Blood Lad
Blood Lad is an Anime based on a Manga of the same name that follows the story of a “young” vampire and gang leader named Staz. Staz lives in the underworld but absolutely loves human pop culture, Manga, Anime, Video Games, he can’t get enough of them. One fateful day the brash blood-sucker comes into contact with a human girl who he immediately falls in love with but not for the normal reasons, he’s attracted to her human blood…or so it seems. Fuyumi, the Japanese school girl, unfortunately meets her fate shortly after meeting Staz and, after she reappears to him as a ghost, he promises that he will journey to all edges of the known demon world to bring her back to life…though it is ultimately for selfish reasons.
Bloods Lad brought action, humour and style together in a way that I feel as though we’ve never really seen before and, honestly, I don’t believe we’ll see for a while to come. The story was original and the characters, although based on well-known myths and legends, were all fantastically unique and quirky. The series had just about everything to offer and it seemed to execute most of it as well as it possibly could, it is the type of series that any Anime lover could get into. Blood Lad is an all around excellent series that deserves nothing but the best commendations. – Frank Inglese
