Arrowhead Game Studios Develops on the Bitsquid Game Engine


Stockholm, Sweden — August 21, 2013 — Bitsquid, the high-end game engine developer, announced today that Arrowhead Game Studios will use the Bitsquid Game Engine to develop Helldivers exclusively for Playstation® entertainment systems. Makers of indie hit Magicka and one of Game Developer Magazine’s “Top 30 Developers” and Sony Computer Entertainmentpublished studio chooses engine partnership with Bitsquid for their top-down squad shooter. The engine technology will push the boundaries of Cross-Play TM capabilities on PS4 TM, PS3 TM, and PS Vita TM.  


 “I’m glad to announce that we have once again teamed up with the Bitsquid Team,” said Johan Pilestedt, CEO and Game Director of Arrowhead Game Studios. “Their passion and enthusiasm to make a great engine and further current and next-gen console technologies provides us with the clear tools to focus on what we do best- develop great games.”


Helldivers is set in a dystopian future, players fight to protect “Super Earth,” where a managed democracy has blurred the lines between military and government rule. The Helldivers are the last line of defense against three invading enemy species.
