Players can enjoy special birthday activities, a new limited-time Modern Era battle mode, another Legendary five-week campaign, and more
August 5 – Wargaming, developer and publisher of the hit naval battle MMO World of Warships: Legends, is celebrating seven years on the seven seas with a packed August update. Headlining the update are anniversary festivities including themed rewards and a special event, plus a brand-new battle mode featuring modern era warships. August’s update also welcomes another 5-week campaign packed with rewards, new Ranked Seasons and more.
Celebrate Seven Years of World of Warships: Legends
To celebrate seven years of fast-paced, Legendary battles, players can celebrate the game’s anniversary through plenty of special activities. Across a daily Calendar, web-based Treasure Hunt event, and other activities during the update, players can earn a special currency, Mariner’s Coins. These can be exchanged for various rewards, including two new and rare ships, Soviet Tier V Premium battleship Novorossiysk and Spanish Tier VIII Premium cruiser Almirante Oquendo. In addition to these vessels, players can get their hands on Explorer’s Chests, which feature birthday-themed rewards from previous years, and the chance to drop a Grand Explorer’s Chest, which can drop exclusive golden ships or new German Legendary Tier battleship Mecklenburg.
A Brand New Modern Era Battle Mode
One of the update’s major additions is the Modern Era battle mode, a new limited-time experience featuring warships inspired by late Cold War-era vessels and equipped with advanced armaments. Available across the next two updates, players can participate in both player-versus-player and player-versus-environment battles, utilising new modern technologies from offensive homing and cruise missiles, to advanced defensive systems and EMP waves. By playing and upgrading ships, players can unlock various rewards, including a Commonwealth Tier VI Premium light cruiser as the final prize.
A New Noble Lombard Campaign
A new campaign, Noble Lombard, also arrives, spanning five weeks and 100 milestones, and packed with rewards. Waiting at the end, for players with active Admiralty Backing, is Italian Tier VIII Premium cruiser Ferrante Gonzaga. Achieving high speeds, and armed with battle-ready consumables, Ferrante Gonzaga boasts rapid-firing guns that spray high-explosive and semi-armor piercing shells, and powerful torpedoes, making her a formidable foe on the battlefield.
New Ways to Earn and Use Steel
Also arriving in the game is Franklin D. Roosevelt, a brand new U.S. Legendary Tier aircraft carrier with immense attacking power, available to purchase for Steel in the Forge section of the Store. Players looking to earn more Steel to unlock the Legendary vessel can do so via new Ranked Seasons offering double the usual amount of Steel, as well as via Endless Trials in the Noble Lombard campaign, Premium Supplies missions, and the special Steel Hunter mission.
