Doctor Who: Legacy Recognised by BAFTA

Popular mobile game in the running for gaming accolade

8th January 2014, London: Doctor Who: Legacy, the puzzle RPG mobile game from Tiny Rebel Games, Seed Studio and BBC Worldwide has made it to the jury stage in the Family Category of the games BAFTAs.

Since its release on the 27th November last year, Legacy has been winning over both the most hardcore Whovians and casual gamers, alike. The Facebook community alone has grown to over 26,000 followers while a fan site and sub-reddit have become hubs for players from all over the world.

Hailed by Digital Spy as ‘one of the more moral free-to-play games when it comes to how it treats its players’, Legacy runs on a highly responsible monetisation strategy. With no energy system and regular character drops, it is entirely possible to play the game without spending anything what-so-ever, making it perfect for players of all ages and experience.

‘Our goal from the beginning for Doctor Who: Legacy, was to create an experience that can be enjoyed equally by fans of all ages,’ said Susan and Lee Cummings of Tiny Rebel Games. ‘We’re thrilled that the BAFTA has recognised that there are sons and daughters, mums, dads and grandparents all over the UK, some of whom have never played a video game before, enjoying Doctor Who: Legacy together.’

Peter Hickman, Producer of Digital Entertainment & Games at BBC Worldwide added, ‘It is an honour to be considered for a BAFTA and a privilege to be working with such dedicated and skilled developers as Tiny Rebel Games and Seed Studio. With a raft of new content on the way, 2014 is going to be a great year for Legacy fans. New Year. New Who.’

The final shortlist will be announced at the end of the month with the winner being unveiled in February.
