Launch date and Performance Mode, including 4K 60FPS and ray tracing, revealed during State of Play
Sydney, Australia – September 4, 2026: The long-awaited next chapter in the METRO saga, METRO 2039, will launch simultaneously on all platforms on February 5th, 2027.
Revealed during PlayStation State of Play, METRO 2039 premiered console gameplay, captured exclusively on PlayStation® 5 Pro at 4K 60FPS with ray traced visuals. At launch, a Performance Mode with 4K, 60FPS and ray tracing will be available across PlayStation® 5, PlayStation® 5 Pro and Xbox Series X™ consoles. More details about METRO 2039’s technical specs and graphical modes will be revealed in the coming months.

Captured from the same campaign content playable at gamescom, the trailer focuses on raw gameplay, environmental detail, kinetic combat, and the technological advances that have been made to the 4A Engine since 2019’s METRO Exodus. 4A Games’ impressive new gameplay comes just days after METRO 2039 was awarded “Best Visuals” in the gamescom awards and secured more award nominations than any other title at the show.
4A Games is known for its technical prowess as an early pioneer of ray tracing on PC with METRO Exodus and on consoles with METRO Exodus Enhanced Edition. We’re happy to announce that Metro Exodus is now available in the PlayStation Plus Extra Game Catalogue.
METRO 2039 is available to wishlist now on the PlayStation, XBOX, Steam and Epic stores, with pre-orders going live later this year. Players can also register their interest in the Collector’s Editon – featuring a wearable Replica Spartan Helmet.
