Back when the Xbox One was announced the Kinect was a mandatory device that could not be removed. Then eventually the company revealed that the console would work fine if the Kinect was not attached. Now today Microsoft has announced that they are planning on releasing an Xbox One package that will not include a Kinect at all.
Starting on June 9th Microsoft will start selling Xbox One consoles without the Kinect at a price of $399 which is a $100 price difference between the Kinect version that costs $499. Since a Kinectless version of the Xbox One will soon be going on sale, Microsoft will start selling a standalone Xbox One Kinect sometime this fall.
