The clock is ticking; every second counts in this atmospheric murder mystery!
SÃO PAULO, Brazil, 10 September 2026 | Publisher Critical Leap and Mother Gaia Studio are excited to announce that their critically acclaimed time-loop murder mystery, The Posthumous Investigation, is coming to Nintendo Switch and Mobile! Both versions will launch on September 17.
Your Client Is…The Victim
Play as a private investigator hired by a rather unusual client: an influential entrepreneur who’s already dead. The task? You have a single day to solve the mystery of his murder. The story unfolds in a noir version of 1937 Rio de Janeiro, where each suspect has their own routine, secrets and motives. Players observe characters, question their actions and use each loop to learn more about the case. When the day resets, take your knowledge with you through the time loop to stay one step ahead of the killer. In The Posthumous Investigation, death is the client, and time is your only weapon.
Gather The Evidence
Venture from dirty alleys to postcard-perfect sceneries, rummaging through settings for notes, documents, or anything that serves as a clue. This is a hand-drawn work of art. Once you’ve unearthed all the evidence, it’s up to you to piece it together and reconstruct the timeline; only then will you be able to properly accuse the culprit. Use the knowledge you gain from your different time loops to unlock new paths, confront characters, and break open their alibis. Utilize your “Thinking Board” to keep everything you’ve learned organized, before making your final accusation.
A Hand-Drawn Noir World
Your investigation sends you through a hand-drawn 1937 Rio de Janeiro that drips with style, sarcasm, and atmosphere. With the narrative reimagining characters and themes from the works of a Brazilian author Machado de Assis, there is no single correct answer for this world-weary detective. Every accusation has its logic, and the truth is yours to define.
Coming to Nintendo Switch and Mobile Devices
The team is thrilled to bring the game to more audiences, introducing new players to this homage to Brazilian storytelling. According to Bruno Toledo, Game Director of Mother Gaia:
It is a great achievement to bring The Posthumous Investigation to Nintendo Switch and mobile platforms, as people will be able to play anytime, anywhere. It will work for those who enjoy the comfort of the sofa, for those commuting through the city, or even for those in bed before sleep, and the important thing is that access will become more diverse, with players able to choose the platform that suits them best.
