Portal 2 officially announced

Xbox 360 PC

For those of you who have been reading about the Portal 2 hints that were put into the original Portal, the conspiracy of Portal 2 coming out is no longer a conspiracy! Portal 2 is official and currently has a release frame of this holiday season.

What makes Portal 2 different from portal? It will include a separate 2 player co-op campaign and it is being released at full retail price.

The official announcement:
“Valve, creators of best-selling game franchises (such as Left 4 Dead, Counter-Strike and Half-Life) and leading technologies (such as Steam and Source), today announced Portal 2 for shipment this coming holiday season.

Portal 2 is the sequel to 2007’s Portal, which won 70 industry achievement awards” [via STEAM]

What if you fire your portal gun at your partner?

Great news, Portal is one of my favorite games. Wish there were more custom levels for the original, really not a lot of community support. Wonder what version of the Source engine they will be using in P2?

I was so psyched to read Valve’s announcement yesterday. And, even though all I know about this sequel comes from Gamestop’s brief product description, this has shot right up to the top of my 2010 must-buy list.

Andrew: You’d probably get your first achievement/trophy. :-p

It’s already on my must-buy list too! I always imagined what would be a Portal game with coop, and this turned real! It’s even better to see they making this game a fully fledged project this time.

That secret message on Valve’s announcement was cool too!

This is good news. Looks like a long wait though.

  • Although I loved Portal 1 I’m concerned about this being full retail price and I don’t know how well they can pull off the multiplayer. Then again, this is valve ahha.
