THQ Nordic Buys Kingdoms of Amular and Project Copernicus from 38 Studios

The saga of former MLB pitcher Curt Schilling’s game development company 38 Studios is coming to a close with THQ Nordic’s purchase of 38 Studios’ remaining IP. The deal includes Kingdoms of Amular and the unreleased MMORPG Copernicus that was based on the Amular franchise. Amular was designed by some of the biggest names in the industry: New York Times bestselling author R.A. Salvatore, Spawn creator Todd McFarlane, and Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion lead designer Ken Rolston. It is unknown if the trio will be returning to work on any new Amular projects with THQ Nordic at this time.

38 Studios went bankrupt in 2012 shortly after the launch of Kingdoms of Amular: Reckoning. The company dragged the state of Rhode Island in the United States in a years long drama over an improperly made $75 million loan made to the development studio to support development of Copernicus.
