SYDNEY, 26 May 2020 – LG Electronics Australia (LG) today unveiled the company’s 2020 sound bar range consisting of nine models that deliver premium quality audio, seamless connectivity and smart functionality. At the top end of the line-up are the SN11RG, SN10YG and SN9YG models. The new range complements the company’s line-up of premium TVs, including the 2020 LG OLED, NanoCell and UHD TVs, through sleek designs matched with powerful output. 

Strategic partnerships that help deliver larger than life sound

LG partners with the experts and when it comes to audio, LG has continued its long-standing relationship with Meridian, the UK-based pioneers of high-fidelity audio. The company’s premium, Meridian Audio technology is integrated in more models this year. The line-up also supports Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, technology that has been making an impact on Hollywood content for decades, for dynamic and immersive experiences.

Bringing high-fidelity audio into Australian homes, Meridian’s audio enhancements deliver high-performance, high-fidelity audio, Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and psychoacoustics. LG 2020 models SN11RG, SN10YG, SN9YG, SN8YG, SN7Y, SN7CY are equipped with this high-level performance technology.

Meridian contribution is the Bass and Space technology, which boosts low-frequency reproduction and widens the soundstage, allowing the listener to hear warm and immersive sound, no matter where they are seated. On top of this, Image Elevation technology ensures a more lifelike listening experience by elevating the perceived height of lead instruments and vocals, which will make users feel like they are part of a crowd at a concert.

In addition, Dolby Atmos® produces rich, atmospheric sound and creates textured layers of details and depth. When playing content mastered with Dolby Atmos or DTS:X, users will enjoy realistic surround sound-like with audio that appears to originate from multiple directions. For example, users will feel like a rainstorm is above and around them.

Tailoring sound for any room with AI Room Calibration

The premium models (SL11RG, SN10YG, SN9YG, SN8YG) in the 2020 LG Sound Bar range are enhanced with AI Room Calibration for the first time. After Wi-Fi setup using Google Home, the LG Wi-Fi Speaker app enables customers to use their smartphone microphone to listen to specialised test tones produced by the Sound Bar. LG Sound Bars will adjust the equaliser according to the room acoustics (such as reducing undesirable standing waves generated by room corners). This advanced feature enables the sound bar equaliser to self-calibrate and allows users to experience optimum sound from the TV by using the Google Home and LG Wi-Fi Speaker apps to calculate the ideal sound based on the characteristics of the room.¹

Transforming the home entertainment experience, the LG SN11RG Sound Bar, which sits at the top of the 2020 range, delivers 770W of power and supports a 7.1.4-channel system including Meridian Audio and Dolby Atmos®. This powerhouse sound bar comes complete with two rear wireless up firing speakers that produce multi-dimensional sound for a heightened soundstage. Delivering a cinematic sound experience from the comfort of the home, the LG SN11RG Sound Bar enables unique sound objects to be placed anywhere in a three-dimensional space for a multi-dimensional sound experience. Enhancing the realism of what is on screen, this innovative feature puts the viewer at the centre of the action.

LG has taken connectivity a step further in 2020, with the addition of enhanced audio return channel (eARC) on selected models, allowing users to connect external devices directly into eARC compatible TVs. SN10YG and SN9YG – high-fidelity sound that is accessible

Sitting second and third at the top-end of the LG 2020 Sound Bar range, the  LG SN10YG and SN9YG deliver life-like and multi-dimensional sound thanks to Meridian Audio, while Dolby Atmos® produces rich, atmospheric sound quality to deliver textured layers of detail and depth for an immersive experience.

The SN10YG and SN9YG Sound Bars feature 570W and 520W of powerful output respectively and with 5.1.2 channel support, the result is a life-like surround sound experience that makes what consumers love about their TV sound better. To beef up sound even further, users can add rear speakers for an extra two channels and 140W.³ Furthermore, both models feature AI Calibration, 4K Pass-Through, enhanced audio return (eARC) and the convenience of Google Assistant through the comfort and ease of conversational voice commands.⁴
