EA Cutting Jobs and Winding Down Presence in Japan and Russia

EA CEO Andrew Wilson shared some difficult news today, announcing major organizational changes at EA that will result in the loss of 350 jobs. Currently, EA employs approximately 9000 people in the company. Wilson did not provide details on which positions will be affected, but revealed organizational changes are coming to marketing, publishing, and operations. Wilson also announced EA will be downsizing their presence in Russia and Japan, including shuttering the EA Japan studio.

The news follows a difficult third quarter for EA, with big titles like Battlefield V and FIFA 19 failing to meet sales goals. While Apex Legends became a surprise hit since the release of the third quarter report, EA’s outlook for the fourth quarter were pessimistic at the time of the report’s publishing.
