The expansion launches alongside a new features-packed Starter Edition of Wartales
BORDEAUX, France – 17 July 2026 – Wartales, the medieval open-world tactical RPG with more than one million units sold from developer Shiro Games, grants Microsoft mercenaries the keys to the kingdom with Contract: The Fief, available today on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.
Additionally, a new content-rich Starter Edition including Wartales’ base game and several popular DLCs: Expansion: The Skelmar Invasion and Contract: The Tavern Opens!, also releases today.
In Contract: The Fief, add a whole new dimension of leadership to the Wartales experience by reigning over a lawless domain. Enact policies shaping the lives of the territory’s residents, then expand the holding district by district. Manage subjects’ needs by providing essentials like food, defenses, and entertainment. Watch as new varieties of subjects join the fief, changing its social ecosystem as they vie for influence.
Contract: The Fief layers seamlessly into existing Wartales campaigns, and all important decisions occur at the campfire after a long day of traveling and raiding.
