MOUNT & BLADE II: BANNERLORD WILL RELEASE ON PC & CONSOLES OCTOBER 25, 2022

TaleWorlds Entertainment announced today that their acclaimed action RPG will be released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox One X and Xbox One S

TaleWorlds Entertainment announced today at Gamescom 2022 that their acclaimed action-RPG, Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord, will be released on PlayStation (PS4 and PS5) and Xbox consoles (Xbox One and Series S&X) on October 25th, 2022.

Developed as a multi-platform game since day one, the console version of Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord will have the same gameplay features as the PC version. The game will be available to pre-order from today.

The currently available PC Early Access will also move on to full release, along with the console launch at the same date. But don’t fret – While this marks an important milestone for the game, it is not the end of the road for Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord, which will continue receiving updates in the months to come.

Overview

When it comes to Digimon, fans of the series never quite know what to expect. The franchise has seen numerous different anime series of various types including plenty of video games that tackle a wide range of genres throughout the years but perhaps the strangest part of Digimon had yet to come. Then, a new RPG by the name of Digimon Survive was announced back in 2018 and now after numerous delays and change in developer, the title has arrived worldwide and despite its flaws it may be one of the most unique combinations of visual novel and tactical RPG that fans of either genre could ask for and certainly one that Digimon fans will want to experience.

Story

Takuma and a number of his middle-school classmates are on a field trip in the mountains that is meant to be an extended stay visiting historical locations, hiking, and more. The initial plans are ruined when an earthquake causes the paths through the mountain to become blocked off. Things change however when a pair of locals lead them to a nearby shrine, explaining to them the historical meaning behind it and that it is technically forbidden for people to trespass. It doesn’t take long before strange events occur and Takuma and many of his classmates find themselves in a mysterious strange world and pursued by dangerous creatures.

Things grow even stranger as many of them are separated only for more monsters to appear but this time around, these monsters happen to not only be friendly but already seem to know their names. These Digimon come in as helpful allies against the initial onslaught and Takuma quickly learns that Agumon, his partner, is his best bet for surviving in this strange new world and perhaps finding a way back home.

In many Digimon series the process of becoming a “Digi-Destined” seems like a dream come true but this premise is tackled with a far more complex and realistic approach in Digimon Survive. Rather than simply being a happy adventure in a new realm, Takuma and his classmates are initially terrified and under attack on numerous fronts by hostile Digimon that see them as nothing more than food. With few allies, no food or supplies, and located in a strange place with no way home, Digimon Survive is a far darker themed tale than one would expect. This is especially true once the game’s storyline begins to develop further and reveal additional elements about this world and the myths that players learned about at the beginning of the game.

While we will avoid spoiling the more important details, some of the broader strokes see players needing to make various decisions throughout Digimon Survive that will steer the game’s branching storyline down various paths. This includes how players choose to build their relationships with the other characters in the game as the closer Takuma becomes with other members of the cast the stronger their Digimon can become as well as reveal additional story details. In many ways, it can also be something of a double-edged sword though as players can often only interact with others so many times in-between story sequences so and it is not possible to max every friendship out in a single run, so players may want to play favorites but this is where the other side comes into play.

As mentioned, Digimon Survive is a far darker seeming game than one may think and that is entirely true, especially when it comes to survival. There are numerous times that players may witness one of their friends dying in a situation that could have been avoided should certain choices have been made differently and the characters and plot will react accordingly by mourning the loss of their friends. This leads to some rather hard hitting moments and players likely wanting to keep something of a save rotation to avoid locking themselves into a bad situation should they wish.

With real stakes at play and a great storyline to work with, Digimon Survive‘s lengthy visual novel moments that dominate the game are an incredible experience that offers a story unlike anything I believe the franchise has had to offer so far. The characters themselves are nicely developed as well though a few can be a bit annoying, especially at the beginning, and the game’s glacial starting speed can drag the story down a bit but those who stick with it are in for a real treat.

