The Pokemon World Championships get bigger and bigger every year, so much now that it has become the norm to live stream the entire event to a worldwide audience. Fans can watch the event live from Boston, Massachusetts at the official Pokemon website or their official Twitch channel. The proceedings begin on Friday, August 21st at 15:00 CEST (11:00 PM Melbourne time). Entrants will be battling it out on the latest 3DS Pokemon games, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire as well as participating in the Trading Card Game which are separate competitions.

This year’s host will be YouTube personality Jonathan Indovino who will also provide informed commentary during the streamed matches. Mr. Junichi Masuda, Director of GAME FREAK will make a special appearance at the Pokémon: Symphonic Evolutions concert on Sunday evening at 2 A.M. CEST (10:AM Melbourne Time) at the Blue Hills Bank Pavilion in Boston. Unfortunately I won’t be in attendance due to a championship point calculation error but I will be cheering along all our Australian entrants who can hopefully steal the title and bring Pokemon glory to Australia.
