Thoughts:
The Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack Bundle features the nine multiplayer maps and three co-op Zombie maps from Map Packs 1, 2, & 3.
That is a lot of content, and comes out to about 533.3MSP each. If you are a fan of Call of Duty: World at War, now is a good time to pick up all 3 map packs in this bundle.
The only downside is that, all three map packs have been on sale before for 400MSP each at separate times, and most people who play CoD:WaW already bought the map packs at those times.
Xbox Live Arcade Title: Scrap Metal (March 10, 2010)

Thoughts: Drift around corners with guns blazing and take out legendary competitors in this fast-paced, top-down racing game. This game looks quite interesting and has a lot of customization. It also includes avatar awards!

Story
“Put your foot soldiers, snipers, cavalry, and fighter pilots to the test in Toy Soldiers. Poised to be a smash hit on Xbox LIVE® Arcade, Toy Soldiers is an action-packed strategy-based game in which players command antique WWI toy soldiers vying for control of the trench-filled battlefields of Europe. Deploy an exciting arsenal such as tanks, cavalry, biplanes, and flamethrowers in vintage WWI toy dioramas. Developed by Signal Studios exclusively for Xbox 360, Toy Soldiers allows you to take control of individual units or control the entire battlefield from a strategic view. Integrating multiple game genres and world-class visuals, Toy Soldiers is a unique and action-packed entertainment experience!” [via Xbox.com]
Remember when you were a kid, and you used to play with toy soldiers. Well Toy Soldiers lets you reenact those good old days without the need to clean up all of the soldiers afterwards. The only disappointment is the inability to kick over your enemy’s base and army after you lose.
Take command of your army as you defend yourself in the campaign that reenacts classic WWI battles. After you are done with WWI battle your friends over Xbox live or on the couch in verses.
Gameplay
Toy soldiers is an overloaded tower defense game. The base gameplay comprises of you setting up defensive units to keep the enemy soldiers from reaching your toy box. You can upgrade your units but can only place the units in specific locations placed on your side of the field. Think of a tower defense game and now give yourself the ability to control certain defensive units. You have now just pictured Toy Soldiers.
Upgrade your defensive units to increase their power, and defend against multiple waves of enemy units. Control your defensive units to use your advanced shooting skills to mow down the enemy waves or control the entire field from a bird’s eye perspective all while attempting to keep your toy box safe.
Every kill you get will give you a certain amount of money in order to buy more defensive units as well as barb wire. Multiple kills after each other will get you multiplier bonuses and give you even more money.
Once a certain amount of people get past your defenses and into your toy box, you lose. Different levels have different amounts of people that can break through before losing. Use your defensive units and barb wire to stop all types of enemy units and survive every wave to beat a level.
Multiplayer
Multiplayer is available for online 1v1, or local split screen 1v1. No matter what the combat will always be 1v1 though. The gameplay in verses changes slightly. While in campaign you simply defend, in verses you defend as well as attack.
Y lets you create vehicles to attack with, and depending on the level you are on, determines which vehicles you can choose from. It could be tanks, biplanes, or even agile horses.
The only main problem with the multiplayer is two good players can keep a game going on forever, and there isn’t really anyway for either side to gain the upper hand. While on the other hand, if either player is clearly better than the other there isn’t any way for the worse player to stand a chance.
Audio
The soundtrack is comprised of music that feels like WWI. Even though you are fighting using toy soldiers, the game partially reenacts scenes from classic wars. The music simply helps to push the effect completely through.
The sound effects are also nice. All the weapons sound heavy when firing them, the heaviness kind off pulls you out of the feel that you are in a toy box playing with toy soldiers, but it doesn’t really matter since it is still a fun game.
Achievements
The Achievements in Toy Soldiers are based mostly within the campaign, and will require you to play on harder settings as well as getting certain scores. If you are good at tower defense games, the achievements in this game should be pretty easy. A few may take a while though, such as beating every level with a general rank.
There are also 2 avatar awards in Toy Soldiers.
A gas mask for buying the game.
A German helmet for beating the game.
The Achievement List is:
Jumped the bags: Complete level 1.
Old Contemptible: Defeat Tsar Tank.
Flying Pig: Defeat Zeppelin.
Old Sweat: Defeat Uber Tank.
Coffin Nails: Complete the Campaign.
