FUNimation Entertainment has revealed the details of its upcoming (re)releases of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya anime. The first season is being released in time for its 10th anniversary. The second season and all spin-offs will also be released.
The first and second seasons will be available individually and together on DVD and Blu-ray. The release will feature extras that were previously unavailable in North America, as well as some that were available on Bandai Entertainment’s release.
FUNimation will be releasing an Ultimate Collector’s Edition Blu-ray set of the series as well. It will feature both television seasons and the spinoffs: The Melancholy of Haruhi-chan Suzumiya, Nyoron! Churuya-san and The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan. These will all come in a collector’s chipboard box, which also contains a filler box with art cards. FUNimation notes that the filler box is the same size as a Blu-ray case. The most likely implication of this is that the film, The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya, will be rereleased on home video in North America.
The Melancholy of Haruhi-chan Suzumiya and Nyoron! Churuya-san will also be released separately on DVD. The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan will also be released separately in a DVD and Blu-ray combo pack.
