The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Review

Audio
Skyward Sword is an audio masterpiece. Everything in this game has a unique sound and it adds to overall experience greatly. It also has a great soundtrack that is both dynamic and peaceful, depending on whats needed.

The best example of audio within the game is within the Bazaar of Skyloft. You walk in and there is this really decent theme song playing and you can’t help but enjoy it. Then, you walk over to a stall and suddenly the theme has changed in tempo and instruments, which gives each store a distinct feel, while also retaining the essence of the location you’re in. The audio is what gives this game a portion of its personality, it is not some thing tacked on in the background to fill the void and the game, Skyward Sword, is the better for it.

Zelda games have always been well recieved for their amazing use of sound and music within the games. This title is no different. The audio is simply amazing, and the Goddesses Ballad, that can be heard frequently throughout the game is one of the music beautiful pieces of music that I have ever heard.

Visuals
Skyward Sword has a brilliant visual theme that recurs throughout the game. The game is incredibly colourful and looks a lot like a painting, more than a videogame. I was thinking that it looked like an oil painting, but I don’t know much about art, so I could be wrong about the style. But definitely very pretty and very painting like.

The visuals reflect the world as it is, a world that has yet to be set in stone, a world that is not yet a finished piece. It is still a painting, waiting for certain elements to come into place before it can be completed. I’m not entirely sure if this was the direction the developers were heading in, but it definitely gives that impression to the players.

What I particularly enjoyed about this visual style was that it wasn’t as different as Windwakers, yet, it wasn’t trying to be realistic. It fits the overall theme of the game very well, as well as increasing the anime feel of the games story.

Overall
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is not only the best reason to blow the dust off your Wii system, it is also the perfect reason to buy a brand new one, if you haven’t got a Wii already. This title is must have for gamers everywhere, and even those who do not regard themselves, but still play games casually. This does not mean that is a casual game, it just means that I think that everybody on the entire planet should play this game at least once in their lifetime.

P.S If this was on the 3DS without the Motion+ controls, this definitely would be a 10.
