Cloud Storage for Xbox LIVE

Xbox 360 News Microsoft E3 2011

No longer will you need a memory unit to cart your profile or save games to a friends house to play. Buried in a recap email after their big E3 hooplah for some random, bizarre reason, Microsoft let us in on “Cloud Storage for Game Saves and LIVE Profiles”. Why they didn’t have this front and center during their press event is beyond me as it’s certainly pretty exciting. Xbox’s Marc Whitten stated, “We are making it easier for you to sign into your Xbox LIVE account from any console at any time to access your game saves and full profile, including items such as Microsoft Points to make purchases, Achievements and friends. Cloud storage will allow you to enjoy the same great Xbox LIVE gaming experience even when you’re not in your own living room by giving you the option to store your “game saves” securely in the Xbox LIVE cloud instead of on a portable memory unit or your console’s hard drive.”

No details whether this will be for Gold members or any finer details on the service were given.

That’s pretty awesome right there. Our group of friends is constantly having to recover profiles or load them up on flash drives just to take them over to someone else’s house to play.
I like this idea a lot.
