leadership talent from The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Fallout: New Vegas, Fallout 4, The Outer Worlds and more. Their first game, an open world AAA preternatural RPG, Wyrdsong, is currently in development.

Today’s announcement is coupled by an animatic teaser trailer for the studio’s first game, Wyrdsong. Wyrdsong is an occult historical fantasy RPG set in a fictionalized Portugal in the middle ages. Players will be challenged to question both their reality and the choices they make as Wyrdsong is set to expand, question, and re-define aspects of what makes up the current Role Playing Game genre.

Gardiner’s career in games boasts some of the most well known franchises in the RPG space. Gardiner served as lead producer and project lead across several of Bethesda’s flagship titles in the Fallout and The Elder Scrolls franchises. Before making the difficult choice to leave Bethesda Game Studios following a 15-year career, Gardiner’s efforts on Fallout 76 saw its transformation into one of the most successful, robust examples of the games-as-a-service model.

The studio’s talent roster also includes Co-Founder & Design Director Charles Staples (Obsidian Entertainment). Staples’ 15-year tenure at Obsidian was highlighted with his Design Director role on The Outer Worlds, as well as his work as Lead Level Designer on Fallout: New Vegas.

“Our goal with Something Wicked Games is to utilize our independence and creative autonomy to create the next evolution of open world RPGs,” said Something Wicked Games CEO and Founder Jeff Gardiner. “Our first project, Wyrdsong, has been my dream game for some time now, and I’m thrilled to finally share it today.”

Developed on Unreal Engine 5, Wyrdsong immerses fans in a dark historical fantasy where every decision has a consequence, both in this world and others yet to be discovered.

Headquartered in the capital region of Washington, D.C., Something Wicked Games is fully remote and hiring across all positions. Currently staffed with 12 developers, the studio hopes to achieve a full roster between 65-70 as development continues to ramp up.
