Break Free Interactive’s immersive VR sports experience launches on Meta Quest 2, Quest 3 and PCVR headsets, putting physical riding, tricks and multiplayer competition in players’ hands
September 17, 2026. Independent developer Break Free Interactive announces that VMX will launch for VR on October 2, 2026, bringing BMX, mountain bike and scooter action to Meta Quest 2, Quest 3 and PCVR headsets.

VMX puts the ride directly in players’ hands with advanced VR controls and a custom physics system designed to deliver precise, true-to-life handling. Tricks are performed through physical gestures, letting players find their line, build momentum, launch into the air and throw down tricks using their own movements.
Ride through five distinct maps, take on challenges, or simply find a spot and session it with friends. From an underground skatepark and desert dirt track to the streets of Miami, a docks warehouse skatepark, and a huge stadium featuring a megaramp and animated crowds, VMX gives players a variety of places to ride across BMX, mountain bikes and scooters.
PUT THE RIDE IN YOUR HANDS
VMX‘s custom physics system and gesture-based VR controls are at the heart of the experience. Rather than relying on traditional button combinations, players physically perform their tricks, creating a more immediate connection between rider and bike.
Whether practicing a new trick, searching for the perfect line or trying to land a high-scoring run, every movement becomes part of the ride.
MAKE IT YOUR OWN IN THE WORKSHOP
The Workshop is where players can customise both their ride and their rider.
Create a bike that reflects your style with VMX’s detailed spray-painting system, grabbing a spray can to apply colours, blend shades, create smooth gradients and experiment with custom patterns.
Players can also customise their character with a growing selection of clothing and riding gear, including helmets, goggles, full-face helmets, snapbacks and beanies. Earn points through gameplay and spend them in the in-game store to unlock new items.
RIDE TOGETHER
VMX is built for riding with friends. Multiplayer lets players explore maps together, session skateparks, practice tricks, take on challenges and compete for the best scores.
Whether it’s a relaxed freeride session with friends or a head-to-head challenge, multiplayer gives players another way to experience VMX and find their flow together.
FIND YOUR FLOW
VR riding can be intense, so VMX includes Comfort Mode, the default setting designed to reduce motion discomfort and provide a smoother riding experience. It lets players spend more time exploring, practicing tricks and learning the parks at their own pace.
For experienced VR players looking for the full intensity of the sport, Immersive Mode takes the realism even further, delivering a more intense and physical riding experience designed to make players feel closer to the action. While Comfort Mode is recommended for most players, Immersive Mode is intended for experienced VR users who are comfortable with more intense movement.