Gameplay

In most regards, Digimon Survive is far more visual novel than anything else but it does offer some solid gameplay outside of simply reading dialogue and making choices. Now, as mentioned before, players will make various choices throughout the game that can affect relationships and determine their story path and outside of these story phases players will also be given time to explore the world map a little by traveling through the rooms of the school and interacting with other characters or searching for items/battles. These relationship building phases help boost a character’s stats and reveal more story elements but thanks to the limited amount of options available players will need to plan accordingly.

During exploration players can also examine their surroundings using their cell phone and take photos of digitized areas of the map. These photos can uncover various items ranging from healing items to even uncovering special crystals that serve as equipment. These crystals range from giving skills to the Digimon that it is equipped to to providing various stat boosts but unfortunately equipment slots are a bit too limited for their own good which limits customization.

Players can also encounter enemy Digimon when photographing these locations and players can either choose to fight them or run away at no risk. These battles serve as “free battles” that players can also choose to enter at almost any time and work as both ways to train up the player’s own Digimon as well as potentially recruit “Free Digimon” to the team. Unlike partner Digimon, Free Digimon will always stay Digivolved and can turn into some heavy hitters. It is worth noting that while it isn’t required to gather other Digimon to your team, it is highly recommended because occasionally battles lock out certain partner Digimon and also serves as a great way to gather all of your favorites on a team. Recruiting a Free Digimon plays out similar to a certain other RPG franchise with players needing to answer three questions  when talking to them and, if successful, trying to recruit them to the team. A failure will result in the Digimon becoming enraged and seeing a boost in its stats so players will want to play carefully at times.

As far as battles go Digimon Survive‘s tactical RPG combat is quite solid if a bit simple. Players who are familiar with tactical RPGs will already know most of the game’s elements such as each unit being able to move a certain distance, make an attack or use a skill or use an item, and then ending their turn facing a chosen direction. Attacks from height advantages, the sides, or from the rear deal extra damage to enemies and players will receive more damage just the same. There are other elements such as elemental strengths and weaknesses but for the most part the combat really doesn’t get too complicated. Players will see that they can Digivolve their partner Digimon into stronger forms at the cost of ever draining SP, which would otherwise be used to perform various attacks. When not evolved, Digimon will recover SP when not taking action or by receiving support from nearby allies. This leads to a fairly simple to understand but also quite fun combat system that players can choose to make as deep as they like. 

Visuals & Audio

From the moment players begin the game they will immediately notice how much effort has been put into making sure nearly every element of Digimon Survive is gorgeous looking. Character portraits have plenty of detail and the environments that players can explore are highly detailed and have a wide amount of variety. The Digimon models, both in combat and character portraits, are gorgeous looking and feature quite a bit of detail with only some of the attacks looking a bit too basic for their own good.

With Digimon Survive being a visual novel it is worth noting that the game only features the original Japanese voice track with English subtitles. The Japanese voice cast has done a great job with their roles here and the localization also appears to work quite well, though one character is a bit more “joke” oriented than some may be expecting. As far as the soundtrack goes, the game features a wide array of music that fits well given the strange occurrences that happen throughout the game.

Overall

Digimon Survive is not the type of game that many would expect going in but it turns out that this is only the first of many great twists that await them in the game. With the title being primarily a visual novel its storyline does the heavy lifting here by offering some amazingly enjoyable writing, especially for Digimon fans, and some great presentation with plenty of replayability while the combat is a serviceable way to take on foes with plenty of room for depth but not quite as much customization as some may want in a RPG.

New Free-To-Play Platform Fighter Developed by Player First Games Achieves Milestone Less Than a Month Since Open Beta Launch

Sydney, Australia, 23rd August, 2022 – Warner Bros. Games has announced that MultiVersus, the all-new free-to-play platform fighter, has now surpassed over 20 million players since the Open Beta started on July 26. The milestone follows the kickoff of MultiVersus Season 1, which began Aug. 15 with a new Battle Pass for players to earn in-game rewards. Season 1 will also bring a variety of new characters, modes and other content to MultiVersus, which is developed by Player First Games and published by Warner Bros. BERLIN – Aug. 22, 2022 – With a total of 2.4 million players and almost 25 million hours watched on Twitch across 50,000 streamers, The Cycle: Frontier has already made its mark on the gaming landscape. Beginning Sept. 28, 2022, on Steam and the Epic Games Store, Season 2 of the game will introduce the mysterious new Tharis Island map, the third and most difficult map yet for players to explore.

