The Gambler and the Hero Enter the Arena!
TOKYO, JAPAN – September 24th, 2025 – Tokyo-based publisher SHUEISHA GAMES and solo developer Koeda are excited to announce that ANTHEM#9, the strategic gem match roguelite, is adding two brand-new playable characters to the roster: Phannie and Beni. Both characters bring fresh combat styles and strategic depth to the game, offering players thrilling new ways to chain combos and conquer foes.
Alongside these character reveals, a brand-new trailer has been unveiled at Indie Fan Fest and ANTHEM#9 has officially been announced as participating in Steam Next Fest this October. Fans will also get hands-on time with the game when the first online demo launches on October 10th, 2025, and will remain available until October 31st. In addition to the protagonist Rubit, ANTHEM#9 now introduces two new playable characters: Phannie and Beni. Phannie is a flamboyant gambler who thrives on risk, wielding a gun with bold, flashy flair. By spending AP, he can split double gems to increase his total gem count, creating the perfect setup for massive, multi-trigger combos. His high-risk, high-reward fighting style allows him to unleash damage potential unmatched by others.
About ANTHEM#9
ANTHEM#9 is a turn-based roguelite where players match red, green and blue gems to activate skills and unleash dazzling combo chains. Quick thinking and smart deck-building are the keys to survival as every run challenges you to adapt, strategize and push your combos to the limit.
Match gems to trigger powerful skills, chain them together for massive damage and crush bosses with style. Collect new skills and “Blessings” as you progress through procedurally generated dungeons as you customize your deck to fit your strategy. The higher the combo, the greater the thrill of battle!

Koeda is a self-taught game creator who began developing games in 2021. With no prior industry or programming experience, he pursued his passion for game development from scratch, ultimately creating his debut title, ANTHEM#9. The project earned the Grand Prize at the Shueisha Game Creators Camp Game BBQ vol.2 (No Demo Division).
