Microsoft Releasing Xbox Game Pass for Xbox One in Spring 2017

Microsoft is introducing a brand new all you can play program for Xbox One owners called Xbox Game Pass. The program is set to cost $9.99 USD/$10.95 AUD a month and will offer unlimited access to over 100 games for download like Halo 5: Guardians and LEGO Batman. Subscribers will also net themselves a 20% discount if they decide to purchase a game available on Xbox Games Pass and a 10% discount if they wish to purchase related addons. The program is set to launch for the general public in Spring 2017.

Xbox Game Pass is not a streaming service like PlayStation Now. The program is more like EA’s Origin Access program, which also offers full game downloads and discounts. Microsoft plans is to have games constantly cycling in and out of Xbox Game Pass on a month to month basis, encouraging people to keep their subscriptions going in the long term. Xbox Insiders in the Alpha Preview ring will be able to test run the program with a limited library of games starting today. Xbox Live Gold members will get first crack at the program before the full launch later this year.