Season 2: “The Depths of Tharis Island” will deliver a new endgame mechanic that remains a mystery but promises to further deepen playstyle customization and combat depth, along with new loot, cosmetics and a newly improved Fortuna Pass. The deep caves of Tharis Island are crawling with horrors, but promise the most lucrative prospecting on Fortuna III. Hidden within its depths is something of mysterious alien origin that will change prospecting forever. Which intrepid Prospector will discover it and solve its riddle first?

More details will be shared in the coming weeks as we near the start of the new season.

Meanwhile, Season 1 of The Cycle: Frontier is going strong with many major improvements rolled out in recent patches addressing the most important issues raised by the community. The Cataclysm, the end of season event which proceeds the progression wipe, will begin in the final weeks of Season 1. All Aurum purchased or earned in-game, along with all owned cosmetics, will not be wiped. The progression wipe will allow everyone to start the new season with a clean slate. Players will of course carry over their unspent Aurum and cosmetics from season to season.

Operation Brutal Swarm arrives on September 6 with Singaporean Operator, Stadium Map, gameplay improvements, and more

Sydney, Australia — August 22, 2022 — Today, Ubisoft announced that Operation Brutal Swarm, the third season of Rainbow Six Siege’s Year 7, will arrive on September 6. This season introduces Grim, a new Singaporean Operator, an additional map, Phase 2 of the new Reputation System bringing chat sanctions, match replay reporting, and more gameplay improvements.

In Operation Brutal Swarm, comb the site for intel with new Attacker Grim, a master of survival and reconnaissance from Singapore with military experience in stealth, security, and intelligence. His Kawan Hive Launcher System gadget fires a projectile that deploys a canister on the floor and releases a swarm of bee bots into the air. Defenders that pass through the swarm area have their location revealed by a ping. Even after leaving the swarm area, Defenders will continue to be pinged until the bee bots run out of battery. Grim is a high speed, low health Operator, equipped with a 552 Commando or SG-CQB as a primary weapon and a P229 as a secondary weapon.

Alongside Grim, Stadium, a fan-favourite map, arrives at season launch as a permanent map.Featured during the Road to S.I. event, the map returns under a new name, Stadium Bravo, and gets added to the map pool in Y7S3. Utilizing elements from other maps and indestructible bulletproof glass, this map challenges both teams to develop new strategies due to the map’s unique layout.

Recent major balancing changes announced, including tweaks to Finka and LMGs, are delivered in Y7S3. Players can also look forward to changes like the addition of impact EMP grenades to some Operators’ loadouts. Other changes include more weapon attachment options for players to choose from. Additionally, the recoil system has been overhauled with each weapon’s recoil adjusted, and recoil intensity increasing during sustained bursts. The recoil overhaul is exclusive to PC, with console players now having dedicated recoil updated for controllers.

Further balance updates for Dokkaebi and Rook are slated for mid-season. Dokkaebi’s Logic Bomb now affects eliminated players, and Rook’s armor plates now grant Operators the Withstand ability if they are wearing them. Withstand allows Operators to self-revive with 20 health if they fall into the Down But Not Out state.

Gameplay updates for this season include changes to the Map Ban phase to display five maps instead of three, increasing map diversity while maintaining player agency for removing maps from the pool. The Tactical Map has also been updated to provide Attackers with more information to help them during the preparation phase. Attackers can now see a list of available Defender objective locations, with the floor map and objective locations displayed when discovered by the Attacking team. 

In addition, the ability for players to report suspected cheaters is coming to the Match Replay viewer. Players can review footage from their latest games and report suspected cheaters while viewing their gameplay. This feature continues Ubisoft’s continual commitment to detecting and banning cheaters to create a fair environment for all players.

