Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back! After a brief hiatus to accomodate for the EB Games Expo, I am back in the anchor’s chair and ready to bring you all the hottest news out of Microsoft HQ in this week’s Xbox Newsbeat! As I shuffle my papers around I see that we have four absolutely killer Xbox One articles (head to the back of the line again Windows Phone) so instead of me waffling around with this introduction, lets get this show on the road!

Pre-Download Sunset Overdrive and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare From Today!

Ok so lets get real for a minute: the next few months are massive for the gaming industry. October – November is when all of the big guns get brought out and we gamers are blesses with almost too many choices in what to play. With that in mind, I am sure that two of the games on many of your minds are Sunset Overdrive and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. Well guess what, both of these games are available for pre-order and pre-download right now so that you will be ready to pick up a controller and blast the night away from midnight of their release days.

Sunset Overdrive will be available from October 30th, and if you pre-order the game (or purchase it soon after launch) you will get the following extra goodies:

  • Nothin’ but the Hits – An overcharged version of the High Fidelity gun that launches limited edition, priceless, multi-coloured vinyls that do increased damage.
  • It’s Me! Fizzie! – Fizzie is more popular than you because he has a great marketing budget. So, why not dress up as him and get in on some of that fame?
  • Hardcore! Hammer – You ponder buying the Day One Edition of Sunset Overdrive. A spot check reveals that if you do, you can equip a mighty hammer made from a bat and spiked dumb-bells. You buy the Day One Edition of Sunset Overdrive.

Where-as, if you are more comfortable playing CoD with some buddies, you can pre-download the game now ahead of its November 3rd release. Not only that, but there are two special editions of the game that you can also pre-order:

  • Xbox One Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Day Zero Edition, available starting today for $100.20 includes the standard game, Day Zero early access, double XP on Nov. 3, two custom weapons, and the Advanced Arsenal custom bullet brass exoskeleton and EM1 Quantum directed energy weapon.
  • Xbox One Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Digital Pro Edition, available starting today for $150.45 includes the standard game, Season Pass, Atlas Gorge bonus multiplayer map, Atlas Digital Content Pack, Day Zero Early Access, double XP on Nov. 3, Two Day Zero custom weapons, and the Advanced Arsenal.

Forza Horizon 2 Mobil 1 Car Pack

Did you know that we talk about Forza Horizon 2 a LOT here on Xbox Newsbeat? I sure do! Well the game has finally released and if the 200+ cars available at launch wasn’t enough for you to live out your deepest Grand Prix fantasies, then the developers at Turn 10 have some exciting news for you! A brand new Car Pack for the game has been announced, and it will contain six brand new cars for you to drive across that finish line.

The Mobil 1 Car Pack is available now for the relatively cheap price of $6.65 (or free if you own the Forza Horizon 2 Car Pass). Not only that but all players who own the game are eligible for the free 1988 BMW M5. So head over to your game and get racing!

We interviewed Ben Penrose, the art director of Forza Horizon 2 and you can check that out here.

Final Halo 2 Map Being Re-Imagined for Halo: The Master Chief Collection Announced

What would you say was your favourite map back in the days of Halo 2? Zanzibar? Sanctuary? For me it was always Warlock, which is why I am absolutely stoked to tell you that it is the final Halo 2 map that is being remastered for the upcoming Halo: The Master Chief Collection. I mean what else can I say other than Warlock will be playable, along with a tonne of other Halo 2 favourite maps when the Master Chief Collection launches later this year.

Check out our hands-on preview with Halo: The Master Chief Collection from this year’s EB Expo.