Foot Slogger: Earn General Rank on any level.
Pickled Monkey: Win a Multiplayer Match on every level.
Throw a Seven: Complete any level in Elite mode.
Pip, Squeak & Wilfred: Survive until Round 5.
Fire in the hole: Guide a shell to its destination.
Sweet Fancy Adams: Earn General Rank on all Campaign levels.
Brass Hat: Complete Campaign+ and earn all Ration Tickets.
Overview
Toy soldiers is an extremely fun tower defense game, but it is still only a tower defense game. The ability to control certain units is what makes this tower defense game stand out. A majority of you game won’t be spent building defenses, but rather upgrading your current units and jumping from one to the next to use your superior shooting abilities to mow down the enemies rushing you. I give Toy Soldiers 8 Capsules out of 10.
Pros
Split screen verses leads to fun on the couch games with family and friends.
The ability to control your units makes this tower defense game stand out.
Multiple difficulties and bonus objective for extra hours of play time.
Cons
Two good players in verses mode leads to a game that will never end due to any chance to gain the upper hand.
Once you get your units placed, the remaining of the match is usually played out in control of only one unit.

Yay!! What a waste of a week! Anyone with me on this?
We all could’ve been enjoying a cheap game, but now we have to sit through a week that only those people who actually buy avatar clothes will enjoy. Guess what the irony of it is. Come on guess!
Everyone who actually buys avatar clothes probably already has this armor, it was one of the first released.
But I guess Gears of War fans can now show off their Fan hood by buying cheaper COG armor for their virtual self.
Toy Soldiers
Toy Soldiers releases this week for 1200MSP and by the looks of things it will incorporate avatar awards.
Toy Soldiers is an action, strategy game that enables you to go 1v1 against anyone in the world using 50 unique units. Supposedly you’ll be able to control certain units, that you pick, from a third person perspective. This could be very interesting in a semi-real time strategy game. Being able to control your unit from a third person perspective could give you the upper hand against the mindless enemy charging you but also makes you blind to the rest of the field, enabling your opponent to sneak around you.
Game Name: Puzzlegeddon Platforms: Xbox 360, PC Publisher(s):TECMO Developer(s):Pieces Interactive Genre(s): Puzzle and Word Release Date: 12/16/2009 ESRB Rating: E – Everyone Price: 800MSP Demo:Add to Download Queue
Story
“Set in an array of galaxies, Puzzlegeddon™ features a clever mix of puzzle, action, and strategy in a fast-paced and exciting game! Compete for the top spot on the planet by creating multiple combos for the quickest way to gather enough resources to blast your enemies out of this world. Or, if you find yourself on the perilous poisonous planet, solve brainteasers to survive for as long as possible and rack up a high score. Battle up to five players on Xbox LIVE® in a variety of galaxies in this stylish and quirky puzzle brawler.” [Via Xbox.com]
You are on a planet, trying to collect resources to destroy the other people that are also on the planet. That is pretty much the entire story. Like all puzzle games, there isn’t much need for a story.
Gameplay
Puzzle games must use unique gameplay to stand out, because what is fun about buying a game that you could already have played?
Puzzlegeddon almost succeeds in being unique. It feels more like a weird combination of resource collecting, block elimination, and strategy. The gameplay mechanics have been around forever, but Puzzlegeddon succeeds in combining the three for a fun experience.
You must combine 5 or more of the same colored blocks in order to gain some resources for a certain ability. Although there are symbols on the blocks to tell them apart as well, these symbols are very hard to see on smaller TVs. Because of this, this game isn’t very good for colorblind people.
You can move blocks vertically or horizontally to match them up. You can then make those blocks into resources. The beauty of this game is that it doesn’t make the resources until you want it to. You could make huge combo set up and then take the resources whenever you are ready, for a massive resource boost.
Each color resource represents 1 of 4 different abilities to unlock. As you collect resources, the resource gauge will fill up and when you get enough of a specific resource you will be able to use a defensive or offensive attack depending on the type of resource you have collected. Each gauge also has three levels, the higher in the gauge the stronger the ability is. The goal is to kill everyone else and to stay alive at the same time.
Dying isn’t entirely bad though. If you die, you can play a minigame while waiting for the other players to die. This minigame can improve your chances in the next game, or even repsawn you back into the current game.
