If there’s one genre of gaming that generally fails hard its super hero (Batman excluded), and movie remakes, so its good to see the team from High Moon studios really going the whole hog, hiring the original voice actors from the animated cartoon series to hopefully reproduce the most authentic Transformers experience to date. Those old enough to remember the original series will instantly remember the voices of Peter Cullen (Optimus Prime) and Greg Berger (Grimlock) in Activisions upcoming Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, which puts players in the midst of the final hours of the battle between the Autobots and Decepticons for leadership supremacy of their own planet.
“This is the definitive Transformers video game, and we absolutely had to have these iconic voices onboard in order tell this story,” said Peter Della Penna, Studio Head, High Moon Studios. “Because it’s an origins story, we were able to explore some of the coolest characters in the lore for Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, and then go after the best and most authentic voice talent possible to do the franchise right.”
“There is no mistaking the voices of Optimus Prime and Grimlock, and we are so happy that fans will get to experience a game featuring the distinctive voices of many of the most iconic and popular Transformers characters,” said Mark Blecher, SVP of Digital Media and Marketing, Hasbro. “The development team at High Moon Studios did a phenomenal job hand-picking the cast for what is by far the most diverse character roster ever in a TRANSFORMERS video game.”
Players will get to see both sides of the story and engage in the grand scale battles that saw the destruction of and exodus from their home planet by the Transformers. Expect massive scale war torn environments, created specifically with each Transformers unique abilities and alternate forms in mind. Also included is the almost indestructible T-Rex form taken on by Grimlock as well as the legendary Combaticons that group together to form the monstrous Bruticus. The multiplayer mode has also been revamped with huge Autobot v Deception death matches and with more in-depth character customisations than seen in any other Transformer titles.
