Open for discussion… We want to know what you think

Xbox 360 Playstation 3 Nintendo iPhone

I’ve been wanting to ask this question for some time now. I would like you to all answer truthfully and honestly as that’s the only way to get results.

Compared to some the big boys out there like KOTAKU, 1UP, GAMESPOT, DESTRUCTIOD, JOYSTIQ etc, who do a fantastic job in keeping us all well informed in the gaming world. My question I would like to ask is :

How well do you think Capsule Computers compare with them when it comes to providing up to date news and information in the world of video games as well as reviews, interviews and videos.

Operating with a very small team, we do our utmost best to provide our readers and members with the most important and informative updates/news in as possible in as many areas as we can reach, be it Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Nintendo and iPhone.

Our mission statement and our goals are quite simple :

Our whole purpose at Capsule Computers is to help promote gaming companies and their products, along with providing gaming fans worldwide, from beginners to advanced, with all the information they need in the world of video games.

Along with providing readers with all the latest news and updates, we also feature video and written reviews for games and interviews with gaming companies and regularly run Competitions and giveaways for our members

We are very passionate about what we do and we would like to hear your opinions, what you like and don’t like about Capsule Computers. What you would like to see more of from us. Suggestions and ideas on how to make Capsule Computers a more reputable and respected member of the gaming community.

We would love to hear from all of you, so please leave a comment and let us know what you think 🙂

Thank you

MasterAbbott & the Capsule Computers Team

  • Obviously, CC won’t have as much content as the big boys who have much larger teams and finances behind them, but I’d say you’re doing brilliantly. Everyday you have the latest news, including an update over Twitter. You have frequent competitions and interviews with developers, especially lots of iPhone devs which the bigger sites tend to ignore a little. You have a decent amount of reviews, be it from yourself, a team member or a community member and you interact on different levels, comments, forums, twitter and the chat. I’d say you’re doing a great job, keep it up!

    Okay, so here it goes:
What I like about Capsule Computers:
The people behind the site are very involved with the Twitter community which I think is really important, because you’re not acting like you’re too above us to answer and you’re not too “busy” to respond.
I think that shows you really care about what people have to say and pretty much welcome people into the community to get involved.
Of course, the presence of contests does help in getting more people to like you, and that’s also fine.
I like the opinionated pieces on the site, it provides an insight into the minds of not just neutral based contributors but also allows to let people think about what they just said. As a gaming writer myself, I think it’s important to know when to report unbiasedly and yet, also include pieces that will make people want to respond.

What I don’t like about Capsule Computers:
    One complaint really.
I wish the content was separated in a more organizational way, such as split into categories for easier navigation. Other than that, there’s really nothing wrong.

Well, that was long enough 🙂

Hi this is what i like about capsule is the people you are up to date with games reviews you got competions to enter and that is a good idea the people on the website are very nice to speak to sthey all the time write back to you on twitter what i think it is very important you get very involed with twitter community you say when games coming out and i like that people can go on your website anreview about games and thats good and when am online you are never negative and the thing you neeed to do more on twitter is give more codes away then more people will follow you so keep it up on your website good luck.

I think that is does a pretty good job of reviewing new games. The pics, feedback, etc makes it easier to decide if the game is worth buying or not. The comments also help 🙂

  • In terms of keeping readers up to date Capsule is doing excellent, always posting the latest and most relevant gaming news. In my opinion something that would further enhance the quality if there was more personalization in the news posts, ie. the author’s own opinion with respect to the post subject. Personality is the one thing a blog can do to distinguish itself from the others, and I believe Capsule can do a lot to make a name for yourselves!

Capsule Computers seems to care a lot more about their audience than sites like Kotaku and Destructoid. I have noticed that your news does come out a bit later than other sites, but you guys have less direct sources to report to you. I agree with xerxes that you should try to distinguish yourselves in some way. I don’t have much else to say on that, but I wish you guys luck! This is still a great website!

I think you should decide if you want your focus to be on game reviews and previews, or on up to date news. As you said, you have a very small team, so it’s really hard doing both of those well.

To be honest, unless you can put a greater focus on news (and get some really good exclusive sources), people would still get their news from places like Kotaku.

Reviews on the other hand, are something people are always looking for, from various sources. So maybe you should stick to those.

I think you guys do wonderful truthful reviews. I enjoy following you on twitter and reading all of your comments.
I am very happy with the way things have been going, so thanks!

  • Thank you to everyone that has commented so far. I hope we can get more comments 🙂 We release appreciate all your honest and truthful comments and suggestions. We will continue to do what we’re doing and strive to make Capsule Computers even better than what it is now 🙂

I like CC quite a lot. I love that CC uses Twitter to comunicate with fans, gives away tons of codes, informs us of interesting information, and are on twitter when I’m awake up late at night here in Washington, USA. I truely feel like CC communicates to me personaly in a way the “big boys” can’t. They wouldn’t ask what type of pizza is my favorite. I love how personable CC is. It is truely the first site I check out if I have time in my busy schedule. Don’t get me wrong, I still check other sites out but none make me feel like I have a small personal bond. I know that CC wouldn’t remember everything we communicated about but that doesn’t matter, when CC speaks to fans they do a great job doing so. Another thing I like is that the site comes in nicely on my iPhone. More video unboxing of new products please. Keep up the great work.

  • I would like to thank you as a single mum my son has got me hooked on the console, thank you for you’re help.x

  • You guys are ok. You do some video reviews which I like. Two bad things though, one of which isn’t your fault. First, your in Australia, which is bad for me because Im in America. But that ok, most of the stuff is the same. The second bad thing is your twitter. You tweet SOOOO Much, that Im almost at the point of unfollowing. Basically, when I see a tweet from you, I just skim over it without reading. Its nice that you give out games and stuff though. I dont know, just maybe you should tone it down and not tweet EVERY SINGLE ARTICLE that gets put onto your site, or multiple tweets for the SAME ONE! I think I read like 5 or 6 tweets mentioning the Jessica Chobot interview!!

This site is fantastic as it is. I like how every now and then we get a summary of regular up to date gaming news without spamming us throughout the day like some do on Twitter. I like how you personalise your news tweets on Twitter whereas most other gaming sites’ Twitter accounts run like robots like API tweets. You also regurlarly do giveaways both site related and on Twitter which is very good and impressive. Overall, keep doing what you’re doing, because you are doing a great job of it. Well done.

Just when i was travelling! Well, i’m liking Capsule Computer, my only suggestion is to consider more platform during the news, sometimes its like the news are only for the Xbox 360, i would like to see more things related to PS3 and PC, or considering those during the same news. It’s just a small comment, Capsule Computer is already a great place to read the news and reviews.
