Sydney, Australia – July 1, 2026 – To celebrate the upcoming launch of Assassin’s Creed™ Black Flag™ Resynced, Ubisoft has partnered with acclaimed folk band The Longest Johns to create a unique sea shanty inspired by the community’s own words to the rhythm of a medley of iconic shanties.
Drawing directly from player reviews and comments about the original game, the band transforms fan words into song lyrics. The video pays tribute to the passion of the Black Flag community while turning fun reviews into a musical celebration of what made the original title a fan favorite.

About Assassin’s Creed
Since it first launched in 2007, the Assassin’s CreedTM series has sold more than 230 million games worldwide. The franchise is now established as one of the best-selling series in video game history. Recognized for having some of the richest, most engrossing storytelling in the industry, Assassin’s Creed transcends video games, branching out into numerous other entertainment media.
About The Longest Johns
Bristol folk trio The Longest Johns have become one of the most distinctive voices in the modern folk revival, carrying centuries-old maritime songs into the digital age.
The band first came together when a group of friends bonded over playing video games — decided, almost on a whim, to try singing sea shanties. A kitchen-table recording uploaded to YouTube quickly found an audience far beyond their immediate circle. What began as a casual experiment soon gathered remarkable momentum, taking them from informal online uploads to shanty festivals and concert halls around the world.
Their breakthrough moment came in 2021 when their rendition of Wellerman ignited the global “ShantyTok” phenomenon. Millions were introduced to traditional work songs through social media, in what became a rare cultural moment: oral folk tradition colliding with the algorithms of the digital era. The band subsequently signed to Decca Records and firmly established themselves as leading torchbearers for harmony-led folk music.
Digital natives as much as tradition-bearers, The Longest Johns continue to explore how communal singing resonates in a fragmented world. Their forthcoming album, The Ends of The Earth, is set for release in 2026, and this May they embark on a major UK tour before heading to Canada later in the year. Known for transforming theatres into communal singing spaces, they bring songs once heard on dockyards and deckboards back to life for contemporary audiences.