Audio
The audio in the game is valued the exact same amount as audio in Tetris. It is there just so it isn’t quiet while you are playing. There are a few sound cues to listen out for though. A sound effect will go off when an enemy is using an ability, this is the time to stop and check who is attacking who and take the necessary precautions against the attack if it is coming for you.
Achievements
The achievement list is extremely difficult; also “Duelist” and “Brawny” are impossible since the online community is dead. Luckily the game is addicting enough to let you want to play enough that the other achievements should unlock by just playing a lot. The only one that is based on luck is “Geddowned!” since in order to do it, you have to use it right when the enemy uses an attack, and you don’t have enough time to see which attack he is using first. You just have to hope that he is using the monster attack.
The Achievement List is:
Hard to Crack – Finish first in a round of Battle Royale with the shield still intact.
To Cool for School – Give Ralph a big owie.
King of Comedy – Respawn into a missile and die.
Brawny – Finish first in a complete Multiplayer match of at least 3 rounds of Battle Royale.
Geddowned! – Use a Wormhole Disrupt to block a foe’s Monster Attack within a second of it launching at you.
Wait for it – Use a Missile Boost on an attack less than one second before it’s hit by an Anti-Missile.
Try Anything Twice – Reflect the same missile twice.
Duelist – Defeat a total of 100 foes in Multiplayer.
Meet Your Maker – Defeat a total of 50 Hard Bots when playing as the Robot Factory.
Even-Steven – Defeat a total of 50 opponents after you have been killed.
Rest in Pieces – Accumulate 150 Dead Puzzler’s points ten times, in Multiplayer Battle Royales.
Puritan – Clear the final level of Poison Peril.
Overview
Although the online community is already dead, you can still play against bots and have fun by yourself. Puzzlegeddon combines two pretty simple gameplay mechanics and combines them into a flurry of fun. I give Puzzlegeddon 7 capsules out of 10.
Pros
Game Mechanics that anyone (except the colorblind) can pick up an enjoy.
Bots to play against for people without Xbox Live.
A very big list of custom game options, for endless game possibilities.
Cons
Based entirely on different color blocks, it may be hard for colorblind people to play.
A dead online community.
The bots have a tendency to focus on you mostly, making larger games feel one sided.
Game Name: Lazy Raiders Platforms: Xbox 360 Publisher(s): Xbox LIVE Arcade Developer(s): Sarbakan Genre(s): Action & Adventure, Puzzle & Trivia Release Date: 2/24/2010 ESRB Rating: E – Everyone Price: 800 MSP Demo:Add to Download Queue

Story “Dr. Diggabone’s so lazy he won’t even walk… But that’s not stopping him from going after 16 priceless lost relics. Jump in and take control as you tilt and flip the world to send him on a quest for instant fortune and fame.” [via http://www.lazyraiders.com/]
That little summary taken from the Lazy Raiders website pretty much sums up the entire story plot.
You play as Dr. Diggabone or your avatar (In Dr. Diggabone’s clothes). Even your avatar has become as lazy as Dr. Diggabone as gravity pulls you through the caves in search for your fortune. The game is a puzzle game, so it doesn’t require much of a story other then why you are there in the first place.
Gameplay The gameplay of Lazy Raiders requires you to shift the map by spinning the room and letting gravity do all the work. Since Dr. Diggabone is too lazy to move, he will just let gravity drag him down. By spinning and flipping the level you help him collect gems, idols, and relics. You can’t appreciate the entire mechanic until you see it for yourself, so here is the trailer for you guys to watch.
If you didn’t watch the trailer, then you really are missing out. So go watch it!
Now that you have watched the trailer, you can see that the game gives a feeling of being rushed, and having to quickly make your decisions. At times this is true but Lazy Raiders is still a puzzle game, so take your time and plan your actions carefully (unless you are going for a good time on the leaderboards, in which case you should do it as fast as possible).
The controls are simple. Y focuses the screen (Some people are quite sensitive to the spinning, and focusing the screen helps reduce the spinning effect slightly). The left and right triggers zoom in and out gradually, while the bumpers zoom in or out to the max level. Finally, A flips the map completely upside down.
Many things will try to kill you while solving these puzzles (actually you will kill yourself, since all the threats are based off of them coming to you due to gravity, or you spinning the map wrong and falling into harm’s way). Spikes are abundant, Boulders flow with gravity, and thieves steal your gems. There are 80 levels for you to master, each revealing even more traps and obstacles to avoid as you search the caves in search for treasure.