Phase 2 of the Reputation System launches later in the season to continue addressing player behaviour improvements. This update introduces a new penalty for abusive text chat. While active, this penalty mutes repeat offenders by default to prevent hateful and abusive content in text chat. Muted players can still send and receive messages, but their messages will only be seen by players who choose to unmute them. There will be a short grace period after launch for players to adapt to the new system. After the grace period, players who are found to have sent too many hateful or abusive messages will get an active penalty for 30 matches.

Building on the introduction of Wolfguard in Year 7 Season 2, Operation Brutal Swarm gives the spotlight to another faction: Nighthaven. Career soldiers might view the Private Military Company as opportunistic and hostile, but that’s because its agents are very protective of it. Their services have a price tag, so Nighthaven often works for the highest bidder. This lets the company afford the finest military technology and weaponry, which can be an attractive proposition for Rainbow Six operatives. Finka, Pulse, Ela, IQ and Smoke made the choice to leave Rainbow for Nighthaven, joining Kali, Wamai, Aruni, Ace, Osa and their chief of security, Grim.

Finally, players who own a current Battle Pass will receive a 10% discount off all items in the shop. This perk is available for future Battle Passes as well. With the new Buy For A Friend Battle Pass Program, players will be able to purchase premium Battle Passes for others who don’t own one.

In GRAND CROSS W, battles have erupted across the world of Skyna from the invading armies of Chaos. Players will join forces with the main hero Layla, as they build armies, construct buildings, and train troops in an effort to restore the war-torn territory. Battles can be won by summoning heroes from other worlds (the Transcendents of GRAND CROSS) and using the magical power of Lapis.

The game features large-scale, real-time, immersive siege wars across land and air. Several game modes will be available for all players to enjoy including Single Player stages, World (Field) and Capturing, Castle War, Server vs. Server War, Story Chapters and Territory Expansion, and Territory Customization. Lead multiple troop-types to win battles such as Infantry, Archers, Cavalry, and Combat Engineers. Ranged archers and air units add a new strategic component to the game and can turn the tide of the war. Long-range combat allows players to attack across rivers, while air units are capable of crossing tall mountain ranges.

New Tales from the Borderlands Listed for October 21 Release

A recent, but now delisted, listing on Amazon has pointed towards October 21st as a release date for New Tales from the Borderlands on the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and Switch with some details also revealed thanks to the listing. Those who are to pre-order a copy of the game will be given the “Adventure Capital Pack” that will offer cosmetics for the game’s Anu, Octavia, and Fran characters as well as 10,000 in game currency.

With Gearbox taking charge of development this time around and apparently focusing on a brand new story, the listing has given us a bit of a preview of what to expect as players will control Anu, Octavio, and Fran on the worst day of their lives. The characters are described as the altruistic scientist Anu, her ambitious, “streetwise” brother Octavio, and the fierce, frogurt-slinging Fran. With nothing left to lose and everything to gain, you’ll claw and con your way through this thrilling five-part story!

Help these three lovable losers as they endeavor to change the world (and maybe even save it)! Dead Island 2 Temporarily Listed on Amazon for February 3, 2023 Release

The development of Dead Island 2 has been something of a ridiculous affair but it seems that, just like the zombies that populate the game, this undead corpse is continuing to shamble forth. Eight years after it was first revealed and after swapping from Yager Interactive to Sumo Digital and finally being taken over by Dambuster Studio it appears that an end may just be in sight for Deep Silver‘s open world zombie game as an Amazon listing featuring box art and some of the first screenshots of the game we have seen in years has appeared online. So far, according to the now removed listing, Dead Island 2 will be releasing on the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One on February 3, 2023.

Alongside the screenshots and box art comes a brand new description from the listing stating that after “a deadly virus is spreading across Los Angeles, California, turning its inhabitants into ravenous zombies. The city is in quarantine and the military have retreated. Bitten, infected, but more than just immune, you learn to harness the zombie inside. Only you, and the handful of other swaggering fellows who happen to be resistant to the pathogen, holds the future of Los Angeles (and humanity), in the balance.
