Comcept has announced in a development video released on New Years Day that Mighty No. 9 is essentially completed. In the video, Inafune shares his excitement for the upcoming release of the platformer.
While the essential code is complete there is still a large amount of debugging and beta testing to come before the games full release in April. This only notes that the main development of Mighty No. 9 is done. Inafune followed up that the porting process has only just begun. This process can be expected to take a large amount of time due to the large number of platforms Mighty No. 9 is being released on. Some early footage can be seen in the development diary below, and here as well.
Mighty No. 9 was one of the more successful video game Kickstarter campaigns launched, going past 400% of it’s original goal. The Kickstarter campaign really showcased the demand for another tightly controlled action-platformer. While the demise of the Mega Man franchise is a bittersweet thought, it’s great to see Inafune continuing on with this spiritual successor.