Audio
There is a small ambient of background music as you traverse through the levels. The background music helps envelop you within the atmosphere of the game, but it is usually drowned out by boulders hitting walls, blocks falling, and chimes as you pick up gems. The game seems to pride itself on its sound effects because these are more clearly evident and will catch your attention more than the background music.
Achievements
Lazy Raiders is entirely single player and all the achievements just take time, patients, and quick solving. Most of the achievements are pretty easy depending on your skill level, the hardest one is “Legend – Collect all 16 relics and all 192 idols”; pretty much 100% the game. If you manage to unlock the ‘Legend’ achievement you will most likely have unlocked every other achievement already.
The game also includes a few gamer pictures unlocked by starting the game. Two avatar awards are also within the game.
Dr. Diggabone’s Outfit – Unlocked by just starting the game. Dr. Diggabone’s Hat – Unlocked by collecting all 16 relics (beating the game)
(Below the achievement list is a picture with an avatar wearing the outfit and the hat in game, since it is the only thing your avatar can wear in the game)
The Achievement List is:
Prodigal -Find the mysterious Crystal Skull.
Olympian – Finish a maze in less than the gold time.
Filthy Rich – Amass your first million.
Friendly – Collect a relic with your Avatar.
Collector – Collect 25 idols.
Conqueror – Collect all 5 relics of the Seven Cities of Gold.
Generous – Let the Thieves snatch at least 1 million.
Spelunker – Collect all 5 relics of the Arctic Wrecks.
Guinea Pig – Get hurt by every type of trap.
Marshall – Collect all 5 relics of the Wild West.
Sprinter – Finish a maze in less than the developer’s time.
Legend – Collect all 16 relics and all 192 idols.
Overview
Lazy Raiders is a puzzle game with a unique “Spin” (excuse my pun and the ones that follow). It will keep you on your toes trying not to die, while at the same time forcing you to make accurately quick gravity switches to collect the gems. Lazy Raiders starts you off smoothly but quickly tosses you into the nearly impossible. Lazy Raiders is a truly mind spinning puzzle game and you won’t even notice the clock’s hands spinning as time flies by, except for those of you who use digital clocks (yeah, go ahead ruin my pun streak!). I give Lazy Raiders 9 capsules out of 10, so go buy it and get lazy! Hopefully this game gets onto the Iphone where the game mechanics can truly flourish.
Pros
Avatar Support! (pity you can’t wear your clothes, you instead wear Dr. Biggabone’s clothes)
A unique gameplay experience that combines strategic puzzle aspects and quick paced action aspects.
Leaderboards can lead to endless hours of competition against your friends and the world.
Cons
If you get dizzy easily, this is not a game for you. (I’d suggest downloading the demo first to make sure you can handle the gameplay mechanics).
Some of the sound effects reminded me of Mario and took me out of the treasure hunter feeling.
When flipping the entire level, it is extremely easy to lose your location and losing your location is dangerous when there are 3 boulders rolling around.
Optional
The game is a puzzle game, and is pretty difficult as you get higher up in the levels (especially if you want to get good times for the leaderboards and get every single idol). This can be a Pro or a Con depending on the skill level of the player, and whether they like a challenge or not.

Finally, if you live in an area with the Zune Video Marketplace available, we’re pleased to welcome Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment to the service. In addition to access to movies like X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, Office Space, Napoleon Dynamite, you can now download episodes of 24, Bones and more.
As with all gaming related dates, these are subject to change.
Thoughts:
Avatar Clothes as Deal of the week: Some people may see this as a good chance to pick up avatar clothes, but I see it as a week without a cheap game that could actually give me some enjoyment.
Call of Duty: WaW: Map Pack Bundle: If you are still playing Call of Duty: WaW and don’t have the Zombie filled map packs, now would be the best time to pick them up for 400MSP off. Ideally I would have liked to see the price dropped down to 1200MSP, but we can’t get everything in life.
More Movies: For those of you with the Zune video marketplace on your Xbox, you can now watch many more movies. I’d suggest Xmen Origins: Wolverine if you haven’t already seen it.
So what are your opinions on this schedule? Also, here is a quick question: how many of you have payed for a movie from the Zune Marketplace?
